String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813844 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Concert,Contemporary,Folk,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 31 pages. Regis Bookshar #6537751. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813844). Largo (from Symphony No. 9 in E minor) (From the New World) (Db) (String Orchestra) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Largo, based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services, especially Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (23 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 (subtitled From the New World and popularly know as the New World Symphony), was composed by Antonin Dvorak in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 16, 1893 and has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. The second movement of the symphony, upon which this arrangement is based, is marked Largo, and begins with a harmonic progression of chords which is then followed by a solo instrument playing the famous main theme.Dvorak was interested in Native American music and the African-American spirituals he heard in North America. While director of the National Conservatory he encountered an African-American student, Harry T. Burleigh, who sang traditional spirituals to him. Burleigh, later a composer himself, said that Dvorak had absorbed their spirit before writing his own melodies. Dvorak stated:    I am convinced that the future music of this country must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. These can be the foundation of a serious and original school of composition to be developed in the United States. These beautiful and varied themes are the product of the soil. They are folk songs of America and your composers must turn to them.He further explained how Native American music influenced his symphony:  I have not actually used any of these (Native American) melodies. I have simply written original themes embodying the peculiarities of the Indian music, and, using these themes as subjects, have developed them with all the resources of modern rhythms, counterpoint, and orchestral colour. In 1893, a newspaper interview quoted Dvorak as saying, I found that the music of the negroes and of the Indians was practically identical, and that the music of the two races bore a remarkable similarity to the music of Scotland. Most historians agree that Dvorak is referring to the pentatonic scale, which is typical of each of these musical traditions.Dvorak was influenced not only by music he heard, but also by what he had seen, in America. He wrote that he would not have composed his American pieces as he had if he had not seen America. It has been said that Dvorak was inspired by the wide open spaces of America, such as the prairies he may have seen on his trip to Iowa in the summer of 1893. Notices about several performances of the symphony include the phrase wide open spaces about what inspired the symphony and/or about the feelings it conveys to listeners. The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual Goin' Home (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvorak's pupil, William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922. Regis Bookshar thought it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, he has created this version for a String Orchestra. Parts included with the purchase are a 1st Violin, a 2nd Violin, a 3rd Violin, a 1st Viola, a 2nd Viola, a 1st Violon.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.787231 Composed by Greg Bartholomew. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. 18 pages. Burke & Bagley #45587. Published by Burke & Bagley (A0.787231). The Second Suite from Razumov derives from the second act of Razumov, Greg Bartholomew’s chamber opera based on the novel Under Western Eyes by Joseph Conrad. The opera tells the story of a young Russian, Razumov, who is caught up in the consequences when a fellow university student, Victor Haldin, assassinates a government minister. Themes for Part 1 are taken from the opening scene of Act Two, in which Haldin’s mother, in exile in Geneva and worried by the lack of news from her son, learns that Victor was the assassin and has now been caught and executed. Part 2 is an instrumental interlude. Part 3 is based on the scene in which Razumov is urged to visit Mrs. Haldin, an encounter Razumov dreads because it was he who informed on Haldin to the government. The final Part corresponds to the scene in which Razumov learns that news received from Russia has released him from suspicion for Haldin’s death by placing responsibility on an innocent man.  The Suite was commissioned by a consortium of ensembles led by the Aeolian Winds of Pittsburgh, who presented the world premiere performance on November 9, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Pittsburgh. This piece is the penultimate number in the collection: Five Longer Piano Pieces. Duration: 5 minutes. Difficulty: Intermediate (Grade 3)Appropriate for schools and students. ‘Charles McCreerys beautifully melodic, intricately textured compositions are infused with classical, romantic and folk idioms.’ - Samantha Gillogly, violinist   Charles McCreery was educated at Eton and New College, Oxford. While at Eton he won the Rowe Cup for junior pianists, and in his final year performed Weber's Konzertstück with a chamber orchestra. As an undergraduate he studied piano with Hilda Bor, and won a piano class, adjudicated by Herbert Howells, at the Willesden Music Festival. From 1988 to 1991 he held a Perrott Warrick Studentship from Trinity College, Cambridge, and he has a doctorate from Oxford University. In 1996 Charles McCreery's 'Elegy for Violin and Piano' was shortlisted for the Match Composition Prize.   A comment on Charles McCreery’s collection of Tolkien songs: ‘For those who only know Tolkien via the recent blood-and-thunder films, this song-cycle by Charles McCreery will give a very different angle on the classic saga. Here we find a gentle and ethereal world, where rhythms lilt and words echo. The twelve songs, suitable for choir, evoke a dreamy, water-colour landscape with no harsh sounds, the tunes are singable and in a traditional style that Tolkien would surely have approved.’ - Dr Julia Gasper, LGSM A bound and illustrated vocal score (voice parts with piano accompaniment) of the complete set of his ‘Fourteen Tolkien Songs for Childrens Voices’ is available from Amazon:http://www.amazon.com/Fourteen-Tolkien-Songs-Childrens-Voices/dp/1492187534 A CD of twelve of Charles McCreery’s orchestral pieces can also be purchased from Amazon:http://www.amazon.com/Music-King-Eldred-opera-children/dp/B00LWEEMHA/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&...... Lever Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1390693 Composed by Benjamin Wynn and Jeremy Zuckerman. Arranged by Rachael Acheson. 21st Century,Broadway,Children,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Video Game. Score. 5 pages. TheHarpLibrarian #974247. Published by TheHarpLibrarian (A0.1390693). This is my slightly more complex arrangement of Leaves from the Vine from the beloved animated series Avatar: the Last Airbender, as well as the more recent Netflix live-action adaptation by the same name. It is appropriate for intermediate harpists working with an instrument as small as 26 strings, ranging from the C below middle C to the third G above Middle C (though it can obviously also be played on a larger harp, as well). It is written in the key of B-flat Major with no accidentals or lever changes. As such, it could work on an instrument model without levers, so long as the instrument is tuned with Bs and Es flat. My own instrument is a Harpsicle Fullsicle Harp. But I believe it could also work, with one or two very minor modifications, on a Harp-E, some of the Roosebeck Pakistani harp models (though check your range to be sure), Dusty Strings Ravenna 26, or Musicmakers Sonnet 29.The intro, outro, and transitions of the song weave in a medley of other themes from Avatar: The Last Airbender, including excerpts from The Avatar's Love, Four Seasons, and the main title theme. The core of the arrangement, however, centers around on variations of Leaves from the Vine.I also have a simplified, beginner-appropriate arrangement of this piece published seperately. That simplified version is NOT included in the purchase of this document and will need to be purchased from its own link. Please note that the preview cuts off after the first half-page of score. When you download your purchase, you will recieve a pdf that contains both the preview and the full score.

The mixolydian mode and sparkling sevenths add to the beauty.St Nectan's Waterfall - Delicate and brooding, feel the movement from the chordal harmony. A great piece for tone practise and control.St Clement's Isle - Constantly shifting changing and turning, dark and turbulent, then light and full of tranquility and life.Tales from the Cornish Coast is also available in printed/posted traditional book format (with audio code included to download your tracks) and is also available in Bb clarinet edition and Alto saxophone edition.
