Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1335055 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Chamber. 22 pages. RayThompsonMusic #920917. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1335055). Satie: Parade - Final & Suite au Prélude de rideau rougeArranged wind dectet/bass (double wind quintet)The concluding music for Erik Satie's Ballet Parade.Other movements from Parade are available. Background info:Parade is a ballet choreographed by Leonide Massine, with music by Erik Satie and a one-act scenario by Jean Cocteau. The ballet was composed in 1916–17 for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. The ballet premiered on Friday, May 18, 1917, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, with costumes and sets designed by Pablo Picasso, choreography by Léonide Massine (who danced), and the orchestra conducted by Ernest Ansermet. The ballet was remarkable for several reasons. It was the first collaboration between Satie and Picasso, and also the first time either of them had worked on a ballet, thus making it the first time either collaborated with Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes. The plot of Parade incorporated and was inspired by popular entertainments of the period, such as Parisian music-halls and American silent-films.Much of the settings used in Parade's plot occurred outside of the formal Parisian theater, depicting the streets of Paris. The plot reproduces various elements of everyday life such as the music hall and fairground. Before Parade, the use of popular entertainment materials was considered unsuitable for the elite world of the ballet. The plot of Parade composed by Cocteau includes the failed attempt of a troupe of performers to attract audience members to view their show. Some of Picasso's Cubist costumes were in solid cardboard, allowing the dancers only a minimum of movement. The score contained several noise-making instruments (typewriter, foghorn, an assortment of milk bottles, pistol, and so on), which had been added by Cocteau (somewhat to the dismay of Satie). It is supposedthat such additions by Cocteau showed his eagerness to create a succès de scandale, comparable to that of Igor Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps which had been premiered by the Ballets Russes some years before, and caused no less scandal.Although Parade was quite revolutionary, bringing common street entertainments to the elite, being scorned by audiences and being praised by critics, nonetheless many years later Stravinsky could still pride himself in never having been topped in the matter of succès de scandale. The ragtime contained in Parade would later be adapted for piano solo and attained considerable success as a separate piano piece. The finale is a rapid ragtime dance in which the whole cast [makes] a last desperate attempt to lure the audience in to see their showI have omitted the  percussion in my arrangement of the finale. The premiere of the ballet resulted in a number of scandals. One faction of the audience booed, hissed, and was very unruly, nearly causing a riot before they were drowned out by enthusiastic applause. Many of their objections were focused on Picasso's cubist design, which was met with cries of sale boche.Arranged wind dectet/bass (double wind quintet).

B-Flat Clarinet,Bassoon,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1195142 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Chamber,Classical,Comedy. 92 pages. RayThompsonMusic #794318. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1195142). Arranged symphonic wind dectet/bassA Musical Joke (in German: Ein musikalischer Spaß) K. 522, (Divertimento for two horns and string quartet) is a composition by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; the composer entered it in his Verzeichnis aller meiner Werke (Catalogue of All My Works) on June 14, 1787. Commentators have opined that the piece's purpose is satirical – that [its] harmonic and rhythmic gaffes serve to parody the work of incompetent composers – though Mozart himself is not known to have revealed his actual intentions. The title A Musical Joke might be a poor rendering of the German original: Spaß does not necessarily connote the jocular, for which the word Scherzwould more likely be used. In Fritz Spiegl's view, a more accurate translation would be Some Musical Fun. The sometimes-mentioned nicknames Dorfmusikantensextett (village musicians' sextet) and Bauernsinfonie (farmers' symphony) were added after Mozart's death. The piece consists of four movements and takes about 20 minutes to perform. Allegro (sonata form), F major Menuetto and trio, F major (trio in B-flat major) Adagio cantabile, C major Presto (sonata rondo form), F major   In a modernised version by Waldo de los Rios, the opening of the finale of A Musical Joke was used for many years as the theme tune to the BBC's Horse of the Year Show. The mp3 is of the Finale.

Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus divisi - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1410812 Composed by music: Eduardo di Capua, lyrics: Giovanni Capurro. Arranged by Bacco Baccanels. 19th Century,A Cappella,Classical,Opera,Traditional. 9 pages. Bacco Baccanels #993210. Published by Bacco Baccanels (A0.1410812). English (for Italian see below)--------This vocal arrangement is quite similar to the original song, rather than a choral arrangement you'll find a rhythmic approach.I only used two phrases of the original three ones, with the beautiful refrain with an harmonic movement at bars 38 and 39.In the ending I took some liberties, there isn't the powerful à la Caruso ending. Instead, after the closing there is a little more complex and dramatic harmonic part.Your attention please: I wrote two arrangements: a richer SATTBB and a simpler SATB; soprano and contralto between the two are different, it is not enough to remove the second tenor and the baritone from SATTBB to obtain SATB.Italiano--------L'arrangiamento vocale è abbastanza simile all'originale per cui piuttosto che un arrangiamento corale ho preferito un approccio ritmico.

Toccata/Hands of Steel II. Strum/Serenade III. O Tanenbaum (Toccata reprise) IV. Two-Part Contention V. John Doe VI. True Pluck A number of years ago, the great English guitarist Julian Bream told David Tanenbaum - the dedicatee of tonight's premiere - not to premiere a guitar work unless he knew for a fact it was the composer's second guitar work. Sage advice. The guitar is an instrument that gives up its secrets to a non-guitar playing composer only reluctantly. Indeed, the timbral, digital and chordal subtleties of this most subtle and intimate instrument are truly understood by the guitarist only. Pity the outlander who composes for the guitar for the first time! With this last thought in mind I had, until last fall, managed to avoid writing a guitar piece. However, even the most abject compositional coward will relent when a musician like David Tanenbaum asks for a piece and offers his assistance and critical judgement in its composition. So it was with PLUCK, composed between November of 1995 and January of 1996. Bream's advice notwithstanding, PLUCK is my first guitar piece. Tanenbaum is brave. The title, PLUCK, thus refers to both the action of plucking strings as well as pluck - bravery, grit, true grit. PLUCK is written in six interrelated movements. The first movement, Toccata/Hands of Steel introduces much of the essential pitch and harmonic material of the piece, as well as Flamenco-style rasgueado strumming which, try as I might, I could not resist using. Movement two, Strum/Serenade, explains itself in its title. Movement three, O Tanenbaum (a designation for which David has forgiven me) reprises the Toccata and describes, well, a sort of musical tree (David has forgiven me for this, too). Two-Part Contention is a combatative, argumentative movement that pits the treble strings of the guitar against the bass. Movement 5, John Doe is a lyric and mysterious moment of rest before the manic finale. Movement 6, True Pluck, is a fast, furious and virtuosic finale. PLUCK is dedicated, with greatest respect and affection, to my friend David Tanenbaum. May he only want to play my second guitar piece.

Published by Dacker Music (A0.814744). Written in commemoration of the upcoming 75th anniversary in 2018 of the death of Sergei Rachmaninoff,A Rachmaninoff Rhapsody presents some of the great Russian composer's best-loved music in acolorful new arrangement for concert band. The first few measures of his wordless song Vocalise provide a gentle introduction, which is cut shortby the restless opening theme from the first movement of the Third Piano Concerto (made even morefamous--or notorious--than it already was by the 1996 film Shine). The title-suggesting centerpiece follows, the beautiful and passionate 18th Variation from Rhapsodyon a Theme of Paganini. That leads to the most familiar of all of Rachmaninoff's Big Tunes, the lush, romantictheme from the finale of his Second Piano Concerto, the coda of which also provides the finale to thistribute.Grade 3+   -   Duration 5:15The price includes license to make as many copies of each part as needed.

Piano Quintet Cello,Piano,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.945599 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Tony Matthews. Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. 84 pages. Archway Publications #6354529. Published by Archway Publications (A0.945599). This Fantasia (or Fantasy) for piano, vocal soloists, chorus, and orchestra, Op. 80, was composed in 1808 by a 38 year old Beethoven. The Fantasia was hastily written to serve as the grand finale for a (personal) benefit concert on the 22nd December 1808 which included premiers of his 5th and 6th symphonies, the 4th Piano concerto and the Mass in C. Beethoven took the opportunity to use the forces available to make this comparatively short piece for piano, orchestra, and a choral finale where he, the soloist, could showoff just how good he was.Sadly, this work is seldom performed because who wants to hire a choir for just 2 minutes of music and an orchestra for not that much longer. This quintet version addresses this by allowing a much smaller ensemble to enjoy performing this utterly delightful work. The piano part is basically what Beethoven wrote, however it has been suitably modified in places to allow the piano to fit into the overall ensemble.
