For a novice in Afro-Cuban Music, this written solo would give you plenty of ideas to work with. You can either do the written solo or create one of your own. You must remember that Afro-Cuban Drumming is based heavily on syncopation so, soloing as if you were playing a drumset won't work here. The solo can be shared not only by the Timbales but also by the Congas and Bongo Player. The chart is rich with ostinato breaks of the percussion that tie the phrase of the melody with the song.
