Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1104974 By David L Turkheimer. By Johann Sebastian Bach and Robert Schumann. Arranged by David L Turkheimer. Baroque. Individual part. 2 pages. David L Turkheimer #708216. Published by David L Turkheimer (A0.1104974). The original 3rd suite for cello by Bach is a masterpiece of writing for a melodic instrument. While fun to play on guitar, its plucked single notes do not take advantage of the harmonic depth which the guitar can deliver. Robert Schumann wrote a piano accompaniment for this suite that provides harmony. This arrangement mines this to show what the guitar can bring. The music has been transposed to A; standard tuning. The other movements are also available.

Published by Amadeus Music (A0.872140). D major suits the guitar best for this piece. The capo is necessary to make this piece work with the flute. The result is very sweet!Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921), french composer. Le Carnaval was composed in February 1886 while Saint-Saëns was vacationing in a small Austrian village. The Swan by far the most famous movement of the suite, often performed sole and is used to showcase the interpretive skills of the cellist. The lushly romantic cello solo is played over rippling sixteenths in one piano and rolled chords in the other.

Published by Jeremiah Lawson (A0.1452092). Thomas Commuck (1804 to 1855) was a member of the Narragansett tribe and is considered the first NativeAmerican to publish a musical work using Western European notation. The work, Indian Melodies, is a shape?notehymnal published as a contribution to the hymnody of the Methodist Episcopal Church and was published in 1845.Guitar Sonata on themes by Thomas Commuck is a traditional four?movement work with an opening sonatamovement (Mooanam); a double variation form (Menominie and Susquehannah); a canonic minuet with trio (Pequot and Missouri; and a closing prelude with fugue (Flathead). The melodies are labeled as they appear throughout the score, though not always with reference to their original forms. I made a few gentle modifications to Commuck’s melodies to better facilitate their use in polyphonic textures. You can hear the second movement herehttps://youtu.be/OR8NMAyXlRkand the third movement herehttps://youtu.be/OjF7SxlQok0I'm publishing this work in June 2024 to commemorate the centennial of the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924.
