Murray and was first published under the name Luther's Cradle Hymn, in his collection Dainty Songs for Little Lads and Lasses, in 1887. It was intended for use in kindergarten, school and home.In this selection, Regis Bookshar has arranged three verses of this popular Christmas carol for an Alto Saxophone Quintet. Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.887255 Composed by Charles-Louis Hanon. Arranged by Martin Woodward. Instructional. Score. 37 pages. Martin Woodward #6513221. Published by Martin Woodward (A0.887255). Hanon Piano / Keyboard Exercises 1 - 30Condensed and Simplified for Beginners Easy ReadingIn this short book you will find condensed and simplified versions of the Hanon piano finger exercises 1 - 30 as well as the major, harmonic minor and melodic minor scales in every key (two octaves). What is Hanon? The ‘Hanon Virtuoso Pianist’ is a collection of piano finger exercises designed to give equal strength, agility and flexibility to all five fingers of both hands. Written by Charles-Louis Hanon sometime in the 1800s, these exercises without doubt have become one of the most widely used techniques by today’s pianists. In my opinion these are the best finger exercises available. One really great thing about these exercises is that they are applicable to both absolute beginners and advanced players alike, particularly as the reading ability required is minimal. Whatever your ability, these exercises will help improve your technique and finger strength. Having been written well over 100 years ago, the original work is now in the public domain and therefore digital copies can be acquired free of charge on the internet. However, most of these are very poor quality and the instructions are mainly in French or Russian - neither of which work too well for me! For the full version I personally recommend the ‘Alfred’ Edition edited by Allan Small which is clear and has instructions in English. So why do I need this book? The whole point is to make it easy to read and to reduce page turns - less is more! In the full version the first 30 exercises take up fifty pages whereas here there are three exercises per page for the first 20, then two per page for the next 10, reducing the fifty pages to just twelve. I initially produced this for my own use only but figured that others may like to take advantage of what I’ve done. Does this mean that the print is just smaller? No, not at all. If you are familiar with these exercises you will know that they are repeated patterns which ascend and descend for two octaves diatonically. To condense and simplify them and consequently eliminate an enormous amount of page turns I have shown: the all-important fingering on the first pattern (as per the original)then the repeated second patternthen ‘changeover’ patterns between ascending and descending - which are sometimes slightly differentthen finally the last pattern of each exercise which again is often very slightly different. I have also written them two octaves apart (for easy reading) and only shown them for one octave instead of two. In practice they should be played one octave apart and ultimately be practiced for two octaves. You can print out any or all the pages as required (the link for the pdf printable version is given at the end of the book). Please see: https://learn-keyboard.co.uk/hanon.html

Full Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.869366 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 89 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #33639. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869366). Instrumentation: 2222-2211-timp-perc-hp-pf-strings. Program note. SYMPHONY No.1, subtitled Fallen Angels and commissioned by Bruce Hangen and the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, is in three movements - I. Prince of Darkness II. Waltz!!!III. Lilith's Lament. The first movement begins in a dark, underground world, the world of the Prince of Darkness. Melodies emerge, growing, evolving gradually ... transforming ... finally, explosively ... into a syncopated danse macabre. The movement ends, agitatedly, in a quasi-scherzo fashion, scurrying from the lower depths of the orchestra to a heavenly cadence in C major. The second movement is a dance for the Prince and Lilith. [In talmudic lore, Lilith was regarded as a devilish being, and as Adam's first wife.] Each segment of this movement begins at first cautiously, and then very quickly reaches an ecstatic outburst of shouts and exclamations. A middle trio section offers a contrast of lyric introspection and contemplation. The third and last movement is rather sad and melancholy. Ironically, it is again in C major. The solo flute coupled with two bassoons is the main feature, with a Gil Evans-like wind choir floating in and out ... The work is dedicated to Miles, the original Prince of Darkness.Audio link: https://thomasoboelee.bandcamp.com/album/symphony-no-1-fallen-angels-1993-rev-1995

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797741 Composed by Josef Ivanovici. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 21 pages. Derek Hasted #4363453. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797741). THE DANUBE WAVES - for THREE GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This isn’t just one little Waltz - the original work was, in fact, 4 Waltzes played end to end. The first one is perhaps the most famous, but the others are charming too. Here we have all four plus an introduction too.My guitar trio arrangement is based on a facsimile of an original piano reduction with extra countermelodies to thicken the texture. This composition has been arranged by many people to be played on piano or by full orchestra, and quite often one or more of the waltzes is omitted, or they are played in a different order or a different number of times. It’s fair to say there are probably a dozen variants! More than that, each arranger seems to take it upon themselves to write an introduction. In keeping with that tradition, I have penned an introduction too... it’s a mysterious, slightly slow, statement of the first theme, which, as the first Waltz starts, comes alive at tempo. In this particular arrangement, I’ve made sure everyone has the tune at some point - with about five minutes of music here, it’s not right that some parts are in the limelight and others aren’t - music is for sharing! At phrase boundaries, the roles of tune, countermelody and accompaniment all move round. In concert, one might consider omitting one of the Waltzes if time is at a premium.

