String Ensemble Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1386270 Composed by Georg Schwenk and Georges (Dp) Bizet. Arranged by The Fluffy Hat Music Co. Classical. 49 pages. The Fluffy Hat Music Co. #970191. Published by The Fluffy Hat Music Co. (A0.1386270). Carmen Fantasie is a virtuoso showpiece for violin and orchestra. The piece is part of Franz Waxman's score to the 1946 movie Humoresque for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture. The music, based on various themes from Georges Bizet's opera Carmen, was initially meant to be played by Jascha Heifetz. However, he was replaced by a young Isaac Stern for the film's recording of the score. Stern's hands can be seen in the close-up shots from the movie. After seeing the film, Heifetz asked Waxman to expand the work because he wanted to play it on the radio program, The Bell Telephone Hour, where it premiered on 9 September 1946. The work has been played since by many virtuoso violinists in concerts. This adaption, by The Fluffy Hat Music Co. is for Solo Violin and string ensemble (2 1st Violins, 2 2nd violins, 2 Viola and 2 Cellos).

Christmas,Holiday,Praise & Worship,Romantic Period,Sacred. Score and parts. 2 pages. Chicory Music #2926727. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734332). March of the Three Kings for Mixed (Soprano & Alto) Saxophone Duet at the Intermediate level. The Crusades, those religious expeditions to rescue the holy places in Palestine from the Muslims, created an enormous interest in both faith and fighting in the Middle Ages. French peasants from Provence in the 13th century, when the tune for this March of the Kings was being sung and danced to, must have endowed the Three Kings of the Christmas story with all the virtues and appearance of their own folk heroes nearer at hand. These were the French dukes, clad in gleaming armor, carrying brilliant banners and bejeweled shields, who fought for the Pope far more willingly than they would have for the lives of their own serfs. Hence the martial references in this text, sung to a tune that is perhaps even older than the verses. Georges Bizet, composer of the opera Carmen, used the same tune as a farandole, or stately dance, in his incidental music for Alphonse Daudet’s play L’Arlesienne (The Woman from Aries). The March of the Three Kings has been arranged in the sax friendly key of g minor at the intermediate level. Performance time: approx. 2 minutes.

Violin and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53349 Composed by Georges Bizet. Edited by Wolfgang Birtel. Arranged by G. Reinhardt. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. 8 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53349. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53349). English • German. In days when there was no opportunity to get to know music better by repeated listening with a radio or CD, playing through it oneself after hearing a piece at a concert was the only option. This explains the proliferation of fantasias, paraphrase settings and arrangements of popular operatic melodies in the 19th Century: these were a regular feature of musical life, both in the concert hall and in households. The popularity of Carmen by French composer Georges Bizet, which stood at the top of the list of most popular works, is entirely understandable: the catchy and exotic character of the music was captivating. Reinhardt undertook a series of operatic adaptations for Schott publishers including this March from Carmen, which brings together a few of those rousing melodies in a little medley. Plate no. 02523, published in about 1913.
