This selection has been arranged to keep all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (16 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet with a score by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960's and is performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Tchaikovsky's score has become one of his most famous compositions. Some critics have called it astonishingly rich in detailed inspiration and from beginning to end, beautiful, melodious, original and characteristic. The ballet's first complete performance outside Russia took place in England in 1934. The first complete United States performance was on December 24, 1944, by the San Francisco Ballet. It was such an enormous success that the San Francisco Ballet has presented The Nutcracker every Christmas Eve and throughout the winter season, debuting new productions in 1944, 1954, 1967 and 2004. In Salt Lake City, it has been performed every year since 1963. The New York City Ballet gave its first annual performance in 1954. In addition to annual live stagings of the work, many productions have also been televised or released on home video. The Nutcracker continues to be one of Tchaikovsky's most popular compositions and contains some of his most memorable works. Tchaikovsky made a selection of eight of the numbers from the ballet before the ballet's December 1892 premiere, forming The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, and is intended for concert performance. The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on March 19, 1892. The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance, one of the character dances, based on the Russian and Ukrainian folk dance, Trepak, for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the Russian Dance, for a Violoncello Octet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the Russian Dance, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the March as well. Scheduling the March followed by the Russian Dance would be a very satisfying addition to any concert or recital. Please take the time to look for other versions of these compositions. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of the Russian Dance from Tchaikovsky's marvelous holiday favorite, The Nutcracker Suite, will continue to entertain both performers and aud.

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1115994 By Thomas Graf. By Thomas Graf. Arranged by Thomas Graf. 20th Century,Classical,Jazz. 27 pages. Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com #717714. Published by Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com (A0.1115994). Fantasy in 3 movements for large wind ensemble, double bass and percussion 1. Deux Caracteres 2. Dialogues 3. Dance de Confusion Confluence is the name of a place in Lyon where 2 rivers flow together: The Saône flows into the - at least in German - female Rhone. In French, however, it flows into DEN Rhone - Le Rhône. This confuses the composer: How do rivers get their gender, are they sometimes male, sometimes female? Is it because of their character, because of the landscape that they flow through? By their water, even by their fish? On the people on their shores? A real confusion ensues. In the subsequent thoughts about music, the composer discovers certain analogies and asks himself the question: does gender-typical music actually exist? Or instruments? Typically male harmonies or rhythms? Or clearly female melodies and the way to interpret? The 3-movement composition is dedicated to this question and meanders like a dance in the bed of the converging streams. Colorful modal harmonies form the bed for wide arcs of melody. A varied, recurring theme sets the direction and creates a bubbling, dancing pull in the direction of the mouth: dancing finale! 1st movement: Deux Characters In the first movement (Andante) the roles are distributed - the Sâone and the Rhône get their performers. A first glance at the ensemble reveals a tendency: woodwinds take on the female lead, the male brass the counterpart. The two drummers each support one of the two poles in solidarity. The assignment may be obvious, but strong doubts remain in the final chord of the first movement. 2. Dialogues: In smaller and larger dialogues, there is a lively exchange and the properties are worked out and further developed. But it is also increasingly being copied and imitated, even maliciously agitated and aped. You try to convince each other, interrupt each other, both sides increasingly flare up, it gets louder and more hectic, louder and louder, too loud, until communication stops: in the end, you just yell at each other! 3. Dance de Confusion The resulting confusion finds a conciliatory end in the third movement of the composition: Let's dance! In the end, the initial confusion turns into a confusion: what belongs together flows and dances together. Composed by: Thomas H. Graf Arranged by: Thomas H. Restaurador is a historical opera about the time in which it was restored (in the 19th century it would be called reconquistar, while in the 15th century it was called restoration), taking advantage of the strong internal crises of the Muslim world in the South of Spain. Alfonso de Arcos was part of the restoration of Jimena de la Frontera (Cádiz), the town of Estepona (Málaga), helping many situations in North Africa, Alcazarseguer (Morocco), being mayor of Tarifa and who treasured the idea of situation and who will take Gibraltar, being its first mayor. In his last years he settled in Seville in the Monastery of Santa Maria de las Cuevas in La Cartuja, where he died. In which everything received in this historical period testamentally, his inheritance, was not given to the family, but to all the needy people of Tarifa and Gibraltar, and whoever needed it via the Cartuja monastery itself. This was the case with his entire inheritance for 200 years. Of which the family is very proud.Today Alicia Dominguez Arcos is from the Arcos family, the generational wave of Alfonso de Arcos. And today she is the first of this family branch who by chance was born in the area. Since the familiar roads are found in other Spanish cities. This Restorer for “Ibero-America is sung in choir†with SATBB voices in Spanish and English, with moments and words in both Latin and medieval Castilian. They are fragments of the fourth act of the opera, in which Alfonso de Arcos is already in his last moments, already being mayor of Tarifa, and being the first mayor of Gibraltar, circumstances of the will, situations with the friars in the monastery of the Cartuja as with the trance of his death.Being an important time in the southern area of Spain, specifically in the Campo of the Gibraltar.

