Blue Moon is a popular song written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in 1934 that has become a standard ballad.  Blue Moon became an international number-one hit for the doo-wop group the Marcels, on the Billboard 100 chart and in the UK Singles Chart, and later that same year, an instrumental version by the Ventures charted at No. 54. Over the years, Blue Moon has been covered by many artists, including versions by Frank Sinatra, Jo Stafford, Ella Fitzgerald, Elvis Presley, Bobby Vinton, Sam Cooke, the Platters, Liberace, Dean Martin, Yvonne De Carlo, the Supremes, Cyndi Lauper, New Edition, Bob Dylan, Chromatics, and Rod Stewart.  See Lyrics below:

At the height of his fame from the 1950s to 1970s, he was the highest-paid entertainer in the world!

'Have You Met Miss Jones?' is a song from the 1937 Broadway musical I'd Rather Be Right, a Depression-era political satire set in New York City about Washington politics and political figures such as President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The plot centres on Peggy Jones and her boyfriend Phil, who needs a raise in order for them to get married; the President ultimately steps in and solves their dilemma. This jazz standard has been covered by many artists over the years, including George Shearing, Anita O'Day, Frank Sinatra, Robbie Williams and Seth MacFarlane - it is also cited as a potential inspriation, in its bridge passage, for saxophonist John Coltrane. This arrangement has been created from the jazz combo version by Michael Philip Mossman and features short solos (with suggested lines and chords) for clarinet, flute, trumpet and alto sax, with drum breaks towards the end.

I Didn't Know What Time It Was is a popular song composed by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Lorenz Hart for the 1939 musical Too Many Girls. Introduced by Richard Kollmar and Marcy Westcott in the stage musical, early hit versions were recorded by Benny Goodman (vocal by Louise Tobin) and by Jimmy Dorsey (vocal by Bob Eberly). The song was later interpolated into the score of the 1957 film Pal Joey, sung by Frank Sinatra, and has become a jazz standard. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We also added some pretty cool left-hand fills just for fun! We hope you like what we've done with this grand old tune!

This 1934 Jazz Standard has a storied beginning when Rodgers and Hart were asked by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to write songs for the film Hollywood Party.  The lyrics were reworked many times, ending up with this more romantic version, which was used as the theme to the radio program Hollywood Hotel.  It became a staple for movie soundtracks and cabaret shows.
It has had many covers since then, including Glen Gray and the Casa Loma Orchestra, Connee Boswell, Elvis Presley, The Marcels, Billy Holiday, Mel Torme, Frank Sinatra, Rod Stewart, and even Eric Clapton, to name a few.
This arrangement for Brass Band presents the heartwarming love tale with a nostalgic feel.  The Horns lead the way, with some solo opportunities for the Euphonium, Solo Cornet, Soprano Cornet, and Solo Trombone.
This is a great crowd pleasure and sure to be a hit for concerts!
