Brass Ensemble,Trombone Quartet Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1092487 Composed by Francesco Durante. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Sacred. Score and parts. 7 pages. Regis Bookshar #696578. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1092487). Kyrie - by Francesco Durante; Trombone Quartet – Intermediate – Digital Download. “Kyrieâ€, originally written for a four-part vocal ensemble by Francesco Durante, has now been transcribed, edited and arranged by Regis Bookshar, for a Trombone Quartet. It would be a welcomed addition to any music library. This short composition, which lasts less than two minutes, will provide many students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long phrases, and to help them to continue to develop good intonation because many of the phrases cadence on a unison note. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services. It is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (7 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble’s extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quartet version of this composition for many church services, especially funerals, when we were asked to supply something more somber and introspective rather than the louder, more festive music which many people come to expect from a Trumpet Ensemble. Francesco Durante was an Italian composer who was born on March 31, 1684 at Frattamaggiore, in the Kingdom of Naples. At an early age he entered the Conservatorio dei poveri di Gesu Cristo, in Naples, where he received lessons from Gaetano Greco. Later he became a pupil of Alessandro Scarlatti at the Conservatorio di Sant’Onofrio. He is said to have succeeded Scarlatti in 1725 at Sant’Onofrio and to have remained there until 1742, when he succeeded Nicola Porpora as head of the Conservatorio di Santa Maria de Loreto, also in Naples. He held this post for thirteen years, until his death on September 30, 1755. His fame as a teacher was considerable, and, unlike his Neapolitan contemporaries, who attracted international notice with their operas, Francesco Durante achieved recognition through his church music, along with some vocal chamber and instrumental works. His concern was not quantity. A complete collection of Durante’s works, consisting almost exclusively of sacred music, was presented by Gaspare Selveggi, a Neapolitan art collector and music theorist, to the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. The imperial library of Vienna also preserves a valuable collection of Durante’s manuscripts. The fact that Durante never composed for the stage brought him an exaggerated reputation as a composer of sacred music. He was considered one of the best church composers of his style and period. In his masses, requiems, litanies and Lamentations, he could provide strong expressive moments, as he does in this “Kyrieâ€. In addition to this arrangement for a Trombone Quartet, Regis Bookshar has also made other arrangements of this selection. There are Quartets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I’m certain that this beautiful arrangement of Francesco Durante’s “Kyrie†will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Small Ensemble High Voice,Low Voice,Medium Voice,Multi-Percussion,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.733079 Composed by James Wagner. 20th Century,Opera. Score and parts. 104 pages. Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings #3017785. Published by Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings (A0.733079). For more than a year after abdicating the throne of Russia, Nicholas and his family have been under house arrest. The opera opens with the former Czar lamenting his fall from power and precarious circumstances. His wife, Anexandra, consoles him and they sing of their undying love in the duet, One Love Forever. One by one, the children awake and join them on stage. Anastasia dramatically portrays a dream she has just had. Then, in an upbrat song of hope she explains her optimistic outlook in My Name Is Anastasia. The ensemble joins her at the end, assuring one another they will all soon be rising up to life again. To while away the time, the family pretends they are at the French Ambassador's New Year's Ball.At the height of the ensuing waltz, Comrade Sladislav, Captain of the Red