It was the set piece for C Grade in the New Zealand National Band Contest in 2022. Programme Notes: From a young age, I was always interested in castles and history, and have visited many castles in my home country of Wales, which is sometimes called the “castle capital of the worldâ€. At one time Wales had about 600 castles, of which over 100 are still standing, either as ruins or restored buildings. The remainder have been reduced to ditches, mounds and earthworks. Visiting these amazing historically significant buildings has allowed me to reflect on their importance and purpose. In their day they were the centres of thriving communities and it is through their value as the focus of the community, that the three movements have developed their individual characteristics. The first movement depicts a large formidable castle, towering over the neighbouring lands, exuding power, authority and law, complete with noblemen and knights; the second movement describes the pastoral scenes around the castle, and the commoners going about their ordinary lives; the third demonstrates the military function of the castle which was to protect: when coming under siege, the people eventually triumph, the enemy defeated.

A Cappella,Contest,Festival,Folk,Romantic Period,Traditional. 17 pages. Otniel Simangunsong #842044. Published by Otniel Simangunsong (A0.1247407). Da Natinitip Sanggar is a folksong originated from North Sumatra, Indonesia. This song was composed by Nahum Situmorang (1908 - 1969). He is a composer and musician. In his entire life, Nahum never worked as an employee of the Dutch colonial government. During his youth, he had won many song competitions, including Sumatra Keroncong Concours in Medan (1936). Nahum's skill in creating his own songs as well as singing them made many people admire him. Nahum is able to play a variety of musical instruments and has his own band. Nahum also often creates songs when in the middle of a crowd. Nahum was most prolific in composing songs from 1950 to 1960. Historically, Nahum has never married in his entire life. However, from several sources, Nahum stated that he once loved a woman but he did not reveal it. This song tells about the romantic story of a man who seduces the woman he loves. He fell in love at the first sight and tried to find out about the woman's family. This song is a collection of rhymes called Umpasa in Batak language. The lyrics of this song are closely related to the culture of the Batak tribe, especially about the family tree known as Tarombo. Men and women are not allowed to marry if both are of them are from the same descendant ( one surname / one family tree). Based on this culture, the song Da Natinitip Sanggar shows a man's curiosity about a woman's surname and her biological mother's surname to find out whether they came from the same family tree because if a woman's family name is the same as the man's biological mother's name, it is considered a mate. Otniel Simangunsong is a conductor and composer from Indonesia. He was born in Tanjungbalai, North Sumatra on August 19, 1996. Currently he is a conductor of Benedicamus Chante Choir - Darma Cendika Catholic University Student Choir, Surabaya. He has also got some supports from another professional conductors and composers. This Da Natinitip Sanggar song is packaged as a A Capella choral score which is Soprano, Mezosoprano, Alto, Tenor, Bariton, and Bass. This arrangement features the style of Batak musical instruments such as Taganing, Ogung, and Sarune.

