An arrangement for saxophone quartet (soprano or alto, alto, tenor, baritone) of the Ricercar del primo tuono generally attributed to Italian composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (c.1525-1594). The piece is in the style typical of the late Renaissance with its use of canon and musical imitation techniques. The set comprises full score and parts, including an additional part for a second alto saxophone as an alternative to soprano saxophone. Difficulty level : Intermediate.

In My Life is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1965 album Rubber Soul. It was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, who later disagreed over the extent of their respective contributions to the song. Lennon credited the harmony and bridge to McCartney, while McCartney claimed the entire musical structure. George Martin contributed the piano solo bridge, which was sped up to sound like a harpsichord.

According to Lennon, In My Life was his first real major piece of work because it was the first time he penned personal lyrics about his own life. The original version of the lyrics was based on a bus route he used to take in Liverpool, naming various sites seen along the way, including Penny Lane and Strawberry Field. Lennon discarded this lyrical idea in favour of a more generalized meditation on his past. He and McCartney later revisited those original references with their respective songs Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane.

This work uses wordless-vocalize (singing on Ah, Oh or with the mouth closed, ad libitum). The vocal part is generally quite free, allowing the singer to express herself freely. The orchestration is for tymp/perc/vibra/hp/cel/harps/strings(minimum : 44222) Like a supple vine, the voice seems to unfold across the orchestra, with the warm expressive themes and shining strings, with the support of the harpsichord, the vibraphone and other percussion. Certainly, there is a coloristic note in the orchestral palette, but also a wish to combine the colors of the voice and the orchestra in different manners. Through this osmosis and through the tempo rubato suggested several times, by the absence of metronomic movements, the composer has tried to create music which breathes through freedom, suppleness and poetry, in the infinite spirals of beauty and love, outside of space and time.. The orchestral version of the work was recorded in 2014 with Isaure Equilez, mezzo-soprano and the National Polish Radio Orchestra under the direction of Paul Wehage The orchestral parts are available from the publisher on rental.

J. S. Bach completed the 24 preludes and fugues that make up the first book of the Well-Tempered Clavier in 1722 in Cöthen, where much of his other important instrumentalchamber music was written. The twenty-four segments go through all of the major and minor keys, with an prelude which explores a single texture or figuration and a contrasting fugue in either 2, 3, 4 or 5 voices. In this arrangement, the different voices are either shared by the four instruments or, in the case of the five voices of the Fugue in Bb minor, implied through arpeggios in the alto and tenor voices. Care must be taken to make these implied chords
sound through discretely sustaining these voices through resonance.

The preludes are generally in relatively free improvisatory forms which explore different types of baroque devises, including italianate keyboard figuration, “arioso� ornamented melodies with ostinato accompaniments, and more abstract forms. Two of the preludes are especially notable: the stately harmonic progression of the First prelude in C major, one of Bach’s most well-known works, and the gigantic prelude and double fugue of the Eb Major prelude.

The fugues represent an exploration of all styles, ranging from the Ricacare in the Fugue no. 4 in c# minor and the use of augmentation, canon and inversion in no. 8 in Eb minor.