Guard, and a band of revolutionary guards burst it. Sladislav harangues Nicholas and the family. Then, in the vindictive Song of the Revolution, he extols the greatness of la Révolution as the family watches in fear. Nicholas and Alexandra remind each other of their one love forever and the children look for dawn in darkest night. The Captain then marches the family down to the cellar (off-stage), ostensibly to await transport. Thus trapped, they are easy prey for the revolvers of Sladislav and his men. The self-satisfies revolutionary reemerges and makes his closing statements before exiting.Scored for piano and percussion. Dramatis Personæ:Anastasia (soprano) Comrade Sladislav (baritone) Nicholas (baritone) Alexandra (contralto) Olga (soprano) Maria (mezzo-soprano) Alexis (mezzo-soprano) Guards (2 tenors and a baritone)

Organ - Digital Download SKU: A0.828708 Composed by Jan Zach. Arranged by Guido Menestrina. Baroque. Score. 5 pages. Guido Menestrina #405395. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828708). Transcription by Guido Menestrina, follow the score on youtube: https://youtu.be/A0riyf_X3P4 Jan Zach, called in German Johann Zach (baptized 13 November 1699 – 24 May 1773) was a Czech composer, violinist and organist. Although he was a gifted and versatile composer capable of writing both in Baroque and Classical idioms, his eccentric personality led to numerous conflicts and lack of steady employment from about 1756 onwards. Zach was born in Čelákovice, Bohemia into a wheelwright's family. In 1724 he moved to Prague and started working as violinist at St Gallus and at St Martín. According to Dlabacž, he studied organ under Bohuslav Matěj Černohorský, who lived in Prague from 1720 to 1727. Zach's career as organist started at St Martín, and by 1737 he was also playing the organ at the monastic church of the Merciful Brethren and the Minorite chapel of St Ann. In 1737 he competed for the position of organist at St. Vitus Cathedral, but was not successful. Details of what happened next are unknown: he was reported to have left Bohemia, but apparently remained in Prague at least until 1740. By early 1745 he was living in Augsburg and then on 24 April 1745 he was appointed Kapellmeister of the Electoral orchestra at the court of Johann Friedrich Karl von Ostein, Prince-Elector of Mainz. He visited Italy in 1746 and, briefly, Bohemia in 1747.[1] Zach evidently had a complex and eccentric personality, which led to numerous conflicts that plagued his life at Mainz. He was suspended from his position in 1750 and finally dismissed in 1756. From that point on it appears that Zach never again had steady employment. He traveled through Europe and supported himself financially by performing and selling copies of his works, teaching, dedicating his compositions, and so on. He visited numerous courts and monasteries in Germany and Austria, stayed in Italy in 1767 and between 1771and 1772, and may have worked as choirmaster at the Pairis Abbey in Alsace. He stayed several times at the Stams Abbey at Stams, Tyrol, where he may have had connections, and served as music teacher at the Jesuit school in Munich, for several brief periods of time. The last mentions of Zach in contemporary sources indicate that in January 1773 he was at the Wallerstein court, and according to the Frankfurt Kayserliche Reichs-Ober-Post-Amts-Zeitung of 5 June 1773 he died on a journey, at Ellwangen. Zach was buried in the local church of St Wolfgang. Zach's surviving oeuvre comprises a wealth of both instrumental and sacred music: some 30 masses, 28 string sinfonias, a dozen keyboard works and other pieces. Due to the nature of Zach's life it is difficult to establish a precise chronology. His work reflects the transition from the old Baroque style to the emerging Classical music era ideals. Zach was equally adept at strict counterpoint and the style galant, and was also influenced by Czech folk music. Zach was fond of chromatic modulations. Scholar Johann Branberger, writing in the early 20th century, noted Zach's preference for chromatic, and often exotic, themes. Only a few of Zach's pieces were published during his lifetime: a harpsichord sonata (in Oeuvres mêlées, v/6 (Nuremberg, 1759)), a harpsichord concerto (Nuremberg, 1766; GS C13), and the collection Sei sonate for harpsichord and violin or flute (Paris, 1767).

