This music is a set of warm-up chorales for concert band, offering variety when warming up one's band. Bach is the standard when it comes to chorales, and folk song chorales can add a new melodies and harmonies to the fundamentals taught during warm-up. In arranging these chorales, harmonies more idiomatic to the modern day concert band scoring are used, especially at the Grade II/III level. The folk songs included are Loch Lomond, The Parting Glass, Slumber My Darling, and Scarborough Fair.

The Folk Uke series offers a musical construction kit for traditional folk songs. Each song begins with the vocal part set for medium voice with chords for ukulele. This is followed by a fingerstyle accompaniment and a ukulele solo with introduction and coda. These different parts can be assembled in different ways, for example, very simply, with voice and strummed chords, or more elaborately: intro, verse 1 with chords, verse 2 with fingerstyle accompaniment followed by the solo, verse 3, etc., or as a duet, with uke 1 playing the melody and uke 2 playing chords or fingerstyle accompaniment. 

The traditional ballad, Geordie, tells a tragic tale set to a plaintive Aeolian mode melody. The vocal part is in two sections: for solo voice and in two-part harmony (the latter should be sung a cappella). This arrangement is for voice(s) and ukulele with re-entrant GCEA tuning. Lithuanian Folk Suite, Op. 150 (2022) was commissioned by an American concert organist James D. Hicks for his project Baltic Sojourn. It consists of 4 movements (the optimistic March, the playful Scherzo, the thoughtful Meditation and the fiery Finale) each based on some of the most famous Lithuanian folk songs: I. March Palinko liepa Å¡alia kelio, II. Scherzo Oi lekia, lekia, III. Meditation Oi giria, giria, IV. Finale AÅ¡ padainuosiu. The video example is the premiere performance by James D. Hicks at St. Casimir's church in Vilnius, Lithuania on August 22, 2023. This suite will be very suitable to expand any concert program with colourful, original-sounding, yet listener-friendly music.
