Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.741218 Composed by George Coles. Arranged by Anne Britt. Christian,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Anne Britt #5030273. Published by Anne Britt (A0.741218). The text to this hymn originated as a poem by James Montgomery, titled, The Stranger and His Friend. It was later set to music by George Coles, a New York City preacher, and adopted as a hymn by Christian congregations in the United States and the United Kingdom. John Taylor learned the hymn while serving a mission in England in 1840 and introduced it into the LDS church. It was a favorite hymn of the prophet Joseph Smith, who requested that John Taylor sing it to him in the Carthage Jail before he was martyred. The version he sang was actually set to a different tune that John Taylor wrote himself. This piano solo arrangement is based on the original melody by George Coles and received Special Recognition in the 2020 Church Music Submission. 5 pages. Performance time: approximately 4:10. This marvelous arrangement of the Largo, based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services, especially Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. It premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 16, 1893 and has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. The second movement of the symphony, upon which this arrangement is based, is marked Largo, and begins with a harmonic progression of chords which is then followed by a solo instrument playing the famous main theme.Dvorak was interested in Native American music and the African-American spirituals he heard in North America. While director of the National Conservatory he encountered an African-American student, Harry T. Burleigh, who sang traditional spirituals to him. Burleigh, later a composer himself, said that Dvorak had absorbed their spirit before writing his own melodies. Dvorak stated:    I am convinced that the future music of this country must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. Most historians agree that Dvorak is referring to the pentatonic scale, which is typical of each of these musical traditions.Dvorak was influenced not only by music he heard, but also by what he had seen, in America. He wrote that he would not have composed his American pieces as he had if he had not seen America. It has been said that Dvorak was inspired by the wide open spaces of America, such as the prairies he may have seen on his trip to Iowa in the summer of 1893. Notices about several performances of the symphony include the phrase wide open spaces about what inspired the symphony and/or about the feelings it conveys to listeners. The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual Goin' Home (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvorak's pupil, William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922. Bass Clarinet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549345 By Barry Manilow. By Bruce Johnston. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Contemporary,Rock. Score and part. 8 pages. Jmsgu3 #3486713. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549345). Duration: ca. 3:00, score: 5 pages, solo part: 1 page, piano part: 2 pages.Very famous song suitable for church, recital or nightclub. I Write the Songs is a popular song written by Bruce Johnston in 1975 and made famous by Barry Manilow. Manilow's version reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1976[2] after spending two weeks atop the Billboard adult contemporary chart in December 1975.[3] It won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year and was nominated for Record of the Year in 1977.[3] Billboard ranked it as the No. 13 song of 1976.[4]The original version was recorded by The Captain & Tennille, who worked with Johnston in the early 1970s with The Beach Boys. It appears on their 1975 album, Love Will Keep Us Together. The first release of I Write the Songs as a single was by then teen-idol David Cassidy from his 1975 solo album The Higher They Climb, which was also produced by Bruce Johnston. Cassidy's version reached #11 on the UK Singles Chart in August of that year.[5]Johnston has stated that, for him, the I in the song is God,[2] and that songs come from the spirit of creativity in all of us. He has said that the song is not about his Beach Boys bandmate Brian Wilson.[6]Manilow was initially reluctant to record the song, stating in his autobiography Sweet Life: The problem with the song was that if you didn't listen carefully to the lyric, you would think that the singer was singing about himself. It could be misinterpreted as a monumental ego trip.[3] After persuasion by Clive Davis, then president of Arista Records, Manilow recorded the song, and his version of I Write the Songs was the first single taken from the album Tryin' to Get the Feeling. It first charted on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 15, 1975, reaching the top of the chart nine weeks later, on January 17, 1976. Wikipedia

Large Ensemble B-Flat Clarinet,B-Flat Trumpet,Flute,Horn,Trombone,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.511073 Composed by Sean Michael O'Boyle and Terry Gilkyson. Arranged by Micaiah Bennett. Broadway,Children,Classical,Contemporary,Film/TV,Musical/Show. Score and parts. 39 pages. Micaiah Bennett #3052679. Published by Micaiah Bennett (A0.511073). This song was originally written by Terry Gilkyson, for Walt Disney's The Jungle Book. This was also Walt Disney's last movie he was alive to supervise. Terry was also commissioned by Disney to do the music for this movie, but the directors, producers, and Walt himself did not like the 'darkness' of the music, and took him off of The Jungle Book project and hired the Sherman brothers to redo the music for the movie. However, the directing crew liked this song, The Bare Necessities so much that they decided to keep this song as part of the movie. This song is a fun, bouncy song and on a level that will be playable by most, from high school level, to more advanced chamber groups. The majority of the songs original melody and phrasing has been retained, but a twist has been added to make it more enjoyable for both the players and the listeners of this arrangement.

Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q18832). English.Gavin Bryars has for many years shied away from writing for piano, indeed there are only a smattering of works in his catalogue for the instrument. So for him to embark upon his first piano concerto in his 60s was a major undertaking. The technical brilliance and inquisitive mind of the Dutch pianist Ralph van Raat however convinced Bryars that he should take the plunge and add his own addition to the genre. Jointly commissioned by the Borletti Buitoni Trust and Dutch Public Broadcaster NPS, the work focuses on the melodic line and sonorous qualities of the piano with the soloist embedding himself into the orchestral texture. Taking the lead from Busoni, Bryars also includes a male-voice choir in the work who sing settings of Scottish poet Edwin Morgan.