Small Ensemble Flute,Harp,Piano,Piccolo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1032136 Composed by Aleksander Czarnecki. Contemporary. Score and parts. 162 pages. Aleksander Norbert Czarnecki #4411649. Published by Aleksander Norbert Czarnecki (A0.1032136). Aleksander Czarnecki (1993-2018) was a Polish polymath, pianist - composer, mathematician and a philosopher. His research focused on the Calabi Yau manifold. He left an astonishing musical legacy, unprecedently rich, diverse  and impressive for his young age, including several large scale works as well as piano/orchestra miniatures, chamber music, pieces for piano solo etc. His unmistakingly personal compositional style could be easiest described as post-classical/post - tonal, and is instantly recognizable by its highly intrinsic, intellectually refined idiom of Scriabinesque, modernist/ avant guarde, New Complexity , later minimalist/repetitive music influences married with frequent appeals to historic techniques (contrapunctus, Gregorian plain chant, French harpsichordists, ethnic modality), a dense emotional drive and a profound sensitivity, all in the best of the resolutely post-Romantic tradition further enhanced with a super-human - as if machine induced - level of  pianistic/structural difficulty, typically far beyond the one represented by the most demanding examples of, say, Godovsky's/Cziffra's transcriptions or Sorabji's works.  (Jozef Kapustka, pianist)Aleksander Czarnecki on his scientific research: My research work concentrates on the modularity conjecture for Calabi-Yau manifolds according to which the Galois representation is isomorphic ( exact to the semisimplification and the finite number of Euler factors) to the Galois representation assigned to an automorphic form -equivalently the L-series of the Calabi-Yau manifold should be equal to the L-series of a certain modular form. The modularity conjecture has been extensively studied by many algebraic geometricians (Dieulefait, van Straten, Yuri, Schoen, Hulek, Verrill, Schuett, Meyer) however these studies have not  resulted in producing  a  sufficiently representative number of  examples of small level modular forms. In the best understood, rigid case of Calabi-Yau threefolds defined over the field of rational numbers, the modularity conjecture delivers from a more general Serre conjecture, as proven by Wirtemberger and Khare. Additionally, the modularity has been known a property only for certain particular Calabi-Yau varieties. For some non rigid Calabi-Yau threefolds (certain double octics) defined over rationals ( or more generally over particular number fields) the existence of modular or Hilbert modular forms has been hypothetically suggested. I am mainly interested in Frobenius polynomials of non-rigid double octics and have been extensively working with variants of Dwork's deformation method, monodromy and selected p-adic methods including algorithms by Kedlaya, Lauder, Tuitman et al. , Picard-Fuchs operators etc. (Aleksander Czarnecki, 2018)

Flavio Regis Cunha #786719. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha (A0.1187088). Yann Tiersen: Sur le fil for Piano SoloThe film tells the story of Amélie, a girl who grows up isolated from other children. This happens because her father thinks that Amélie has an anomaly in her heart, as it beats very fast during the monthly exams that the father does on the girl. In fact, Amélie is nervous about this rare physical contact with her father. Because of that, and because of that alone, her heart beats faster than normal. Her parents then deprive Amélie of attending school and having contact with other children. Her mother, who is a teacher, taught her how to read and write until she died. Her childhood and her mother's premature death end up strongly influencing Amélie's development and the way she relates to people and the world as an adult. After coming of age, she moves from the suburbs to the Parisian district of Montmartre, where she starts working as a waitress. One day, she finds in the bathroom of her apartment a box with toys and figurines belonging to the former resident of the apartment. She decides to look for it and deliver it to its owner, Dominique, anonymously. Upon noticing that he cries with joy when he regains his object, the girl is impressed and remodels her vision of the world. From then on, Amélie engaged in small gestures in order to help and make the people around her happier. There she gains a new meaning for her existence. In one of these small big actions, she meets a man. And then her fate changes forever.Original Soundtrack by Yann Tiersen.Intermediate.Format: Concert, 9 x 12 inches.7 pages.

Schott Music - Digital #Q6198. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6198). Many of Rodion Shchedrin’s compositions are distinguished by deeply Slavonic feeling and thrilling virtuoso displays. Even though Shchedrin has won recognition all over the world for his work, he remains an essentially Russian composer who has not broken off his ties to Russian musical folk traditions and poetry. It is thus not surprising to learn of his profound admiration for his compatriot Shostakovich (Shchedrin writes: “He is like a God to me.â€) The “dialogues†in this one-movement orchestral piece give expression to this admiration; they describe and offer a musical commentary on the character of Shostakovich’s music and of the man himself.2 Picc. · 2 · 2 · 1 Engl. Published by Matthew Nunes Music (A0.1259401). Listen to this piece hereComposer’s NotesI. Capriccio           This lively capriccio features a bouncy melody that is imitated in canon through the other two clarinets. Then the descending fourth motive introduced early is developed in a series of succinct statements. The movement ends with a three part canon with each clarinet racing against the others.  II. Elegy*          After someone leaves our lives there are lingering reminders of the pain of their absence combined with the sweetness of the happiest memories. The middle section represents a flashback to happier times yet the sustained notes hint that something is not quite right. In the end the melody is unable to resolve as it should yet those around it continue on their way.          *Please note that the bass clarinet player should play soprano clarinet for this movement only.  III. Frenetic           This piece would not have been written were it not for the prodding of my friend and fellow composer Felix Rivera. I would joke with him that he may never write a piece not based on tritones and he quipped back that I may never write a piece for clarinets. I decided it was time to fix not having a clarinet selection in my repertoire and this work is the result. This movement is a frenetic and virtuosic dance based off of Rivera’s signature interval of the tritone. - Matthew NunesWindsor, September 2014 - March 2015.

