For Flute Quartet or Flute Choir Hells BellsProgram Notes Hells Bells, written by Angus Young, Brian Johnson, and Malcolm Young, is the first track of Back in Black,the seventh studio album by Australian hard rockband AC/DC and their comeback album after the death of lead singer Bon Scott. Hells Bells is the second single from Back in Black, released on 31 October 1980. The song begins with a bell slowly tolling four times, after which Angus Young starts playing the song’s main riff. Malcolm Young then joins in, followed by Phil Rudd on drums and Cliff Williams on bass. The bell tolls a total of 13 times during the song’s introduction. On a more personal note, I was asked to arrange this song by my daughter and son-in-law to use as the processional for their wedding.  Really… I couldn’t make this up.  It is scored for Flute Quartet:  2 flutes, alto flute (c-part included), and bass flute. The chords are not accompanying the melody, there is a meaning behind those chords Va. Find which one is the ‘real melody’ and there is a hidden code behind it. Vb. hint: dance style VI. Hint: another dance style VII. This chord sounds in a place where it is not real VIII. Minor form of I-IV, but what does it mean? IX. (In the piano part) Again, chords are not accompanying the melody, there is a code behind it (you may try the chord progression) X. Basically same with IX, but more agitated XI. Please do not associate these riddles to my other compositions XII. The riddle (bracketed in red) is only useful in the 1st movement. This piece was written when I was just graduated to secondary school, I was so nervous because of the brand new environment but also curious about everything, I joined the school orchestra and there was a concert for 170th school anniversary, I would never forget that concert in my life, it was the most extensive concert that I have attended (people were buying tickets to watch our performance) I was extremely nervous, but I was very happy in the percussion section. During rehearsal, I heard the amazing cello sound, that is a sound that I adored, it was the most amazing sound that I have ever heard, I was totally obsessed with the instrument, and I listen to cello concerto every day. Haydn, Dvorak, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Schumann. I was totally obsessed with the instrument! Then I thought, why don’t I write a cello concerto by myself? That’s why I composed this piece.
