Bl_music #5289971. Published by bl_music (A0.842530). 12 Solo Quadrilles for Great Bass RecorderOriginally written for small orchestras or piano, our arrangements for solo Great Bass recorder work so well that it is hard to believe that  the pieces weren’t written for the recorder in the first place. This edition of stunning, not too difficult, but fun solos is the ideal companion or addition to the 25 Progressive Studies for Great Bass Recorder and a great album of show-stoppers for professionals and students alike.Quadrilles were fashionable dances of the late 18th to19th Centuries, performed by four couples in a rectangular formation. They consist of four to six movements (or contredanses, courtly versions of English country dances that had been taken up at the court of Louis XIV and spread across Europe.) and became a craze during the 19th century.Though hundreds of quadrille sets were composed in the 19th , the names of the five parts (or figures) remained the same, as did the steps and the figures themselves:Le Pantalon , L’été , La Poule , (Trénis ), La Pastourelle , Finale This collection includes:·        The Rats·        Learning to Dance·        Wide Awake·        Melbourne·        Polly·        Osborne·        Lancers’ Quadrille·        Chevalresque·        Fireman·        Les Girards·        Palermo·        Caledonian

In the solo part, I wanted to express all tonal and technical facets of this wonderful instrument as clearly as possible. But in the score, another two important 'persons' can be recognized: On the one hand, the cor anglais which constantly imitates the solo part or answers to it (almost like a 'duet' that extends over the whole work) and, on the other hand, the orchestra itself. The role of the latter is not just limited to the accompaniment of the soloist, but the musicians are allowed to show the virtuosity of their performance both in the ensemble and in solos.' Published by Mark O'Connor Musik International (A0.861883). Song Of The Liberty Bell (score – violin and string orchestra) MO131AScore (parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor13 pages - 5:00 minutes in length Song Of The Liberty Bell for violin and string orchestra was composed and orchestrated by Mark O’Connor and used as the theme song for the critically acclaimed PBS documentary, Liberty! The American Revolution. O’Connor wrote the piece to include three different instrument groupings - unaccompanied solo, folk ensemble, and string orchestra. The Sony Classical album Liberty! features Song Of The Liberty Bell in all three arrangements. Album notes author Thomas Fleming calls the music profoundly moving with exquisite melody. Fleming further describes the orchestral version - O’Connor joins in, and the instruments of the symphony pick up the theme. It is a musical replication of the way the voices of liberty in 1776 began with a lonely defiant few - and then swelled to a tremendous national chorus that has resounded through the world for the next two hundred and thirty-three years. The music is suited for all levels. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 1996 Composed by Mark O’ConnorCan be heard on Liberty! Instrumental Solo,Piano,Vibraphone - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.964400 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Leyandder Trustworthy. Baroque,Instructional,Sacred,Standards,World. Score and individual part. 1 pages. Leyandder Trustworthy #6322261. Published by Leyandder Trustworthy (A0.964400). Cantata 156 was written for the third Sunday after Epiphany in 1729, and was first performed on January 23 of that year. The text is by Picander, one of Bach's favorite librettists. of the four cantatas written by Bach for the feast (72, 73, 111 and 156), it was the last, and the only one scored for solo voice. Like Cantatas 73 and 111, it is a choral cantata, employing a choral melody in several movements. Cantata 156, in fact, employs two different melodies and choral texts in the second and sixth (final) movements, respectively; the second uses Machs mit mir, Gott, nach deiner Güt (Schein, 1628), which Herr, wie du willt, so schicks mit mir (Binemann, 1582) is reserved for the finale. This version of the piece was adapted for Vibraphone along with a piano accompaniment that comes with the product.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1236980 By Andrew Howes. By Andrew Howes. 20th Century,21st Century,Classical. Individual part. 2 pages. Andrew Howes #832517. Published by Andrew Howes (A0.1236980). This is the finale of my 'Eyeworth Suite' for the classical guitar, and it describes a tranquil, sunny afternoon by Eyeworth Pond in the New Forest, Hampshire, UK, and is written as a response to a seasonal cycle of four poems by my friend, the poet, David Dayson. The work is gentle and reflective but demands a high level of technique as a lot of it takes place around and above the twelfth fret. There will be no 'dusty bits' on your guitar after playing this one! :-)The whole suite is available either as single movements or as a complete work. The complete work is also available with tab. and consists of 'Prelude', 'Autumn', 'Winter', 'Spring' and this movement, the 'Summer Idyll' and intersperses two episocdic, lively movements between the two rhapsodic outer movements, with the doleful Winter in the middle - this does however, have a lively Yule Dance in 6/4 at its heart.

Divertimento is a work for full orchestra not to be taken too seriously! It is a diversion! It contains 5 very diverse movements. First  a prelude; second a generic ragtime tune; third a quiet reverie featuring a flute trio; fourth a march to the saloon on Saturday night and five a finale based on a  hymn tune from the Sacred Harp. Each movement is short. Whole work is about 9' 30.  All string parts are suitable for the average community orchestra.  I have conducted the work with two different community orchestras and feedback was positive from both musicians and audience members.

