Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.575305 Composed by Giovanni Croce. Arranged by David Musgrove. Classical,Renaissance. Score and parts. 8 pages. David Musgrove #182964. Published by David Musgrove (A0.575305). Italian composer Giovanni Croce (1557-1609) was mostly prominent as a madrigalist, and a highly respected composer of his time. He produced less music in the choral style of the Gabrielis, which is perhaps why his music is less well known than theirs today. Generally lighter and clearer in texture than Giovanni Gabrieli, of whom he was an exact contemporary, his music nevertheless has much to offer audiences. 'Beati eritis' is a setting of two verses from St Matthew's account of Jesus's Sermon on the Mount, or Beatitudes. ' Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.' It sits very well on trombones, and will particularly suit a resonant acoustic. Item number: DM 2642 MP3 sound file is produced from Sibelius.

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.870397 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by Randy A. Steinberg. Baroque. Score and parts. 31 pages. Randy A. Steinberg #1988451. Published by Randy A. Steinberg (A0.870397). Giovanni Gabrieli was no mere composer. He was an event. The figure at the nexus of many things all coming together in one grand tide. The greatest church in the greatest city of Europe. Freedom of intellectual thought. A Venetian School of composers at the forefront of musical innovation. The printing press and musical publishing. A Doge (Chief Magistrate or Duke) willing to spend, and spend big, on musical pomp and ceremony. A dearth of wealth and money to fund the grandest celebrations. He was the leading Italian composer and organist in Venice at its greatest heights at the chasm between the end of the Renaissance and the beginning of the Baroque period in music. Presented here is a Canzona published around 1615 for 6 brass. A variety of substitute parts are also included to handle the trombone parts with French horns and tubas. A great work that draws from Gabrieli’s many styles. The piece starts with a song like tune that is repeated throughout. Each variation is separated by a 3/4 dance-like chanson repeated throughout. The final cadence is classic Gabrieli with its grand finale. A Gabrieli instrumental ensemble work that provides listeners with a variety of common Gabrieli touches all in one piece without requiring a lot of musical forces.