Cello,Cembalo,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1224544 Composed by Jose Bravo. Baroque,Chamber,Classical,Early Music. 107 pages. Jose Bravo #820650. Published by Jose Bravo (A0.1224544). From the Composer:I committed last year (2022) to review my musical works that have been in digital storage, complete them as necessary, and release them for the world to hear. I finally finished my first work on this list, one that's been on my hard drive in one version or another since 1999 (that's 24 whole years!).Las Follias de España (which despite its name, originally came from Portugal) is a chord progression usually in either D minor or G minor in the form of i-V-i-VII-III-VII-i-V. Composers for the last 500 years have used this chord progression to come up with some fantastic theme and variations, ranging from unaccompanied works, trio sonatas, to even full orchestral implementations. You can spend a looooong time listening to all the beautiful compositions that composers have made over the centuries highlighting this very captivating set of chords.I humbly submit my own version of La Folia in D minor for String Trio and Cembalo (harpsichord). I wrote my first version of this in my senior year of High School as a challenge to myself to write music in a genre I loved. I made updates here and there over the years, but its sat on a hard drive the entire time. It's taken me months to essentially rework it to my satisfaction and has been submitted for copyright. I have uploaded it to YouTube to share with others.BIG SHOUT OUTS to the three composers that inspired me in this work:Corelli: - His version of La Folia is probably the most popular for violinists, especially those that play out of the Suzuki books. I included a modified version of his Folia (Variation 9) in my work (with all other parts being vastly different from his interpretation) as an homage to his work.J.S. Bach - He showed me that music can be as intelligent as it is beautiful. I have two variations inspired by his work. Variation 8 is one that I wrote this year (2023) which I wanted to write for a long time is a variation that showcases the Harpsichord. Bach's keyboard works and unaccompanied violin works inspired me here. Second, Variation 14 I feel has Bach's inspiration all over it. The violin parts are each playing separate distinct melodies in double counterpoint which trade parts on the repeat. The bass line follows a pattern that Bach has employed for the bass on a number of Violin concertos and lastly, the Harpsichord treble part is a mensuration canon based on one of the violin parts, with the keyboard part playing the melody 4x as fast with variations. Lastly on a play of numbers, number 14 was a very special number for Bach, and as a tribute, I've made this the 14th variation in my work. This was also a new variation I added this year (2023) as well.Vivaldi - My first musical love. I feel that I captured a little bit of his musical DNA in all my works and this piece showcases this. Vivaldi's works is what made me fall in love with Baroque music and I am indebted to him for the profound impact his works have had on my life.So here you go. 413 measures. My longest individual work to date. And because I love playing with numbers, I decided to release this to the world on my 41st Year, 3rd month. Enjoy!-  Jose Bravo.

And Can It Be was written in 1738 to celebrate Wesley's conversion, which he regarded as having taken place on May 21 of that year. This beautiful hymn has been popular and enduring. And Can It Be That I Should Gain is perhaps one of the most joyfully poignant hymns penned by Charles Wesley (1707-1788). On Whitsunday (Pentecost), May 21, 1738, three days before his brother John experienced his heart strangely warmed,’ Charles was convalescing in the home of John Bray, a poor mechanic, when he heard a voice saying, In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, arise, and believe, and thou shalt be healed of all thy infirmities. The voice was most likely Mr. Bray’s sister who felt commanded to say these words in a dream.Anglican hymn writer Timothy Dudley-Smith, notes that the following then happened:Charles got out of bed and opening his Bible read from the Psalms: He have put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God, followed by the first verse of Isaiah 40, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. He wrote in his journal, I have found myself at peace with God, and rejoiced in the hope of love Christ (Dudley-Smith, 1987, 1).The statement from Mr. Bray’s sister sparked within Charles a conviction like he had never felt before. Moved and convicted in spirit, Charles wrestled with these words until he came to rest in his faith, knowing that it is by faith we are saved (Ephesians 2:8).Soon after this conversion experience, he wrote two hymns in celebration of the amazing love he had come to know: And Can It Be that I Should Gain and Where Shall My Wondering Soul Begin? (United Methodist Hymnal, 342)There has been some debate as to which hymn was written first, but most current scholarship accepts the latter as the first hymn written by Charles after his conversion experience. No matter its place in the chronology of Wesley's output, And Can It Be has been and remains one of his most remarkable hymns, expressing like no other the rapturous joy of receiving salvation. And Can It Be That I Should Gain. Small Ensemble Piano Accompaniment,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1022806 Composed by Yoonjee Kim. Contemporary,Standards,World. Score and parts. 16 pages. Yoonjee Kim #3417615. Published by Yoonjee Kim (A0.1022806). Sang Yeo (A Hearse) is a programmatic work based on a Korean traditional funeral. The Korean funeral is rather a ceremony with a brilliantly decorated coffin and a group of choruses singing a traditional funeral tune throughout the entire process. The piece consists of three sections: The first section represents the scene where the coffin is brought to the burial site. The opening chord in the piano symbolizes the head of the mourning parade who rings a small bell while the casket is carried to its final resting place. The mood of the first section is heaving sounding by employing the lowest register of the piano and using triple stops in the violin while maintaining a slow tempo. The second section characterizes the process of burying the coffin. It implies an irritating, aggressive and desperate atmosphere of the people who cannot face the death and the separation of the recently deceased. The minor second interval, staccatos on the fast passage scales and the constant banging rhythm support the ambiance of this section. The last section corresponds to the return of the parade. It resembles the first section mostly with the grief, regrets and sighs. The high pitch glissando in the violin and the figure in the piano’s low register express the distance between the soul and the human.

