Flute,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031107 Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. Arranged by F Matthews. Classical. Score and part. 3 pages. Atlas Nash #3663237. Published by Atlas Nash (A0.1031107). This is a lively arrangement of the Allegro theme taken from the 1st movement of Haydn's Symphony No. 104 - one of Haydn's London symphonies. The allegro is arranged here for flute and piano, but can easily be played on violin or other instruments suited to the range. The range of the flute part is from C-sharp5 (octave above middle C), to a high E (E6) - a range that would approximately suite a flautist at Grade 3 level - upper end of easy/beginner. The piano accompaniment has been arranged to be at the higher end of easy - with some more complex elements including octave and running quaver passages. Dynamics and articulation have been added in as a guide only. This download includes a score and separate flute part. The original work was written in 1795 while Haydn was living in London and was premiered to great acclaim. It remains a popular choice today for concerts around the world. This arrangement could work nicely alongside an arrangement of the second movement - or as part of a medley of short pieces in a concert. The expected duration of the piece is likely to be between 1.5 to 2 minutes long, though the arrangement can be played at a tempo suiting the individual performer. Some professional performances of this work would be more in the range of one minute only! I hope you enjoy this arrangement and I'd welcome any feedback by email to franmatt100@gmail.com.

Acoustic Guitar,Flute,Viola - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1317395 Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. Arranged by Nick Stokes. Chamber,Classical. 37 pages. Nick Stokes #906057. Published by Nick Stokes (A0.1317395). This arrangement is of a light 2 movement piano trio by Haydn. It goes for about 10 to 15 minutes (depending on if you do repeats). It has a number of delightful and catchy tunes and has plenty of energy in the presto movement.   It is for what I think is the best combination of instruments involving guitar in chamber music - flute , viola & guitar. the level of difficulty is probably in that order too , with the flute doing the lion’s share of the tunes, the viola doing a fair amount of double stops and some secondary tunes and the guitar not too hard but involving some grand barres and half barres and requires tuning the low string down to Eb.  This version has a many tone colours to explore and is very light in the bass which I find makes for a sparkling sound . All the players are busy and get to have solos, which is sometimes a complaint of cellists playing Haydn piano trios where the requirement at the time seemed to be to make the music work with or without the cello being there.   I hope other guitarists and amateur musicians find it fun and worthwhile putting the time in to learn and perform it. I feel the best of Haydn will never sound old and the basic structure is so solid that it has been used for centuries since he was alive and creating. Maybe this arrangement will allow a fresh listen to this particular piece.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953813 Composed by Haydn Reeder. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 14 pages. Haydn Reeder #519645. Published by Haydn Reeder (A0.953813). This land singing for string quartet by Haydn Reeder: program note This piece which runs for seven and a half minutes was completed in 2013. There are two elements in this work which represent interests that can be heard in other compositions of mine. The first is an interest in Australian Aboriginal chanting and this is heard in the opening and closing melodies played by the cello. It seems to influence other parts of the piece, there being quite a lot of melodic writing. It can also be felt in the Postlude. The second interest is in birdsong. However, the relevant section which occurs some way into the piece has its origins in flight formations, in this case the way a flock lands. Here, each of the higher instruments plays similar material independently. Gestures of a more aggressive nature usually featuring tremolo are introduced, developed and subsequently recede, providing a background to wide-ranging melodic lines. The Postlude, with its insistence on accumulating chords by means of slow upbeats produces a dream-like atmosphere to close the work. H.R.

Violin Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953830 Composed by Haydn Reeder. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. 10 pages. Haydn Reeder #3436231. Published by Haydn Reeder (A0.953830). Glances, Repose for unaccompanied violin was written in 1979 and the performing time is about seven and a half minutes. It is in one movement comprising four sections. Section two is quiet and still and flanked by sections displaying striving and progression. The fourth and final section is also energetic, but is pinned down by pedal points. The title reflects this form: it suggested the image of the face of an Indian dancer who glances with the eyes but whose other facial features remain passive.  This image is appropriate also because it has associations with the wide-ranging and outward-directed motion of the outer sections, as well as with the 'glancing bow' of the fourth section. Two melodic ideas provide the basis of the music, one active and twelve-tone, the other, passive and more limited.  The work requires many types of expression and technique from the performer.

UPC: 038081343099.Celebrate Haydn's 200th anniversary with this outstanding symphony! This exciting and energetic work is a rare example of Haydn's use of the minor tonality in symphonic writing, which is aptly subtitled Trauer, translated Mourning. The string parts are very close to the original with changes made only to accommodate the important lines of the original oboe and horn parts. Students will thoroughly enjoy the contrapuntal style allowing simultaneous independent melodies. Some shifting is required through third position for violins and fourth position for cellos and basses. Concert Band - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.840485 Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. Arranged by Ted R. Marcus. Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic. Score and Parts. 93 pages. Ted R. Marcus #3368179. Published by Ted R. Marcus (A0.840485). The tonal palette of the modern concert band brings fresh color and variety to the complete second movement of Haydn's Surprise Symphony. The famous theme and one of the variations explore the subtle contrast between bassoon and English horn. The original repeats are opened up and scored differently, using contrasting colors and combinations of solo clarinet, solo flute, piccolo, and soprano saxophone. A repeated section first has a flute and oboe accompanied with clarinets, then a saxophone quartet on the repeat. One variation features a solo piccolo and bells. And a prominent pair of horns recalls the sound of Haydn's divertimenti for wind ensemble. Duration: approx. 6:00. Written for an adult community band, this challenging arrangement is appropriate for a university, college, or community band, or an adventurous high school wind ensemble. The bassoon, English horn, and soprano saxophone parts are all fully cued to allow rehearsal or performance in the absence of any or all of them. Two strong horn players are essential; but the third and fourth horn parts are easier, and cued in trombones and euphonium. The bassoon parts use the tenor clef and ascend to a high B-flat; the second bassoon has only one 8-measure high passage that doubles the horns and can be omitted if necessary. The alternate versions of both bassoon parts use only bass clef but are otherwise identical. All essential bassoon passages are cued in saxophone and bass clarinet parts.Instrumentation: Piccolo / Flute 1-2 / Oboe / English Horn / Clarinet 1-2-3 / Alto Clarinet / Bass Clarinet / Bassoon 1-2 (and alternate parts using only bass clef) / Soprano Saxophone / Alto Saxophone / Tenor Saxophone / Baritone Saxophone / Trumpet 1-2-3 / Horn 1-2-3-4 / Trombone 1-2-3 / Euphonium / Baritone T.C. / Tuba / String Bass / Percussion (snare drum, crash cymbals) / Mallets (xylophone, bells) / TimpaniPlease visit my Web site to explore more classics for adventurous concert bands.
