Wales is often referred to as “The Land of Song” and singing has always been an important part of Welsh culture. There are many hundreds of Welsh folk songs, some of which are now recognized internationally. The three songs in this publication were originally from a set of six arranged for mezzo-soprano and piano in 1963 when the arranger, Colin Kirkpatrick was a music student in London. These new arrangements for cello and piano have retained many features of the original but have been slightly adapted for instrumental use. The three songs are: 1.