UPC: 038081356198.Total and extreme development of a four-note motif was the catalyst for the creative seed. Including some contemporary compositional techniques woven within beautiful soaring melodic material generates a highly effective overture. This 'romp' grows into a full ensemble, rich with floating and flowing variations. The finale builds in tempo and grandeur taking our familiar theme and swirling it into a rousing and vibrant conclusion. A sure winner! (5:15).

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1115994 By Thomas Graf. By Thomas Graf. Arranged by Thomas Graf. 20th Century,Classical,Jazz. 27 pages. Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com #717714. Published by Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com (A0.1115994). Fantasy in 3 movements for large wind ensemble, double bass and percussion 1. Deux Caracteres 2. Dialogues 3. Dance de Confusion Confluence is the name of a place in Lyon where 2 rivers flow together: The Saône flows into the - at least in German - female Rhone. In French, however, it flows into DEN Rhone - Le Rhône. This confuses the composer: How do rivers get their gender, are they sometimes male, sometimes female? Is it because of their character, because of the landscape that they flow through? By their water, even by their fish? On the people on their shores? A real confusion ensues. In the subsequent thoughts about music, the composer discovers certain analogies and asks himself the question: does gender-typical music actually exist? Or instruments? Typically male harmonies or rhythms? Or clearly female melodies and the way to interpret? The 3-movement composition is dedicated to this question and meanders like a dance in the bed of the converging streams. Colorful modal harmonies form the bed for wide arcs of melody. A varied, recurring theme sets the direction and creates a bubbling, dancing pull in the direction of the mouth: dancing finale! 1st movement: Deux Characters In the first movement (Andante) the roles are distributed - the Sâone and the Rhône get their performers. A first glance at the ensemble reveals a tendency: woodwinds take on the female lead, the male brass the counterpart. The two drummers each support one of the two poles in solidarity. The assignment may be obvious, but strong doubts remain in the final chord of the first movement. 2. Dialogues: In smaller and larger dialogues, there is a lively exchange and the properties are worked out and further developed. But it is also increasingly being copied and imitated, even maliciously agitated and aped. You try to convince each other, interrupt each other, both sides increasingly flare up, it gets louder and more hectic, louder and louder, too loud, until communication stops: in the end, you just yell at each other! 3. Dance de Confusion The resulting confusion finds a conciliatory end in the third movement of the composition: Let's dance! In the end, the initial confusion turns into a confusion: what belongs together flows and dances together. Composed by: Thomas H. Graf Arranged by: Thomas H. Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.966218 Composed by John Carbon. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 25 pages. John Carbon #3586217. Published by John Carbon (A0.966218). Composed in 2016, Madeleines is similar to my two sets of Spanish Lessons (1988 and 2001) which are both suites of character pieces for piano inspired by my admittedly limited travel in Spain. Madeleines is inspired by a much earlier hairbrained trip I took to France (and the rest of the Grand Tour) with my sister when I was in college. The title refers to Proust's episode of the madeleine, in which involuntary memory overwhelms the protagonist when he bites into one of these small cakes. I also sometimes experience poignant memories from our fondly remembered trip triggered by various catalysts. The five episodes in this set of pieces attempt to capture the essence of some of these memories. The first piece, MeÌmoire triste dans un cafeÌ (sad memory in a cafeÌ), serves the purpose of a preÌlude. One might conclude that the madeleine is sampled in this location. Il pleut aÌ Brest (It is raining in Brest) evokes memories of the wet weather in Brest, a city in Brittany near the coast. I was curious about this area because, during our travels, we met a boy in Paris with dark and dangerous eyes named François (François et ses yeux dangereux) who was from that area. In Il pleut the sound of rain alternates with church bells and fog horns (one of the poetic sensations I remember vividly about Brest). The third piece (François) is a blend of a barcarolle and a funeral march. I continued to send one-way letters to François after we returned and one day the French police called to tell me that he was dead and that they had found one of my letters on his body, which had been tossed into the Seine. They wanted more information, and they revealed that he had been smuggling drugs out of Turkey. I think the next piece, Promenade dans la meÌnagerie de Versailles (Walk in the zoo at Versailles), is tempered by later memories of a trip I took to the zoo at Schönbrunn palace near Vienna, the oldest Baroque zoo, which was in a terrible state of decay when I saw it, hence the wistful air. The finale of the set, Madeleine deÌteste les devoirs (Madeleine hates homework) is a bow to the French primer I grew up with, which had as one of its main characters a little girl who I think may have been named Madeleine. I know her father was named François. My memories are mixed up, the actual François Thibaud is remembered as the inventor of the fast-track method of learning French, which was in vogue when I first studied it in 6th grade. The idea here is that Madeleine, the daughter of François, is having a tantrum and playing with her hoops or a bike rather than doing her English homework. --John Carbon
