Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.938913 Composed by Elissa Brill Pashkin. Concert,Contemporary. 23 pages. Elissa Brill Pashkin #73895. Published by Elissa Brill Pashkin (A0.938913). NOTE: This piano/vocal score is included as part of the full score package of this piece. It is not necessary to purchase it separately if you are buying the score and parts already. Halevi Songs is a 3-movement song cycle, composed in 2002. It is a setting of three poems (in English translation of the original Hebrew) of Judah Halevi, who was a Jewish scholar and poet who lived in Spain in the Middle Ages. The three movements are I. The Mirror, II. Do the Tears Know?, and III. Calm After the Storm. Each is just under three minutes. The total duration of the piece is between 8.5 and 9 minutes. The audio clip is from the third movement, in a performance of the sextet version of this piece. A complete recording is available upon request from the composer at ebrill@hcc.edu. The performers are Dianne Smith (soprano), Janet Polvino (flute), Isabelle Boggs (clarinet), Bob Ferrier (guitar), Craig Bitterman (percussion), and Joyce Crouch (piano). It may be performed with just piano accompaniment as well. Composer's Notes: The translation of the first poem, The Mirror, is by the 19th century American poet Emma Lazarus, most famous for her familiar words engraved on the Statue of Liberty: Give me your tired, your poorâ?¦ There has been some interesting academic discussion concerning this poem. It is generally attributed to Halevi, but some scholars now believe it may have been written by someone else. (I have also seen the translation attributed to someone else.) The second poem, Do the Tears Know? was originally a tombstone inscription for one of Haleviâ??s friends. This setting was written to honor my father, Harold Allan Brill, who passed away in January, 2000. The third poem, Calm After the Storm, is actually the second half of a longer poem about a sea voyage. The three songs are meant to be performed continuously, without a break in between. Licensed by BMI.

Kevin G. Pace #878991. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1287904). A wonderful, sacred choral arrangement for mixed choir.  Music by Kevin G. Pace.  Text by Kathryn W. Hales. I often wonder if I’d been there On the shores of Galilee, Would I have stopped and listened toA stranger I happened to see,A man called Jesus, from Nazareth,Whose words right from the startMight come to my ears as something sweet’Would I have had a believing heart?Chorus:A believing heart, a special giftOf faith that I might seeEternal truths from God above,That I might say and do and beA willing servant committed toThe Master’s work below;A believing heart, a willing mind,To Him I’d like to show.I often wonder if I’d been thereIn another time and place,Would I have listened to Alma’s words:Or with a multitude seen the faceAnd touched the feet of Jesus Christ,Of His people been a part? From pages of Book of MormonI learn of those with believing hearts.I often wonder if I’d been thereIn Ohio or Missouri,Would I have listened to Joseph Smith,Or a jeering scorner beBecause of tradition or fear of men,Would I have quickly turned apart?Or would I have stayed and heard his words?Would I have had a believing heart? And now I live in the latter daysGod’s message I have always knownThroughout my days of mortal life,Gospel truths from parents at home,Or from missionaries bold and strong,Yet I must still choose to testify.

Vocal Solo,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.701451 Composed by Kevin G. Pace, Kathryn W. Hales. Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. 2 pages. Kevin G. Pace #3124511. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.701451). A thought-provoking, original hymn. Text by Kathryn W. Hales below.YouTube video: https://youtu.be/tc-lFghc0YAPrison doors were opened For Peter and for Paul, And for the coat-clad Joseph, For Daniel, saved from a lion’s maul.   For Alma and for Amulek, Nephi and Lehi too; Why not countless others Locked away from freedom’s view?   Why not brave Abinadi? Or Joseph and Hyrum Smith? Why not Christians in catacombs, Or prisoners in Auschwitz?   Why was the prison door opened For Barabbas, a murderer at heart, While the innocent Christ was crucified, One in whom there was no fault?   Why not those entrapped today In prisons of mortal pain; Why are the doors opened for a few, While millions suffer long in vain?   Yet still the promise has been made, And believe in it we must__ That all prison doors will someday open If in God we trust.   Prison doors of pain and grief, Of tragedy and shame, Through the mercy of our Lord All shall be free again.
