Peet du Toit #5802143. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802575). The Symphony No. 6 in D major  is an early symphony written in 1761 by Joseph Haydn and the first written after Haydn had joined the Esterházy court. It is the first of three that are characterised by unusual virtuoso writing across the orchestral ensemble. It is popularly known as Le matin (Morning).Haydn wrote this, his first symphonic work for his new employer Prince Paul II Anton Esterházy, shortly after joining the court. He had signed his employment contract with him on May 1, 1761. Prince Paul gave Haydn the three times of day as a theme for composition. The minuet also contains concertante passages. Here is an extract thereof, presented as a violin solo with cello accompaniment. Enjoy!

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.847837 Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. Arranged by Piacere Music Sheets. Classical,Instructional,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Piacere Music Sheets #6623947. Published by Piacere Music Sheets (A0.847837). Opus/Catalog Number: Hob. XVI:8 Key/Tone: G Major Movements/Sections: Allegro - Minuet - Andante - Allegro Year/Date of Composition: 1766 or before Difficulty: Grade 5/12 (Intermediate) Obs.: In Piano Trio in F major, Hob.XV:39, the first Allegro is used as Movement 1 transposed to F major. As each one of Haydn's first keyboard sonatas, this particular Sonata Hob. XVI:8 is written in the light, galant style which was very popular in the mid-18th century. As the Classical sonata takes its origin in the Baroque suite, Haydn named his first sonatas Divertimenti or Partitas. It is believed that this Sonata Hob. XVI:8 was intended as a teaching piece for Haydn's students. There exists no autograph version of this sonata, rather, this sonata has survived in the form of manuscript copies made by pupils of Haydn or by his copyists.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1456932 Composed by Joseph Haydn (1732 - 1809). Arranged by Pat Spence. Chamber,Classical,Instructional. 88 pages. Piper Publications #1036012. Published by Piper Publications (A0.1456932). Haydn's original for string quartet has been arranged for woodwind quintet. Known as the Sunrise because the rising opening theme of the first movement  seems to depict the first appearance of the sun at dawn. Whether Haydn intended it or not, this movement has caught the imagination of many listeners as some of the earliest programme music (rather in the manner of Beethoven's Moonlight sonata for piano a few years later). The Adagio, Menuetto & Trio, and Finale follow a more traditional pattern but, as ever, Haydn's ingenuity produces small innovations such as the triplet semi quavers/ sixteenth notes which become sextuplets in the Adagio, the unusual contrasting Trio and the acceleration of the final section of the Finale.Players of Advanced intermediate standard and above will enjoy the challenge of this delightful Piece.

Large Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.555862 Composed by M Haydn. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Classical. Score and parts. 19 pages. RayThompsonMusic #5954953. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.555862). Johann Michael Haydn, the younger brother of Joseph Haydn, was born in 1737 in the Austrian village of Rohrau. Following in his brother's footsteps he trained at the choir school of St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna where he was thought to be a brighter student than Joseph. After leaving the choir-school, he was first appointed as Kapellmeister at Nagyvárad in Romania and then, in 1762, at Salzburg where he stayed until his death in 1805, composing church and instrumental music. The Turkish March is scored for wind instruments and percussion. Mock Turkish music was very popular during the classical period, and was famously exploited by Mozart in his opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Haydn's work is typical of the genre having bright lively melodies given an exotic flavour through the addition of untuned percussion, particularly cymbals. (Originally scored for double wind quintet, two trumpets and percussion)My arrangement is scored for double wind quintet and bass.(no trumpets or percussion)All essential trumpet solos are covered by the other winds.Horn parts are in G as the original.I have written a bass part to add depth to the piece.
