Here's a treatment of the Buddy Rich Band's arrangement of Mercy Mercy Mercy, significantly tamed for range and skipping the improv solos (feel free to plug something in for a player with that skill). This one works for musicians of more modest talents. It does regrettably include (true to the Rich version) the Florida State University tomahawk chop tune; I'm a University of Florida Gator, so that part is painful.

The harmonic writing is accessible but the ranges and dynamics are extended and best suited for advanced singers.

Peter Gunn is the theme music for a Private Investigator TV series by the same name. Mancini won an Emmy and two Grammy awards for this music. The tuba ostinato creates a sinister effect, with intriguing chords by the other players and a trumpet solo. It sounds more like rock music than it is jazz. Enjoy!

A classic for the wind band, SEA SONGS is a delightful piece to play. But due to early 20th century scoring practices, the Bass Clarinet part is written very high in range – almost like a 4th Clarinet part. And most of what it plays is doubled in other voices (saxes, euphonium, etc.). This means today's band loses the added sonority of the low register of the Bass Clarinet. 

This special part puts the Bass Clarinet back in the low register and doubles the Tuba line. Much more enjoyable for your Bass Clarinetist! Also included is a second specially-constructed part which includes most of the Bassoon 2 line interwoven with the Tuba line. Choose which one works best for your player/band.
