Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.877669 Composed by Samuel Micah Hunter. A Cappella,Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Folk,Sacred. Octavo. 2 pages. Samuel Hunter #3417659. Published by Samuel Hunter (A0.877669). A small, simple, and sensitive work for a capella SATB choir, The First Witnesses explores the birth of Jesus from the perspective of the animals present in the stable in Bethlehem.  Each verse presents Jesus as both newborn baby and Lord of all creation, including the very animals who were the first witnesses to his birth.  This piece was premiered by the Chamber Choir of Stillwater Christian School in December of 2016, a mere three weeks after its composition.  Hunter says of the piece: It was presented to the choir as a 'read through' piece in rehearsal, but instantly became a favorite and was added to our concert program at the last minute.  It has since become a staple of our Christmas literature, and has consistently been a Christmas favorite for both our choirs and our audiences.  Easy to learn, fun to sing, and celebrating a childlike imagination of the first Christmas, The First Witnesses is a true singer's song, which makes it enjoyable to rehearse and perform.  The simple, pentatonic melody lends the piece a folk flavor, and the men and women both get chances to shine in their respective soli sections.  A beautiful ooh refrain ends each verse, including the last.

It is the first of Two Pieces for Small Orchestra, the second piece being Summer Night on the River, although these have for many years existed separately on recordings and in the concert hall. The piece opens with a slow three-bar sequence; its first theme is an exchange of cuckoo calls. The second theme is  taken from a Norwegian folk song, In Ola Valley, which was brought to his attention by the Australian composer and folk-song arranger Percy Grainger. (The theme was also arranged by Edvard Grieg in his 19 Norwegian Folksongs, Op. 66.)The clarinet returns with the cuckoo calls before the piece ends in pastoral fashion.Arranged symphonic wind and contra bass/tuba.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.909873 Composed by Christopher Benfield. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score. 9 pages. Christopher Benfield #4283165. Published by Christopher Benfield (A0.909873). Christopher Benfield's first piano sonata, Recluse, combines classical style with the emotional explosiveness found in much of his compositional style. Composed of three movements, this piece will challenge many pianists technically and expressively. Each movement explores the different aspects of being secluded from society; heart-wrenching loneliness in the first movement, furious activity in the second movement, and dream-like acceptance in the third movement. This music is a good addition to any piano recital, or a full performance of solely this work. This is the first movement of the sonata.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1249438 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Chamber,Christian,Easter,Historic. 29 pages. Regis Bookshar #842032. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1249438). Three selections based on Christ lag in Todesbanden (Christ lay in death's bonds) (from Cantata No.   4, BMV   4) - Johann Sebastian Bach - Brass Quintet (3 Trps, 1 Hrn, 1 Trb) - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download.Cantata No.   4, BMV   4, Christ lag in Todesbanden (also spelled Todes Banden) (Christ lay in death's bonds) is a cantata for Easter written by Johann Sebastian Bach and is his earliest surviving Church Cantata. It was probably written in 1707 when he was 22 years old. It is a Chorale Cantata a style in which both the text and music are based on a hymn. In this instance, the source was Martin Luther's hymn of the same name which became a main Easter hymn in German Lutheranism.Regis Bookshar has transcribed and arranged three selections based on this hymn, two from Bach's Cantata No.   4, BMV   4, and also his Chorale Prelude, BMV 625.  They may be played individually or as a trilogy and each movement is more complex than the previous one. The first selection in this trilogy is the Chorale, Christ lag in Todesbanden, the final chorus from his Cantata No.   4, a straightforward four-part chorale setting of the hymn (Regis has also added a fifth part). This is followed by Bach's Chorale Prelude, BMV 625, a piece from his Orgelbuchlein (Little Organ Book), a collection of 46 Preludes for organ, written almost exclusively during the 1708-1717 period, while Bach was court organist at Weimar. For the final selection, Regis has placed the polyphonic and imitative chorus, Es war ein wunderlicher Krieg, da Tod und Leben rungen (It was a strange battle, that death and life waged), which Bach had placed in the middle of his Cantata No.   4.This arrangement is for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 3 Bb Trumpets, 1 French Horn and 1 Trombone. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (29 pages).I hope you will enjoy playing these selections and please search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. There are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. I think you will be pleased with what you may find.

Flute Duet Flute - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.773342 Composed by Various. Arranged by Yoel Epstein. Instructional,Jewish,Standards,World. Score. 7 pages. Yoel Epstein #4804801. Published by Yoel Epstein (A0.773342). Three of Israel's most beloved melodies.  Â·        Hava Nagila (Let us rejoice) was written in 1917 in Jerusalem by Avraham Zvi Idelssohn, considered to be the father of Israeli music. Idelssohn's research into the music cultures of the different Jewish communities of Jerusalem laid the foundation for the growth of a unique melding of east and west that is the Israeli musical style. ·        Hevenu Shalom Aleichem (We brought you peace) was first published in 1910 by the musicologist Franz Haverel, as a Turkish folk melody Sala'am Aleikum. It came to Palestine in the same year, as an advertisement for Turkish cigarettes; the tune was printed on the package. ·        Hayu Leilot (There were nights) was written by Mordecai Zeira in 1938 to a poem by Yaakov Orland. Though this song is little known outside of Israel today, it is one of my favorites, and I hope will become one of yours as well. You are also welcome to try some of my other arrangements. In addition to the songs offered on this site (you can see them at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=Yoel+Epstein ), I have arranged three songs from the Holocaust, which I arranged and distribute for free on IMSLP. You can find them at http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Ravpapa. If you need arrangements of any of these songs for special combinations of instruments, feel free to contact me, and I will try to accommodate. Write me at yoelepst@gmail.com.  Hope you enjoy.

