The song was introduced by Fred Astaire in the 1937 film A Damsel in Distress. It was originally titled A Foggy Day (In London Town) in reference to the pollution-induced pea soup fogs that were common in London during that period, and is often still referred to by the full title.

In addition to obvious references to the flag, it incorporates snippets of other popular songs, including one of his own. Cohan wrote it in 1906 for his stage musical George Washington, Jr. You're a Grand Old Flag quickly became the first song from a musical to sell over a million copies of sheet music. The original lyric for this perennial George M. Cohan favorite came, as Cohan later explained, from an encounter he had with a Civil War veteran who fought at Gettysburg. The two men found themselves next to each other and Cohan noticed the vet held a carefully folded but ragged old flag. The man reportedly then turned to Cohan and said, She's a grand old rag. Cohan thought it was a great line and originally named his tune You're a Grand Old Rag. So many groups and individuals objected to calling the flag a rag, however, that he gave 'em what they wanted and switched words, renaming the song You're a Grand Old Flag.

Cohan that was popular with the United States military and public during both world wars. It is a patriotic song designed to galvanize American young men to enlist and fight the Hun. The song is best remembered for a line in its chorus: The Yanks are coming. Cohan wrote it after he had learned that the US had abandoned their policy of non-interventionism and planned to enter World War I on the side of the Allied Powers. It has been revived on various occasions during and after World War II. It was not heavily used during the Vietnam War but has been used since the September 11 terrorist attacks.

C Instrument - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1155985 By The Beatles. By George Harrison. Arranged by Leo Silva. Rock. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 2 pages. MP Sheet Music #756296. Published by MP Sheet Music (A0.1155985). Something is a song recorded by British rock band The Beatles. It was released by Apple Records as a single from the Abbey Road album in October 1969. Written by vocalist and guitarist George Harrison, it was the first composition by the member to be released as a single by the band and, along with his other contribution to the album, Here Comes the Sun, is seen by music historians as the beginning of Harrison's rise as a songwriter to the level of Paul McCartney and John Lennon, who exerted great influence on the group's repertoire. Two weeks after the album's release, the song was released as a double A-side single, along with Come Together, making it Harrison's first composition to be released as an A-side. It was the first time in the UK that the band had released a single containing tracks already available on an album. Although its commercial performance was affected by this, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, as well as the charts in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and West Germany, in addition to reaching number 4 in the United Kingdom.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year is a popular Christmas song written in 1963 by Edward Pola and George Wyle. It was recorded and released that year by pop singer Andy Williams for his first Christmas album, The Andy Williams Christmas Album. The song is a celebration and description of activities associated with the Christmas season, focusing primarily on get-togethers between friends and families. Among the activities included in the song is the telling of scary ghost stories, a Victorian Christmas tradition that has mostly fallen into disuse, but survives in the seasonal popularity of numerous adaptations of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
