String Quartet String Quartet - Digital Download SKU: A0.548632 Composed by Gruber. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas. 7 pages. Jmsgu3 #3400587. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548632). Silent Night arranged for string quartet with a re-harmonized final verse. Silent Night Origins Father Joseph Mohr wrote the lyrics for a new Christmas Carol. He wanted the new carol for his Christmas Eve Mass. With only a couple of hours until the service, He asked organist and schoolteacher Franz Gruber to write a melody and simple accompaniment to accompany the lyrics. The result is probably the most famous Christmas carols – Silent Night. First Performance Perhaps because the organ was undergoing repairs or to ensure the accompaniment was easy enough, Mohr asked Gruber to write it for the guitar. Mohr played the guitar, and Mohr and Gruber gave the world premiere performance at the Christmas Eve Mass in 1818 at St. Nicholas Church in Oberndorf in Salzburg. Original Score Eventually, the original score became lost, and Mohr's name was largely forgotten.  Though the public initially recognized Gruber as the composer, many people began rumors that a more famous composer was responsible over time. Thus, they floated the names of Haydn, Mozart, and even Beethoven. Authorities eventually settled the matter when a manuscript in Mohr’s handwriting turned up in 1820. Consequently, we learn that Mohr wrote the lyrics in 1816, and Gruber composed the melody in 1818. Popularity Nonetheless, Silent Night is still very popular. Singers have performed this song in nearly every genre and multiple languages. Perhaps the most famous version is the one Bing Crosby crafted. This version is the third best-selling physical single recording in the history of recorded music. This recording was released in 1935 and sold at least 30 million copies. Only two songs have ever sold more. Elton John released Candle in the Wind 1997 and sold 33 million copies. The record for most copies ever sold goes to Bing Crosby. He released White Christmas in 1942 and sold 50 million physical copies.

Bassoon,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1316565 Composed by Kenneth Baird. Classical,Contest,Festival. Score and part. 10 pages. Kenneth Baird Music #905289. Published by Kenneth Baird Music (A0.1316565). Festival Solo in Classical Style– for bassoon solo with piano accompaniment– by Kenneth BairdWhile composed in 2023, every effort has been made to compose this solo in a true classical style, similar to the concerto movements of Mozart, Haydn, and Hummel. Memorable lyrical melodies, legato, staccato, and marcato passages, dynamic variety, and traditional harmonies, while requiring only limited technical demands, make this an outstanding choice for someone seeking to perform an intermediate-level classical-style solo. The included optional cadenza expands the range with the lowest note being Bb1 and the highest note being Ab4, but the cadenza may be omitted. While composed originally for trumpet, the composer feels this works equally well on the bassoon and the included optional cadenza was composed specifically for the bassoon. The piano accompaniment is accessible to advanced intermediate pianists.

Autumn Evening is a dramatic setting of a section from The Seasons – the long descriptive narrative poem by James Thomson (1700-48) from which the text of Haydn’s oratorio was later adapted. The music gives a vivid description of autumnal dusk, mist, and moonlight, moving to a soaring climax as the moon emerges through the clouds. The download contains full score, separate voice part, clarinet in B flat part, and viola part (alternative to clarinet)https://www.alanbullard.co.uk/score/autumn-evening/www.colneedition.co.uk.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031686 Composed by Austin Wintory. Contemporary. Score and parts. 39 pages. Austin Wintory #3512243. Published by Austin Wintory (A0.1031686). EP!C!!! is an overture-sized orchestral work, originally commissioned by the West Michigan Symphony in 2016. It is intended as a higher energy opener or Act 1 closer. Program notes:Entirely by mistake, EP!C!!! is study in conflict. The piece began with a simple premise: compose a work which teases some of the pervasive clichés of today’s musical landscape (particularly the Hollywood or so-called media music scenes). Those clichés are primarily two gestures: 1) a progression of chords, often called the Chords of Destiny (consisting of i – VI – III – VIII) and 2) an endlessly repeating minor third ostinato. The conflict emerged internally when, after multiple false starts, I would quickly start to hate the piece because it felt like the clichés were being presented whole cloth, without the slightest sense of irony. I became deeply paranoid that the music wasn’t in on its own joke. When I would reverse course, it felt condescending, as though it were declaring from some erudite ivory tower that it was above those gestures. The trouble particularly with the latter is that clichés become so for a reason; something genuinely compelling becomes so ubiquitous that it loses some of the freshness, but that doesn’t erase what initially made it compelling. So the piece needed to somehow make fun of the fact that these gestures are cliché, while not dismissing their intrinsic value. And indeed, to celebrate that value! It took a long time to find my place between those two extremes, and ultimately I think the music that emerged is actually the conflict itself manifest. The two gestures are this constant presence, almost like a seductive temptation, that are initially regarded as distractions, but eventually become the music’s core. It’s as though the music finally decided to just relent and find something to truly love and celebrate within these overwrought ideas, haters be damned. However, for the sake of total clarity of intention, I couldn’t resist some on-the-nose tongue-in-cheek. The little cameo of Haydn’s lulling 94th Symphony 2nd movement tune is my way of saying you think classical music is epic??? THEN LISTEN TO THIS SH*T!!! before inevitably popping open a Mountain Dew and snowboarding into an avalanche.- Austin Wintory, October 21, 2016

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.1092739 Composed by Ignaz Josef Pleyel. Arranged by Artaria Editions. Classical. Score and parts. 54 pages. Artaria Editions #696845. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1092739). For string quartet Artaria Editions AE233 Edited by Dianne James 54 pages This is a scholarly edition of a public domain work. Pleyel's Op.2 String Quartets were first published in 1784 by the Viennese publisher Graeffer. They were advertised in the Wiener Zeitung on 15 December of that year and appeared with a dedication to Joseph Haydn. All six works reveal Pleyel as a composer of considerable skill and accomplishment. Thematic invention is consistently high across all six works and some movements, many of the sonata forms in particular, are remarkable for the rich variety of musical material presented.