Flute Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.559766 Composed by John Dowland. Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. Renaissance. 66 pages. Lisa L Ochoco #4726485. Published by Lisa L Ochoco (A0.559766). John Dowland (1562 – 1626) was a lutenist and singer in the Renaissance Period. The lute was a stringed instrument, most closely related to our guitar. He wrote quite a lot of music that is still played and sung by guitarists and singers today. Although his music was written for stringed instruments in general, many arrangers have adapted his works for wind instruments. This collection of 20 songs from his Third Book of Songs is arranged for flute quartet – 4 C flutes or 3 C flutes and alto. Most of these songs are rather short, so it is recommended that each song is played in its entirety at least twice. I arranged these songs so that the 1st flute always has the melody. To practice fairness in all parts, the parts should be rotated, to give each musician a chance to play the melody. Song list: 1.    Farewell Too Fair 2.    Time Stands Still 3.    Behold a Wonder Here 4.    Daphne Was Not so Chaste 5.    Me, Me, and None but Me 6.    When Phoebus First did Daphne Love 7.    Say Love if Ever Thou Didst Find 8.    Flow Not so Fast Ye Fountains 9.    What if I Never Speed? 10.  Love Stood Amaz’d 11.  Lend Your Ears to My Sorrow 12.  By a Fountain Where I Lay 13.  O What Hath Overwrought 14.  Farewell Unkind 15.  Weep You no More, Sad Fountains 16.  Fie on This Feigning 17.  I Must Complain 18.  It was a Time When Silly Bees 19.  The Lowest Trees Have Tops 20.  What Poor Astronomers are They If each song is played twice in its entirety, you will have almost an hour's worth of music. Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1164066 Composed by Al Stillman and Ernesto Lecuona. Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Multicultural,Pop,Standards,World. Score and parts. 37 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #764401. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.1164066). Ernesto Lecuona was born 1895 in Cuba.  He began piano lessons at 5 years of age and developed into a virtuoso pianist and internationally celebrated composer.  In 1928 he composed Suite Andalucía, a six-movement piano piece portraying the people and places of the Andalusia region of southern Spain.  Two of those pieces eventually achieved tremendous popularity as standalone songs:  #2, “Andalucia†and #6, “Malagueña.† Lecuona had composed both in ¾ time.  Salvador Tutti Camarata reframed “Andalucia†in 4/4, Al Stillman provided English lyrics and the song was given a new title, “The Breeze and I.† Jimmy Dorsey’s big band recorded it in 1940 with the vocal by Bob Eberly.  It was hugely popular, lasting nine weeks on the Billboard magazine chart and peaking at #2.  Fifteen years later, Caterina Valente recorded both “The Breeze and I†and “Malagueña†to great success.     This arrangement opens in A-flat major with Trumpets, Horn and Tuba laying down a Latin beat and the Trombone playing an opening lick.  After the introduction, Trombone and Trumpets take turns with the melody, while Horn and Tuba provide variety and accents.  On the second time through, the key changes to E-flat major and begins with a Trumpets-and-lower-brass fanfare.  The melody repeats, but this time with a different take.  Horn and Trombone take turns with melody and counter melody, then Trumpets take over.  After several cascade effects, the tune reaches its end and Trumpets play an extended version of Trombone’s lick from the introduction.  The group then repeats the final 16 bars of the tune and winds up with an extended ending treatment.  Trombone once again contributes its opening lick, and the arrangement fades away . . . all to a Latin beat.  Enjoy!     Time signature is 2/2 and suggested tempo is 72 BPM, which is maintained all the way through.  There are two instances of a one-bar change to 3/2.  The fanfare at Section C contains a measure and a half of 16th notes.  All notes are well within the normal playing range of the five instruments.     Completed in 2023, performance time runs about 3 minutes, 30 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge.  He would like to receive your suggestions, comments, corrections and criticisms.  For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct search box.  (Also, purchase of this piece entitles you to your choice of another of his arrangements at no charge; send a copy of your purchase receipt directly to him at lessmith61@bellsouth.net.).
