Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.507113 By Nicolas Horvath. By Hélènede Monteroult. Arranged by Paul Wehage (editor). Classical,Contest,Festival. Score. 55 pages. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.507113). Hélène de Montgeroult was born into an aristocratic family in Lyon and studied piano with Nicolas Joseph Hüllmandel and Jan Ladislav Dussek. She married the Marquis de Montgeroult who died as an Austrian prisoner in 1793. Reportedly it was respect for her compositions that allowed her to survive the French Reign of Terror. A set of improvisations on La Marseillaise, performed for the Committee of Public Safety, earned her her freedom after she was imprisoned in the Revolution due to her aristocratic background. After her husband's death, Montgeroult took a position at the new Paris Conservatoire in 1795, the first female professor ever to be appointed there and taught for two years. She is considered to be an important bridge between the Classical and Romantic styles. She died in 1836 in Florence, Italy. Recorded for Grand Piano by Nicolas Horvath.

Instrumental Duet Cello,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802584 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 1 pages. Peet du Toit #5805657. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802584). Children's Corner, L. 113, is a six-movement suite for solo piano by Claude Debussy. It was published by Durand in 1908, and was first performed by Harold Bauer in Paris on 18 December that year. In 1911, an orchestration by André Caplet was premiered and subsequently published. At the time of its composition, Golliwoggs were in fashion, due partly to the popularity at that time of the novels of Florence Kate Upton (golliwog is a later usage). They were stuffed black dolls with red pants, red bow ties and wild hair, somewhat reminiscent of the blackface minstrels of the time. The cakewalk was a dance or a strut, and the dancer with the most elaborate steps won a cake (took the cake). The piece is a ragtime with its syncopations and banjo-like effects. The dynamic range is quite large and very effective.
