This arrangement for string quartet (or 3 violins and cello) combines the familiar praise song Set My Spirit Free with an original piece by Sharon Wilson titled Soar on Eagles' Wings. Composed of simple, flowing harmonies this instrumental piece is especially appropriate for the meditative portion of a worship service. The VIOLIN 3 part is the same as the VIOLA part in case a VIOLA player is not available. VIOLIN 1 and VIOLIN 2 are the most challenging parts and most suited for advanced intermediate plays with notes extending up to the 3rd position. The melody alternates between the VIOLIN 1 and VIOLIN 2 parts. The VIOLA (VIOLIN 3) part is much easier with only quarter notes and all in the first position. The CELLO part is also easier than VIOLIN 1 & 2 and suitable for early intermediate players with all notes in the first position except for an F# on the C string which can be played by extending the 4th finger down. Raffaele Mirate's performance of the bravura aria at the opera's 1851 premiere was hailed as the highlight of the evening. Before the opera's first public performance (in Venice), the aria was rehearsed under tight secrecy: a necessary precaution, as La donna è mobile proved to be incredibly catchy, and soon after the aria's first public performance it became popular to sing among Venetian gondoliers.
