Brass Ensemble Horn - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.919037 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by L.C. Harnsberger. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Wedding. Score and parts. 11 pages. LCH Music #6474671. Published by LCH Music (A0.919037). Enigmatic and highly influential composer Erik Satie wrote over three dozen piano works between 1884 and 1920. Some pieces were outlandish such as his Vexations which repeats 840 times and lasts up to 35 hours, and other pieces were simple with absurd titles like his Three Pieces in the Form of a Pear. Perhaps his best-known piece is his first Gymnopédie for piano that was completed in 1888. The piece consists of a simple accompaniment with a long soaring melody above it. The melody is instantly recognizable and was featured in films including My Dinner with Andre, and The Royal Tenenbaums; video games; and on albums by Blood Sweat & Tears, and Gary Numan. It is also found on most Top-50 lists of All-Time Classical Music Favorites. Satie also wrote two additional Gymnopédie with the collection of all three first published in 1898. Claude Debussy famously orchestrated two of them that same year. The long soaring melody and calm mood of this piece works beautifully for horn quartet. Each member gets the melody for an enjoyable performance. This piece is ideal for weddings, worship services, funerals, and any recital.

Guitar Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1463458 Composed by John Dowland (1563-1626). Arranged by Clive Lane. Classical,Renaissance. Score and Parts. 34 pages. Clive Lane #1042156. Published by Clive Lane (A0.1463458). ‘Lachrimæ or Seven Tears figured in Seven passionate pavans, with divers other pavans, galliards and allemands, set forth for the lute, viols, or violons, in five parts’ is a collection of instrumental music composed by John Dowland and published in 1604. Apart from the sheer quality of the music, it is notable as the first publication of English music scored specifically for strings and for lute, and the first to have used the table layout for consort music. There are seven Lachrimae pavans, which are variations on the theme that Dowland had already made famous as a lute solo and a song (“Flow my tears”).The “divers other” compositions are: two almans (“almands”), nine lively galliards (“galiards”), two sombre pavans, and a “funerall.” There are 21 pieces in all and I have divided them into three books, retaining the original ordering of the pieces. This is Book One - the “Lachrimae” pavans:1.     Lachrimae antiquae2.     Lachrimae antiquae novae3.     Lachrimae gementes4.     Lachrimae tristes5.     Lachrimae coactae6.     Lachrimae amantis7.     Lachrimae verae(See Book Two & Book Three for the remaining 14 pieces)For this arrangement for guitar quartet*, I have combined two of the parts (part three and part five) to make guitar 4 (with some minor adjustments).Time values have been halved, and in several cases (Nos. 9,12,15,16,17,20,21), I have transposed the key to a more guitar-friendly key. Clive Lane 2024*Also see my arrangement for guitar quintet.

Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.978843 By Keith Terrett. By Anon. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Baroque,Classical,Instructional,Traditional,Wedding. 6 pages. Keith Terrett #584509. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.978843). A Fanfare for three Bb Trumpets & Timpani. This was arranged from an old melody of unknown origin, for Eb Cavalry Trumpets and Kettledrums of the Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars Band, a former Northern Irish Regiment within the British Army; whose Colonel in Chief was HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Winston Churchill was a young officer in the regiment, before the amalgamation of the 4th & 8th Hussars, to form the ’Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars’’. All cavalry regiments of the line, have a team of Cavalry Trumpets, who under the ’Trumpet Major’, play at 11am each day outside regimental headquarters, for the Regiment. Traditionally the fanfare ’stables’ would be played first; followed by another fanfare of the ’’Trumpet Major’s’’ choice. In cavalry regiments there is often a drum horse, on which the two timpani are positioned and played. An example would be the Queen’s Own Hussars, who for many years had a fine old drum horse, trained not to panic when the kettledrums were being played fortissimo! During the day, one trumpeter is on duty, and plays various trumpet calls throughout the day to signal important happenings in the regiment’s daily schedule of events. For example, Reveille is at 0630, Mess call at 0700, Mess call 1230, Guard mount 1800, Officers dress for dinner 2000, finishing with last post at 2200! There are also trumpet calls for fire, war and mucking out the horses! One morning when I was on trumpet duty in Germany at the tender age of 18, I woke up late, and just managed to play the ’’Reveille’’ trumpet call out of my bedroom window, in an effort not to be ’charged’ for missing a call! The equivalent in the Infantry would be the bugle, which is also used as a method of signaling to the regiment. This fanfare works well for three Bb trumpets and timpani. Eb cavalry trumpets are often written in the key of C, and harmonically there is no third on chord V due to the harmonics of the instrument, and the fact that they have no valves; giving a bare sounding chord. The trills in the first part are lip trills, on Bb trumpet, simply play a lip trill using the valves 1 & 3. The most famous Eb cavalry trumpeters in the British Army, are undoubtedly the trumpeters of the household cavalry, who perform in spectacular golden uniforms, complete with riding hats, at the state opening of parliament. Don’t forget Eb cavalry trumpeters are musicians from the band,(they could be clarinettists),assigned to trumpet for two to three years, not so good for your embouchure!! So when you hear a mis-pitched note in future, you know that the trumpeter could be a bassoonist, doing his or her very best.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.763289 Composed by American Folk Tune. Arranged by Nigel Williams. Folk,Standards. 10 pages. Nigel Williams #3909377. Published by Nigel Williams (A0.763289). This classic American folk tune is arranged for a wind quartet of three flutes and an oboe. A violin could also play if there is no oboe available. The four statements of the melody cover three tonal areas. The oboe is predominantly in the lower and middle register with the flutes in the first and second octave. The gently opening off-beat flute chords are reminiscent of the gently flowing waters, and the oboe and first flute share the melody throughout. While the score has extensive slurring marks added, please use your own judgement to secure the musical result you desire. The performance duration is over three minutes and the full score comes with four separate parts attached.