String Ensemble,String Quintet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928964 Composed by John Jacob Niles. Arranged by Donald A. Mills. Folk. Score and parts. 7 pages. Donald A Mills #3400179. Published by Donald A Mills (A0.928964). 2017 CHAMBER MUSIC CONTEST ENTRYI Wonder as I Wander is a Christian folk hymn, typically performed as a Christmas carol, written by American folklorist and singer John Jacob Niles. The hymn has its origins in a song fragment collected by Niles on July 16, 1933.While in the town of Murphy in Appalachian North Carolina, Niles attended a fundraising meeting held by evangelicals who had been ordered out of town by the police. In his unpublished autobiography, he wrote of hearing the song:A girl had stepped out to the edge of the little platform attached to the automobile. She began to sing. Her clothes were unbelievably dirty and ragged, and she too was unwashed. Her ash-blond hair hung down in long skeins.... But, best of all, she was beautiful, and in her untutored way, she could sing. She smiled as she sang, smiled rather sadly, and sang only a single line of a song. The girl, named Annie Morgan, repeated the fragment seven times in exchange for a quarter per performance, and Niles left with three lines of verse, a garbled fragment of melodic material-and a magnificent idea. (In various accounts of this story, Niles hears between one and three lines of the song.) Based on this fragment, Niles composed the version of I Wonder as I Wander that is known today, extending the melody to four lines and the lyrics to three stanzas. His composition was completed on October 4, 1933. Niles first performed the song on December 19, 1933, at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina. It was originally published in Songs of the Hill Folk in 1934.This arrangement of I Wonder As I Wander is a five-part string ensemble, revised 12.12.17.  It was arranged specifically for the 2017 Chamber Music Contest on www.SheetMusicPlus.com. Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1316149 Composed by Jordan Kauflin, Keith Getty, Matt Boswell, Matt Papa, and Matthew Merker. Arranged by Brian Buda. Christian,Contemporary,Easter,Praise & Worship,Religious. Score. 21 pages. Budaful music #904885. Published by budaful music (A0.1316149). This is a softer– though still majestic– piano arrangement of the Getty hymn Christ Our Hope In Life and Death. This song is typically sung with high energy but this setting takes a different route. Full of thoughtful, slightly gospel harmonies and tender, musically reflective moments that offer a challange to the moderately-advanced pianist, this arrangement is ideal for church preludes, offertories, and postludes. Run time is approx 4:15 but depends on which performance options are taken and how fast you go.This setting implements all 3 verses of the song and features a variety of performance options, including an exciting optional key change on the 3rd verse. See the first page of music for more info on the performance options. 2 transpositions are included: Eb-F & F-G.

Fl. Pft. - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM530 Composed by Brian Inglis. Flute and Piano. Score and Part. 29 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM530. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM530). ISBN 9790570484294.The composition of this sonata spans the period of my undergraduate studies at Durham University. In the first movement, an overall A minor feel is challenged by the near-atonal way in which the main gesture is developed; and by the intermittently chromatic, pentatonic and whole-tone scalic material which emerges in the piano accompaniment. In the coda [from bar 100] obsessive repetition of chords and single notes threatens to take over, until the tension is resolved onto bare E's (the note with which the movement began). Part of this movement was written in Siena on a summer holiday with my parents; the vivid presence of the Tuscan cicadas is echoed in the flute's fluttertonguing. The Passacaglia second movement can also be performed as a standalone piece. Shades of Bartok's 'night music' style are evident in the central section, where after a short flute cadenza the soloist flutters and mutters above limpid piano arpeggios. In the outer sections, a calm flute melody appears above the block chords of the piano's passacaglia cycle. In contrast to the heat of Italy, this movement was inspired by the image of an icy river connecting different wintry landscapes of cold light snow. A scherzo finale rounds off the sonata, dominated by trills emerging from a theme which rhythmically reconfigures the main gesture from the opening movement. In the central Trio [bars 39-49] the melody from the second movement is recalled to bind everything together. As with the first movement, the coda [from bar 99] develops its own repetitive momentum.
