Obs.: This piece is the first movement of the Sonata No. 7, part of the VIII Sonatas or Lessons for the Harpsichord.
Performance suggestions for the ornaments are in accordance with the performance practice of the Classical period. Also, in measure 18, some editions show in D natural on the fourth beat of the right hand. Furthermore, in measure 33, it's suggested to add a cadential trill, as this was common practice in Arne's time.

This beautiful tune was written by Felix Mendelssohn in 1845. He titled it Moderato in Bm when it was first published as Op 67 No 5 in a volume of his Songs Without Words. It was often referred to as Heide Lied , a type of pastoral German folk song. Another title derived from that is Song of the Heather. Many current editions give it the title The Shepherd's Complaint.  
This instrumental duet arrangement takes a Romantic piece and sets it in 2 part writing. Even without the chords it is still very rich in sound and Romantic in feel. The metre is always in 3 even when the phrasing looks to be in 2; except for a section near the end where I have strayed from the original Mendelssohn and clearly marked Part II with tenutos to be in 2 against Part I in 3. I have also changed phrasing and articulation for more contrast between the two parts. This arrangement is faithful to the spirit of Mendelssohn yet freshens this beautiful old melody. The notes and rhythms are quite easy to play but I have marked it Early Intermediate because so much could be done with phrasing, articulation, and expression that would make this sound like a much more advanced piece. A great Romantic repertoire piece for students. (2 page score, 1 page Parts)

Ukrainian Folk Carol (often known by another name however) for Bb saxophone and piano (or use the enhanced free demo/backing tracks via request after ordering - details are given on your printed sheet music) by UK composers Chris Lawry and Keri Degg. New for September 2020 this is a very fresh take on this traditional classic and has been launched into a crazy swing/groove style! It's a great showstopper and a real joy to play. The piece includes playful interplay and new original material/solo/s.

After a short, fanfare introduction, Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart presents the hymn tune MARION in three settings: 1. traditional 4/4 hymn form, 2. a more meditative setting in 3/4 time, with the melody in mid range, played by optional handchimes, and 3. a stately setting in 4/4 time with a flowing bass bells accompaniment. The first setting of the hymn tune could also be used, with or without treble instrument, to accompany congregational singing of this hymn. The two editions are written so they may be played together in festivals and other multiple bell choir situations.

A beautifully haunting arrangement of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, for AAT or SAT saxophone trio group of confident beginner standard or mixed ability groupings (the Lower part is generally the easiest). You'll receive the score and also 4 instrumental parts; Sop 1 (alt to Alto 1), Alto 1, Alto 2, and Tenor 3.

This arrangement is one of seven Christmas arrangements from Masquerade Music's (UK) 'Christmas Trios for AAT/SAT Saxophones' (available as the full collection on SMP) designed for small ensembles and have been careful thought out and written (the composer is also a saxophone teacher). 

They are also available in Clarinet, and Flute editions.

SONATA for VIOLA de GAMBA + keyboard

This beautiful sonata (which could easily have been another Brandenburg concerto if Bach had chosen to orchestrate it)  is too good to be just for violists and cellists.

So here’s an arrangement in the Treble clef, which can be played  by FLUTE, or VIOLIN, or SAX, or OBOE, or GUITAR instead of the original solo part in the viola clef.  Also,  the key has been transposed from G minor to A minor.  Except for 2 measures in the first movement it is all playable without any octave jumps.  (those 2 measures have the higher octave alternative written above the original for the wind instruments that can’t go down to A.)

The accompanying keyboard part is available in many print editions and also can be downloaded from public domain sites like IMSLP.

Clarinet, Soprano and Tenor Sax,  can play accompanied by a real piano reading the original keyboard part.  All the other instruments can be accompanied by an electronic keyboard reading the original part if the keyboard  presses the appropriate transpose button.

The High Priestess is a chamber work for mixed instrumentation, including an F Horn with piano, violin, and flute. This piece is inspired by the artwork of the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck, specifically the less credited illustrator of the world famous deck, Pamela Colman Smith. The music represents the symbolism and feeling behind the High Priestess card, with keywords of strength, adaptability, seriousness, intuition, loving understanding, knowledge, introspection, and self-trust. Each instrument is featured throughout, as the main melody and distinct rhythms are traded and dovetailed around the ensemble. The piece begins with a feeling of watery calm (e.g. Venetian Boat songs), ascends to a hopeful journey, moves through tense trials, then returning back to the distant flute melody, followed by a piano “solo� that ultimately inspired this chamber work in the first place. 

This work is great for high school, collegiate, amateur, or professional ensembles, as well as very advanced young chamber players looking for something new and fresh. Rhythms are simple, while expression and musicality can be explored. In performance, be mindful of balance issues, so seating arrangement can be adjusted. I recommend the horn player be seated on the outside, so as not to cover up the flute. Average performance time: ca. 4:30

Other instrumentations are in progress, so please check back for updated editions. The original instrumentation involved the oboe and cello. There is also another version with trombone substituting the F horn.