Large Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955740 Composed by Phil Thrift. Instructional. Score and parts. 26 pages. Phil Thrift #6327375. Published by Phil Thrift (A0.955740). Little Suite for a Jubilee Occasion was written for the 20th anniversary of a music society. It is intended for junior players and can be performed on virtually any combination of five or more woodwind and/or brass instruments. It is based on my own experience of working with such groups. The three short movements – Prelude, Invention, Contrapunctus – are in different keys and encompass different playing styles – majestic, playful, solemn. In Prelude and Invention, a motif played in a first part is repeated in a second part, but those parts alternate, so sometimes the first part follows the second part instead. All three movements are essentially in just three parts and so in many instances different parts are actually identical, dividing only at certain places. The parts included are suitable for the instruments found in groups of learners:flute, oboe, Bb clarinet, bassoonEb alto sax, Bb tenor saxBb trumpet, F/Eb horn, trombone (TC/BC), euphonium (TC/BC), tuba, Bb/Eb bassThe high flute/oboe part is optional, likewise the xylophone and drum parts. If you are not using drummers, then simply omit measures 22 and 23 and begin the Invention at measure 24.In the Contrapunctus it might be a nice effect to double Part 5 on an organ.

Soprano voice and piano - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6665 For soprano and piano. Composed by John Casken. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 12 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6665. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6665). French.Chansons de Verlaine were completed in 2006. The third song, Colloque sentimental, was written in 2003 for Alison Smart and Katharine Durran’s New French Song project. It was as a result of having written one short song to words by Verlaine that I subsequently decided to set two further poems to make a group of three. All three were also set by Debussy: L’ombre des arbres and Chevaux de bois appear in Ariettes Oubliées, while Colloque sentimental belongs to Debussy’s second set of Fêtes Galantes. The poems I have grouped together are linked by the idea of three different landscapes. In the first, Verlaine precedes the words of his own sad, pale landscape with words from Cyrano de Bergerac about a nightingale who fears himself about to fall into a river and drown. In the second poem the landscape has been occupied by a fairground where men, women and children watch as the hobby-horses go round and round before night falls and the church tolls a passing-bell. The third poem takes us into an old park where two ghosts recall their past. The one wonders if the other remembers the happy days of their past lives, but the other doesn’t want to remember, barely acknowledging the closeness they once shared, seeing only that ‘hope has fled, defeated, towards the dark sky.’ I am very grateful to Roger Nichols and Dominique Mols for their advice with the setting of the French texts and with the translations. John Casken Colloque sentimental was first performed by Alison Smart and Katherine Durran at the Purcell Room in London on 13 July 2004.

Here is an easy string trio arrangement (for VIOLIN, VIOLA, and CELLO) of the classic Thanksgiving tune NUN DANKET ALLE GOTT by Johann Crüger and Martin Rinkart. This song is fun for all three parts and is a welcome addition to recitals and worship services throughout the year, but especially during the Thanksgiving season. All three parts lead with the melody at times making this song equally challenging and interesting for all players. All notes for each instrument (VIOLIN, VIOLA, and CELLO) are playable in the first position making this arrangement an excellent choice for early-intermediate string players. This arrangement is in the key of F major which will develop skill using low and/or high fingerings. Also, the timing may be a little tricky at first since there are measures with 5/4 instead of the more conventional use of fermatas. The purchase price includes a 3-page combined score with all three parts on each page plus separate 1-staff scores for the VIOLIN, VIOLA, and CELLO (1 page each). This arrangement is one of the 10 songs in the collection Easy String Trios: Thanksgiving Hymns (A Collection of 10 Easy Trios for Violin, Viola, and Cello).Visit Sharon Wilson's website: https://www.sharonwilsonmusic.com/Subscribe to her YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/@SharonWilsonMusic

Mixed choir (SSAATB) a cappella - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q19097 Three songs for mixed chorus. Composed by Hermann Grosse-Schware. This edition: choral score. Schott Choral Music. Fairy Land sind drei Lieder für gemischten Chor nach Texten von William Shakespeare, die sowohl die Sänger als auch das Publikum in die Welt der Feen entführen. Downloadable, Choral score. Schott Music - Digital #Q19097. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19097). English. With his three songs for mixed a-cappella choir (SSAATB) which were published under the speaking title of 'Fairy Land' in 2013, Hermann Große-Schware takes us to the wonderful land of fairy tales. All three six-part works are based on English-language poems by William Shakespeare. The first piece 'Over hill, over dale' from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' is characterized by melodic sequences and a distinctive rhythm which portrays the content of the piece headed 'Swift and Easy' as does the swaying ¾ rhythm of No. 2 'Philomel, with melody'. In the lively 'Come unto these yellow sands' (No. 3) one seems to be experiencing the barking of the dog and the crowing of the cock at first hand.
