Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1271201

By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Pop,Standards,Wedding. 9 pages. RayThompsonMusic #863596. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1271201).

Arranged standard wind quintet

Yesterday is a song by English rock band the Beatles written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon–McCartney) first released on the album Help! in the United Kingdom in August 1965.

Yesterday, with the B-side Act Naturally, was released as a single in the United States in September 1965. While it topped the American chart in October the song also hit the British top 10 in a cover version by Matt Monro.

The song also appeared on the UK EP Yesterday in March 1966 and the Beatles' US album Yesterday and Today released in June 1966.

McCartney's vocal and acoustic guitar, together with a string quartet, essentially made for the first solo performance of the band. It remains popular today with more than 2,200 cover versions and is one of the most covered songs in the history of recorded music.

My arrangement differs from others you may find.
Rather than giving the tune to one player, I have given it in turn to oboe, horn, flute and tutti.
The flute enters after the 1st verse.
The accompaning parts are not simply block chords, but are varied and full of interest to each player.

The chorus section is treat as a chorale, with all the players playing.

This is the wind quintet version you need!

Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Holiday,Romantic Period,Standards. 29 pages. Jmsgu3 #4597213. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.550171).

Pavane * павана * パヴァーム* Παβάνε * פ×ב×× ×” * Gabriel Fauré, Op. 50. Duration ca. 5:10

Gabriel Fauré's Pavane Op. 50 is a short work originally composed for piano in 1887 but is better known in Fauré's version for orchestra and chorus. The piece is a pavane, a slow processional court dance that took hold in Spain in the 16th and 17th centuries and which the aristocracy used as a showcase for fancy ball gowns and ceremonial feasts. The piece's stately pace, which lends the melody its halting grace, has much to do with its frequently cited calming effect. Although Fauré described the report as carefully crafted but not otherwise important, it has become one of his most famous and commonly performed works. The Pavane is a typically frank and straightforward piece of music by Fauré, and it is around seven minutes long. The restrained use of harmony creates a delightful air of subtlety and simplicity. The piece has been reused by other composers, such as Ravel's Pavane pour une infante défunte. The Pavane Op. 50 speaks directly to the heart in its calm and collected manner.

Fauré's Pavane has been used in popular culture in various ways. The piece's melody is well-known worldwide for its frequent use in films, advertising, and sporting events like the 1998 FIFA World Cup, which the BBC covered using the Pavane. The piece has also been used in popular music, with pop artists like Eric Clapton and Jon Lord using Pavan-inspired themes in songs and instrumental compositions. The Pavane Op. 50 has been featured in several films, including The Conformist (1970), The Great Beauty (2013), and The King's Speech (2010). The piece has also been used in television shows like The Crown (2016). The Pavane Op. 50 has been arranged for various instruments, including guitar, harp, and cello. The piece's haunting musical qualities that percolate directly from the orchestra through the chorus in a straight line of solemnity and reverence have made it a standard part of the concert repertoire.

'A Pint of Plain' is so often preformed in folk circles it has slipped into the the traditional category. The lyric, sometimes called ‘The Workman’s Friend’, was originally a poem by Brian O’Nolan.  A ‘pint of plain’ refers to a pint of Guiness - to distinguish it from other forms of stout - which are often stronger.  The words were put to music by Brendan and Fergus Gleeson.  Brendan Gleeson is an Irish actor and film director, best known for his performance as Alastor Moody in the Harry Potter films.

Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Concert,Instructional,World. Score and parts. 7 pages. Regis Bookshar #6635873. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813974).

Trombone Quintet - Intermediate - Digital Download. This arrangement of Silent Night, or in German, Stille Nacht, would be a wonderful addition to any music library and could be performed for Christmas concerts, recitals, and, especially, church services. It is equally suitable for junior and senior high school students and even older musicians. Depending on their ability, younger musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (7 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.

Silent Night is probably the most popular Christmas carol ever written. It was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr and was first performed on Christmas Eve at St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a small village in present-day Austria. A young Catholic priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had written the poem, Stille Nacht, in 1816 and had gone to Oberndorf in 1817. The melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf. On Christmas Eve, 1818, Mohr brought the words to Gruber and asked him to compose a melody and guitar accompaniment for that night's mass, after river flooding had possibly damaged the church organ. The church was eventually destroyed by repeated flooding and has since been replaced with the Silent-Night-Chapel.

According to Gruber, Karl Mauracher, an organ builder who serviced the instrument at the Oberndorf church, was enamored with the song, and took the composition home with him to the Ziller Valley in Tyrol, Austria. From there, two traveling families of folk singers, the Strassers and the Rainers, included the tune in their shows. The Rainers were already singing it around Christmas, 1819, and once performed it for an audience that included Franz I of Austria and Alexander I of Russia. They also gave the first performance of the song in the United States in New York City in 1839. By the 1840's, the song was well known and was reported to be a favorite of Frederick William IV of Prussia. During this period, the melody changed slightly to become the version that is commonly heard today. The version of the melody that is generally used today is a slow, meditative lullaby, or pastoral, differing slightly from Gruber's original which has a moderate tempo. The song has been translated into about 140 languages and has been recorded by many singers across many music genres. The version sung by Bing Crosby in 1935, has sold over 10 million copies as a single.

In this arrangement of Silent Night, Regis Bookshar has kept the basic form of this familiar Christmas carol, but has also included a descant during the third verse. Also, in addition to this version for a Trombone Quintet, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.

I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Silent Night will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Composed by Connie Boss. Easter,Sacred. Score and parts. 4 pages. Connie Boss #4285309. Published by Connie Boss (A0.801045).

A song for Good Friday. I have one out there in treble clef. This one is in bass clef for men to sing it. It has piano accompaniment and guitar chords as well as written in duet. The ending is unique (my mp3 doesn't show it because I couldn't get it to play it right) but after Pound # 11 I'm no longer breathin', it ends in complete silence at that point.

The attached video is in SA and cello.