String Ensemble,String Quintet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.775995 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 73 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2035285. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.775995). Viola Quintet (Unquiet Parables) (2009) was commissioned by the Vienna Soloists and is dedicated to Jack Melby and Jane Thompson. The work is in three movements, each sharing the same basic musical material. The starting point for the music is dissonant cadential figuration centered on Ab (taken from the voice leading of American colonial-era music). Spinning out from this idea, the material extends to incorporate a sonority formed from perfect 5ths one semitone apart. Irregular phrase lengths and cadences are used as the basis of the work’s large-scale structures. The first movement, Recitatives and Chorales, consists of free, recitative-like material for the instruments in solo. These recitatives often erupt into fast spirals. This texture is interrupted periodically by chorale-like ideas presented by the full quintet. The second movement, Serenata, is a song-like with each instrument taking the melody in turn. Some of the recitative-ideas of the first movement re-emerge, as well as a re-articulation of the cadential figuration. The third movement, Ductia, is energetic and driving. A ductia is a Medieval stamping dance resembling the estampie. The driving (yet sometimes off-kilter) character of the dance is interrupted by a recollection of the first movement’s material. The final resolution of the extended cadential figurations occurs at the end, and the work ends exuberantly with a flourish in Ab major.

Piano Trio,String Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.966297 Composed by David F Golightly. Contemporary. Score and parts. 151 pages. Modrana Music Publishers Ltd #3002975. Published by Modrana Music Publishers Ltd (A0.966297). The Piano Trio no 1 was commissioned, premiered and recorded by the Fenice Trio in 2002. This substantial piano trio contained much of Golightly's symbolism and is festooned with the composers use of DFG codes. Stylistically, it represents a landmark in the genre development of Golightly, linked as it is to much of the melodic and harmonic language of his first symphony. I highly personal work it is only for the most advanced piano trios. The duration is 26 minutes. Score and parts.Review. Piano Trio Letters of Regret. (2001/2)David Golightly's piano trio Letters of Regret was commissioned by The Fenice Trio, composed during the summer of 2001 and completed in February 2002. The first performance took place at the Middlesbrough Theatre in June 2002. The work is in three movements (Demon, Angel and Regrets). Demon, the shortest movement of the work, opens with a rhythmical gesture from the piano, soon joined by the strings. This moderately fast movement is actually some sort of whimsical Allegretto sometimes of Russian flavour. Reviewing David's First Symphony, the composerArthur Butterworth remarked that Golightly might well be a British Shostakovich.Indeed, the Piano Trio calls the Russian composer to mind, particularly so in this slightly ironic movement that rises up to a short-lived ghostly climax abruptly cut short. Angel opens mysteriously with ethereal static string textures softly punctuated by the piano. Later, the string's sustained notes are gently accompanied by piano arpeggios. Then the strings, and later the piano, make some unsuccessful attempts at a tune, hesitantly so and with some glissandi contradicting the attempted melody. Eventually, the cello, followed by the violin, launches a sorrowful lyrical  song, still disrupted by nervous interjections eventually short-lived.The Angel movement, though remains emotionally and harmonically ambiguous throughout. It too ends unobtrusively. The Demon and Angel movements actually act as a twofold introduction to the last movement. Regrets that is some sort of theme and seven variations, a series of letters, written but not sent,as the composer remarks. This predominantly lyrical, often nostalgic movement is the emotional heart of what is obviously a deeply personal statement on the composer's part. Golightly's Piano Trio is a superbly crafted, beautifully moving work, not unworthy its models(Shostakovich or John Ireland), and a highly personal, quite accessible work of substance that deserves wider recognition and that should be eagerly picked-up by trios willing to add a new substantial work to their repertoire.Hubert Culot. Downloadable, score and parts. Duration 10 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q16961. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q16961). This diptych consists of two brief contrasting movements which however have a common focus on the amalgamation and fusion of tonal colour in the three instruments. The harmonic foundations of the first movement are provided by ring modulation spectrums although these are also based on equal-tempered tuning in semitones. In the manner of a deep intake of breath, life is breathed into the first movement through numerous clashes, contrasting registers and runs at lightning speed. The second movement has an unmistakable focus on tonal colouring and the concept of echo and reverberation complemented by simple acoustic effects, unfolding a substantially extended tonal spectrum in continuation of the first movement.
