Manhã de Carnaval (Carnival Morning) is a song by Brazilian composer Luiz Bonfá and lyricist Antônio Maria. It appeared as the main theme in the 1959 Portuguese-language film Orfeu Negro by French director Marcel Camus. The song has become a jazz standard in the U.S. where it is also known as A Day in the Life of a Fool, Carnival, Theme from Black Orpheus, or simply Black Orpheus. Manhã de Carnaval became one of the first Bossa Nova compositions to gain popularity outside Brazil; it has been recorded by a wide variety of artists worldwide. This arrangement for SATB Saxophone Quartet features the alto in an optional improved solo. It can be used in a variety of concert and performance settings. Duration is 4:13.
