Aren’t You Kind of Glad We Did? is an unused George Gershwin song recycled posthumously by brother Ira for the 1947 film The Shocking Miss Pilgrim (Dick Haymes and Betty Grable) – a story about the Women’s Suffrage movement of 1874, and equality in the workplace.  The film was a disappointment. This song didn’t get radio airplay (as recorded by Dick Haymes and Judy Garland) because censors inferred it had a too suggestive meaning.    This ‘trunk tune,’ however, found its way into the Great American Songbook.