Three Images from the Hubble Telescope consists of three musical meditations on pictures taken through the telescope. The work can be performed with or without projected images. I. NGC 4907 The barred spiral galaxy known as NGC 4907 shows its starry face from 270 million light-years away to anyone who can see it from the Northern Hemisphere. II. Interstellar Comet Borisov On Aug. 30, 2019, when amateur astronomer Gennady Borisov gazed upward with his homemade telescope, he spotted an object moving in an unusual direction. Now called 2I/Borisov, this runaway point of light turned out to be the first confirmed comet to enter our solar system from some unknown place beyond our Sun’s influence. III.  Rose Galaxies The image shows a large spiral galaxy apparently attached to another one by a swirl of stars – a rose-like effect caused by the gravitational pull of the galaxy below it. The sprinkling of blue jewel-like points across the top of the larger galaxy is the combined light from clusters of intensely bright and hot young blue stars. These massive stars glow fiercely in ultraviolet light.Duration:  11:30

Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818259). Three Psalms (Movement 2) Psalm 3 Deliver Me! ♫ Tone Poem for Violin and Piano by Stephen R Dalrymple♫ transcribed for solo flute, clarinet, trumpet, euphonium/trombone, & cello ♫ music © 2015 Stephen R Dalrymple♫ recording ℗ 2020 Stephen R Dalrymple♫ presentation © 2023 Stephen R Dalrymple  ♫ sequenced by the composer ♫ Psalm 3 is classed as a Psalm of Lament. The most basic pattern of the Psalm of Lament is the complaint followed by a statement of confidence. The Psalm of Lament progresses from the pain, doubt, and confusion caused by problems and suffering to a statement of belief that God knows and understands and will act for the good of the psalmist. This statement of confidence is not given after God has rescued, but while the psalmist is still in crisis. This is what makes the words a Psalm and not faithless murmurings that God condemns.♫ The opening words of the Psalm, “A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son,†(NASB) are actually the first verse of the Psalm 3 in the Hebrew Bible, not merely an editorial comment by a current scholar. The grief and pain that David felt in this time of his life (mixed in with the guilt of David’s adultery and murder which led to these events) were overpowering and crippling.♫ The movements of the tone poem “Three Psalms†are written using contemporary classical music composition techniques.♫ David’s complaint is set in the Phrygian Mode; David’s statement of confidence, the Mixolydian Mode.♫ This .pdf file includes 14 score choices • Letter size score for Violin & piano • Letter size solo parts for Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Euphonium (or trombone), & Cello • 10 inch tablet size score for violin & piano • 10 inch tablet size score for the same solo parts. ♫ (Tell your computer which pages you want to print. Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1410772 By Justin K. Reeve. By Justin K. Reeve. Arranged by Justin K. Reeve. Christmas,Holiday,New Age,Traditional. Score. 4 pages. Justin Kenlon Reeve #993168. Published by Justin Kenlon Reeve (A0.1410772). Crafted in 1857 by John Henry Hopkins, Jr., “We Three Kings†stands as a perennial ode to the Nativity story, drawing inspiration from the biblical account in Matthew 2, where visitors from the East present gifts to the newborn Jesus. While the Bible does not specify their number or title them as “kings,†Hopkins introduced the imaginative trio — Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar — in his carol, each carrying symbolic gifts that have woven themselves into the fabric of Christmas lore. The first of these gifts, gold, serves as a regal tribute, symbolizing Jesus as a king and emphasizing his divine authority. It’s a nod to the recognition of his elevated status. Frankincense, the second offering, not only possesses aromatic allure but also holds spiritual significance. In the biblical context, its smoke was thought to carry prayers heavenward, making it a fitting symbol for acknowledging Jesus’ divine nature and spiritual importance. The third and perhaps most poignant gift is myrrh, an aromatic resin associated with burial rituals. This gift, laden with symbolism, foreshadows Jesus’ sacrificial journey and eventual crucifixion. Myrrh becomes a poignant acknowledgment of the mortality inherent in Jesus’ earthly existence, tying together the joy of his birth with the somber events that would unfold in his life. The enduring appeal of “We Three Kings†lies not only in its musical composition but also in its ability to distill profound theological themes into a simple and evocative narrative. The carol has become a cherished part of Christmas traditions, resonating through generations as it invites listeners to reflect on the profound meanings woven into the fabric of the Nativity narrative.
