Bulgarian Folksongs Makedonska Devojce & AkoUmram have been in the Balkan repertoire for centuries. These two popular folk songs are arranged here for the first time for Clarinet Quartet. The original pieces were likely played on an accordian or violin. Thanks to Tony Booker of Victoria BC Canada for travelling to Bulgaria and Macedonia to discover these everlasting melodies.

Three Folksongs from the County of Csík by Béla Bartók is a set of twenty-two arrangements by Béla Bartók of traditional folk melodies from the region of Csík in Transylvania, which was then part of Hungary. Composed in 1915, the work features intricate harmonies and rhythmic motifs that reflect Bartók's deep interest in the music of Eastern Europe.

Ralph Sauer has beautifully set 3 of the 22 melodies for Tenor Trombone and Piano and they are appropriate for advanced performers.

Alan Bullard's Three English Folksongs are arrangements of three contrasted songs: the lively 'The Brisk Young Widow' which tells of an unsuccessful wooing and an unexpected romance, is followed by the sorrowful and expressive 'Willow Song'. The last song, 'Cob-o'-coalin' is a traditional song for Bonfire night and forms a witty conclusion to the set.
