Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.741168 Composed by Edvard Grieg. Arranged by Anne Britt. Romantic Period,World. Score. 5 pages. Anne Britt #3421189. Published by Anne Britt (A0.741168). This famous classical piece was composed by Edvard Grieg as part of the play Peer Gynt, and is played as the title character, Peer Gynt, in a dream-like fantasy, enters the troll Mountain King’s hall to face a great crowd of troll courtiers, gnomes, and goblins. The Mountain King sits on his throne, with crown and sceptre, surrounded by his children and relatives. Peer Gynt stands before him. There is a tremendous uproar in the hall and these lyrics are heard:Slay him! The Christian man’s son has seducedthe fairest maid of the Mountain King!Slay him! Slay him!May I hack him on the fingers?May I tug him by the hair?Hu, hey, let me bite him in the haunches!Shall he be boiled into broth and bree to meShall he roast on a spit or be browned in a stewpan?Ice to your blood, friends! This arrangement for piano solo presents the theme of Grieg’s piece in a tango setting that is creative, fun, and much more accessible to the intermediate pianist. 5 pages. Percussion-Quintett - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q50078 A Homage to Deagan for percussion ensemble. Composed by Gavin Bryars. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, score and parts. Duration 20 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q50078. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q50078). One Last Bar Then Joe Can Sing (1994) was commissioned by the Arts Council of Great Britain for the percussion quintet Nexus, and is a reflection on aspects of percussion history, both personal and musical. The members of Nexus are my friends (I played in the Steve Reich Ensemble along with Russ Hartenberger in 1972, the year after Nexus was formed). The piece aimed to demonstrate how a fine percussion ensmeble can be as musically expressive and subtle as, say, a string quartet. The piece starts from the last bar at the end of the second act of my opera Medea, a very short coda for a quintet of untuned percussion instruments during which the curtain falls. In this piece, however, this one apparently innocuous measure is progressively fragmented until it is taken over, little by little, by the addition of tuned percussion instruments. Eventually two metallophones (crotales and songbells) play aria-like material with bows, occasionally joined by the xylophone, and accompanied by marimba and xylophone ostinati. The piece ends with a coda in which phrases are passed from bowed vibraphone to bowed crotales, then to bowed songbells, supported by tremolos on the marimbas. The rare 3-octave songbells that Nexus owns is one of the American instrument maker J. C. Deagan's particularly fine instruments. The piece is effectively a kind of homage to Deagan, the Stradivarius of the tuned percussion world, who collaborated closely with Percy Grainger in the development of tuned percussion music between the wars. The allusions in the title are obvious: the one last bar is the last measure of music from my opera; the song is that of Deagan's songbells. In the case of Joe I wanted to link my father, Joe Bryars (who was a good amateur baritone singer) with Joseph Deagan and his songbells. However, some time after I had written the piece, Nexus's Bob Becker took me to one side and told me (gently) that the initial J in Deagan's name, in fact, stood for JohnGavin BryarsPercussion 1: Crotales (with bow), Chocolo, Mark Tree; Percussion 2I: Song Bells (with bow), Chinese Cymbal, 3 Wood Blocks; Percussion 3: 2 Cymbals, 2 Triangles, Xylophone, Marimba (shared with Marimba II), Vibraphone (with bow); Percussion 4: 2 Cymbals, 2 Gongs, Marimba I (with low F), Maracas; Percussion 5: 2 low Tom-Toms, Marimba II (to low A).

Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970761 Composed by Mike Strand, ASCAP. Blues,Jazz. Score and parts. 6 pages. Michael M. Strand #6136125. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970761). Mike Strand, ASCAPThis is a lead sheet with lyrics, chords and guitar fret boards, for a jazz group, small, or large, with singer or solo instruments. It serves as a good basis for a variety of arrangements, contra facts, and improvisations. The audio sample is a jazz quintet: A slow swing jazz accompaniment from iReal Pro, combined with my duet tunes from Finale PrintMusic. In this sample, a flute takes the accompaniment (treble clef), with a baritone sax in the bass clef. The main tune (bass clef) is accompanied, making this an unusual duet lead sheet. For example, a flute may accompany a baritone singer. An option is to interchange the voice roles (e.g., main tune octave higher, accompaniment octave lower), or use one of the tunes of the duet by itself. I wrote this piece in honor of immigrants, in recognition of the courage it takes to move to a new country and learn a new language. New immigrants often go through difficulties and setbacks, including persecution from citizens of their adopted country. This, despite the recent immigrant ancestry of most of the persecutors, notably in the USA. In the subtitle of Immigrant Blues, I recognize my own immigrant ancestors, and also Anders LundegÃ¥rd, who, like my paternal grandparents, moved to the USA from Sweden. Anders helped me with this piece, with his reviews and comments. **Here are the lyrics for Immigrant Blues: 1. Moving to the U. S., far away. Life here is so bad, I will not stay. Talked to Mom and Dad, they said OK. I want to make a place for them some day. 2. First time in the States was no picnic. Half the time no work, and I got sick. Some folks try to help, while others scoff. I have friends, but others put me off. 3. Looking bright and able, that’s my plan. Taking ESOL classes when I can. Learning English is no easy chore, And I want my folks here, that’s for sure.   And I want my folks here, that’s for sure. Oh, yeah!

Accordion,Acoustic Guitar,Banjo,Double Bass,Fiddle,Soprano Recorder - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1193144 By Alan Wagstaff. By Brendan Gleeson. Arranged by Alan Wagstaff. Celtic,Folk,Irish,Traditional. 10 pages. Alan Wagstaff #792600. Published by Alan Wagstaff (A0.1193144). 'A Pint of Plain' is so often preformed in folk circles it has slipped into the the traditional category. The lyric, sometimes called ‘The Workman’s Friend’, was originally a poem by Brian O’Nolan.  A ‘pint of plain’ refers to a pint of Guiness - to distinguish it from other forms of stout - which are often stronger.  The words were put to music by Brendan and Fergus Gleeson.  Brendan Gleeson is an Irish actor and film director, best known for his performance as Alastor Moody in the Harry Potter films.PS If you have a favorite irish song you'd like to have arranged, let me know and I'll post it here.alanthewag@outlook.com.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.764315 Composed by Andrew Duncan. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 4 pages. Andrew Duncan #3222161. Published by Andrew Duncan (A0.764315). This setting of John Wigner's text (found in the Trinity Hymnal) uses a brand new tune with close contemporary choral texture and a graceful, pianistic accompaniment. Come to the Savior now, He gently calleth thee;In true repentance bow, before Him bend the knee;He waiteth to bestow salvation, peace and love,True joy on earth below, a home in heaven above.Come to the Savior now, ye who have wandered far;Renew your solemn vow, for His by right you are;Come, like poor wandering sheep returning to His fold; His arm will safely keep, His love will ne'er grow cold.Come to the Savior, all, whate'er your burdens be;Hear now His loving call, Cast all your care on me.Come, and for every grief in Jesus you will findA sure and safe relief, a loving Friend, and kind.Words by John M. Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1310999 By Elton John. By Bernie Taupin and Elton John. Arranged by Roy Rashbrook. 20th Century,A Cappella,Contest,Festival,Singer/Songwriter. 7 pages. Silverbright Music #899973. Published by Silverbright Music (A0.1310999). One More Arrow originally featured as the closing song of 1983's album Too Low For Zero. It's a perfect song to include in a programme on the subject of life and remembrance. Bernie Taupin's beautiful lyrics present an elegy for a departed friend or father figure who now lies in the soft brown earth that holds him, forever always young. The lyrics drew from Elton John one of his most gorgeous melodies and I have kept much of the harmony intact in this arrangement, although the second verse gets a bit more ambitious. In addition, the melody is shared out between the various vocal parts, meaning that the basses don't have to spend the entire performance going doo doo!Scored for Soprano solo, SATB á capella, this moderately difficult arrangement involves frequent splits in the Soprano and Bass parts, occasional splits in the alto and none at all in the tenor! In my arrangements, I like to go one step beyond simply presenting the original song for choir, so in the second verse there's the gentlest of subtle nods to Paul Simon's The Boxer at the mention of he could have been a boxer and the lyric knocked me down provides an opportunity for a choral cascade from top to bottom. And just before the final chorus, the choir's vocal lines represent the trajectory of an arrow, shooting up to a top F in the soprano solo part before descending into the new key of B flat major for the closing section. For medium to advanced chamber choirs.

