This deeply moving hymn is arranged as an instrumental trio (for two VIOLINS with PIANO accompaniment). Verse 1 and 3 are the same with VIOLIN 1 playing the melody. Verse 2 is slower and quieter with the two VIOLINS alternating leading with the melody. The piano provides a flowing, delicate accompaniment throughout.
After a faith-building experience when Georg Neumark claimed the promise found in Psalm 55:22, he wrote the lyrics to this song:

The range for each part is as follows: VIOLIN 1 – F#4 to B5; VIOLIN 2 – F#4 to G5.
