Originally from Bizet's French opera Carmen, the Toréador's Song is given a 1940s big band swing treatment. This work was inspired by the arranging style of Jerry Gray and his work on classic themes such as Anvil Chorus for the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Featuring a standard big band line-up with the 1st Alto Sax requiring a clarinet double, there is solo space for the Clarinet, 2nd Trumpet, 1st Tenor Saxophone, and Drums. Brass are mostly written in comfortable ranges  (1st Trumpet requiring a C#6 and 1st Trombone an A4) and cup, straight, and plunger mutes are used extensively throughout the chart. www.bemus.com.au.