Guitar - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4287 Composed by Francisco Braga. Arranged by Luciano Lima. Score. 13 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4287. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4287). ISBN 9782898522048.Antônio Francisco Braga (1868-1945) belongs to the generation of Brazilian composers of the first republican period, aesthetically tied to romanticism, alongside Henrique Oswald (1852-1931), Leopoldo Miguez (1850-1902), Glauco Velásquez (1884-1914), and Barrozo Neto (1881-1941). Born in Rio de Janeiro, on April 15th, 1868, he began his musical studies at the Asilo dos Meninos Desvalidos, in 1876. In 1883, he enrolled at the Imperial Conservatório de Música where he studied harmony and counterpoint with Carlos de Mesquita – a former student of César Franck, Durand, and Massenet – and clarinet with Antônio Luís de Moura. Braga's first compositions date from this period: Sonho de Dante (1885), Dolce far niente (1886), the first Valse Romantique for piano (1886), among others. In 1887, he premiered his first symphonic work, Fantasia-Abertura. In 1890, being one of the finalists in a competition to choose the new Brazilian national anthem, Braga was awarded a scholarship to study in Europe, where he took classes with Jules Massenet at the Paris Conservatory. During this period, he wrote some of his most important symphonic works, Paysage, Cauchemar, Episódio Sinfônico, and Marabá (which was performed by Richard Strauss and the Vienna Philharmonic in 1920, in Brazil). His opera Jupyra is considered one of the greatest Brazilian compositions of that genre.Back in Brazil, he was appointed professor of counterpoint, fugue, and composition at the Instituto Nacional de Música, in 1902. There, some of the finest Brazilian composers studied with him, like Glauco Velásquez and Lorenzo Fernândez.Braga wrote operas, symphonic works, songs, sacred music, two Masses, music for piano, different chamber formations, band, and choir. He is the author of many patriotic hymns, the most popular of which is Hino à Bandeira (with lyrics by Olavo Bilac). He explored Brazilian nationalist elements in some of his works, as in Variações sobre um Tema Brasileiro and in the Trio for violin, cello and piano, whose third movement is based on a lundu (a musical genre and dance of Afro-Brazilian origin). In addition to being a composer, Braga was one of the most active conductors of his time, having been ahead of three orchestras in Rio de Janeiro: Instituto Nacional de Música, Sociedade de Concertos Sinfônicos, and Theatro Municipal. Braga conducted the Brazilian premiere of major symphonic works such as La Mer (Debussy), Pacific 231 (Honegger) besides other numerous Brazilian compositions. In 1938, he retired from Instituto Nacional de Música. He passed away on March 14th, 1945, in Rio de Janeiro.Unfortunately, Francisco Braga never wrote for the guitar. However, over a century ago his music had already been incorporated to its repertoire. According to information found in newspapers of the time, Spanish guitarist Josefina Robledo included transcriptions of pieces by Braga in her programs when she performed in Brazil: Gavota e Minuete (from the melodrama Contratador de Diamantes), in 1919, in São Paulo, and the waltz-caprice Corrupio, in 1921, in Rio de Janeiro. The piano score of Madrigal Pavane was dedicated to Alexina Leitão and published by Casa Vieira Machado, in 1901. According to the composer’s catalogue, there are two other versions of this piece: strings orchestra (1901) and quartet (which is still in manuscript). Dedicated to Braga’s childhood friend José de Souza Rocha, Timburibá (the name of a Brazilian tree) is a tango for piano from 1886, published by Narciso & Arthur Napoleão.
