Brass Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.870414 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by Randy A. Steinberg. Baroque. Score and parts. 82 pages. Randy A. Steinberg #2039181. Published by Randy A. Steinberg (A0.870414). Giovanni Gabrieli was no mere composer. He was an event. The figure at the nexus of many things all coming together in one grand tide. The greatest church in the greatest city of Europe. Freedom of intellectual thought. A Venetian School of composers at the forefront of musical innovation. The printing press and musical publishing. A Doge (Chief Magistrate or Duke) willing to spend, and spend big, on musical pomp and ceremony. A dearth of wealth and money to fund the grandest celebrations. He was the leading Italian composer and organist in Venice at its greatest heights at the chasm between the end of the Renaissance and the beginning of the Baroque period in music. Presented here is a wonderful Canzona published around 1615 for 3 brass choirs each with trumpets, trombones and tubas. Substitute parts are also included to handle the trombone parts with French horns. Each choir starts out with a pleasing harmonic chorale-like melody which then devolves into antiphonal and echo effects that Gabrieli is best known for. An impressive work for almost any church setting.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792809 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by Fabrizio Bugani. Baroque,Classical,Renaissance. Score and parts. 57 pages. Gordon Cherry #6623467. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792809). Canzon in Echo Duodecimi Toni á 10 was published as part of Gabrieli's Sacre Symphoniae of 1597, a collection of pieces including motets, canzonas, and sonatas for various instrumental groups. Gabrieli used the layout of his musical home, the San Marco Church in Venice with its two choir lofts facing each other, to create the first spatial or antiphonal music for early brass instruments, cornetti, and sackbuts.Maestro Fabrizio Bugani has done a wonderful job of editing this almost 4-minute work for a double brass choir of 10 instruments (two brass quintets). Included are numerous substitute parts which include Trumpets in C, Horns, and Alto Trombones. If one wishes a pure cylindrical choir; that can be achieved by using the Alto Trombones in place of the conical Horns. This edition is appropriate for moderately advanced performers and is pitched in the key of B-flat, down a step from the original.Instrumentation is for double brass quintets of 4 B-flat Trumpets, 2 Horns and 4 Trombones.

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1156911 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by Yves Bouillot. Religious,Renaissance. 25 pages. Yves Bouillot #757255. Published by Yves Bouillot (A0.1156911). Gabrieli's version constantly and classically balances two contrasting vocal choirs while maintaining its elegant proportions. Gabrieli divides his text into three unequal parts; each receives a musical section of roughly equal length. The opening phrase is sung three times: once by the first choir, once by the slightly lower second choir, and a third time in full climactic polyphony. The second phrase of the text takes up the same tripartite structure, with a temporal enlargement in triple rhythmic groups. The composer packs the most text into the third section. The radiant conclusion of his motet comes in a fourth section, a long, jubilant “hallelujahâ€. A series of three-meter syncopated antiphonal statements gradually give way to a broad eight-voice tutti. Whether the two choirs braved the logistical challenges of physical separation or simply sang in close alternation, the effect added great sparkle to the Venetian liturgy.
