Saxophone Quintet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1255318 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Chamber,Christian,Easter,Historic. 29 pages. Regis Bookshar #848835. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1255318). Three selections based on Christ lag in Todesbanden (Christ lay in death's bonds) (from Cantata No.   4, BMV   4) - Johann Sebastian Bach - Saxophone Quintet (3 Altos, 2 Tenors) - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download.Cantata No.   4, BMV   4, Christ lag in Todesbanden (also spelled Todes Banden) (Christ lay in death's bonds) is a cantata for Easter written by Johann Sebastian Bach and is his earliest surviving Church Cantata. It was probably written in 1707 when he was 22 years old. It is a Chorale Cantata, a style in which both the text and music are based on a hymn. In this instance, the source was Martin Luther's hymn of the same name which became a main Easter hymn in German Lutheranism.Regis Bookshar has transcribed and arranged three selections based on this hymn tune, two from Bach's Cantata No.   4, BMV   4, and also his Chorale Prelude, BMV 625. They may be played individually or as a trilogy and each movement gets more complex that the previous one. The first selection in this trilogy is the Chorale, Christ lag in Todesbanden, the final chorus from his Cantata No.   4, a straightforward four-part chorale setting of the hymn (Regis has also added a fifth part). This is followed by Bach's Chorale Prelude, BMV 625, a piece from his Orgelbuchlein (Little Organ Book), a collection of 46 Preludes for organ, written almost exclusively during the 1708-1718 period, while Bach was court organist at Weimar. For the final selection, Regis has placed the polyphonic and imitative chorus, Es war ein wunderlicher Krieg, da Tod und Leben rungen (It was a strange battle, that death and life waged), which Bach had placed in in the middle of his Cantata No.   4.This arrangement is for a Saxophone Quintet, consisting of 3 Alto Saxophones and 2 Tenor Saxophones. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (29 pages).I hope you will enjoy playing these selections and please search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. There are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. I think you will be pleased with what you may find.

String quartet - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7119 As Ludwig van Beethoven could (possibly) have composed it. Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Birtel. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 13 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q7119. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7119). What do Beethoven and the children's song Fuchs Du hast die Gans gestohlen have in common? Nothing, strictly speaking. Although the song was written as early as 1824 (and theoretically, Beethoven could have known it), it has not left deep marks on his oeuvre. But what if he had known it? Wolfgang Birtel pursued this question and, in reply to it, conceived a symphony for string quartet: behind each movement is an original symphony by Beethoven (spiced with quotes from other works). The children's song appears as the main theme in the final movement of Symphony No. 1, in the famous funeral march of Eroica, fate knocks at the door (of the goose house) in remembrance of Symphony No. 5, and the work ends with Ode to the Roast Goose (Symphony No. 9). A funny and cleverly arranged collage, a performing and listening pleasure in the footsteps of Beethoven.

By Kevin Birch. Arranged by Kevin Birch. 20th Century,Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic. Brass Band. 189 pages. Birch Music Online #1062686. Published by Birch Music Online (A0.1485623). Blore Heath 1459 was commissioned by the Audley Brass Band (Staffordshire, UK) in 1998. The Battle of Blore Heath was the first major battle in the War of the Roses. The music sets out to portray the events that took place there in 1459 in which the then Lord Audley, James Tuchet met his demise. The composition is based on material derived from the opening maestoso statement. Fanfare ideas lead on to a march theme that descibes the assembling of both sides at the battlefield. Quicker and more agitated passages ensue portraying two unsucessful assualts by Audley's men. The main battle scene then unfolds during which he, Lord Audley is killed. A touching lament follows his death with solos for Euphonium and Cornet in the works most sensitive section. The original march theme returns in the form of a funeral march and the tempo gradually returns  to its original form in an extended coda section before the initial opening statement brings the piece to its conclusion.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.734626 Composed by Eliot Daniel. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Contemporary. 11 pages. Chicory Music #6704253. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734626). On October 15, 1951, the very first episode of the I Love Lucy show aired on CBS and became the most watched TV show in the U.S. for four of its seven-year run. Fun trivia about the opening theme song is that during the first season the show opened with their sponsor Philip Morris’ animation of stick figure cartoons of Lucy and Desi climbing down a pack of Philip Morris cigarettes. It was scored with Ferde Grofé’s Jr. The Grand Canyon Suite theme (a composition from 1931).From the second season onwards, the I Love Lucy signature tune we all know so well became the main theme, and one of the most recognizable pieces of music on the planet. It was written by composer Eliot Daniel who cranked it out in an afternoon as a favor to his old Coast Guard buddy Jess Oppenheimer, the show’s producer. Since Daniel still had another year under his exclusive contract to Fox, he asked Oppenheimer to keep his name out of it. Consequently his name does not appear on first or the second season TV credits for what became one of the most popular TV themes. Later, Daniel did seek credit and received royalties from syndicated reruns for the rest of his life. The lyrics were written by Harold Adamson for an episode in the third season in which Lucy believes everyone has forgotten her birthday. So of course Ricky saves the day after a near disaster. This Intermediate Level arrangement for Saxophone Quintet / Choir plus optional Acoustic Bass and Drum Set parts is arranged in a slow ballad style.Performance Time: Approx. 1 minute 40 seconds

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1024916 Composed by Manny Cepeda. Contemporary,Jazz,Latin,Standards. Score and parts. 52 pages. Manny Cepeda #6808599. Published by Manny Cepeda (A0.1024916). Manny's main theme of this song is Cuba's port of entry where the slaves were brought to Cuba. The term Matanzas in Spanish means massacre as many of the slaves who were transported to Cuba never got there from their harsh treatment by their captors and the horrible conditions of the ship they were being transported. Manny also uses Afro-beat a rhythm not used by only familiar with it. The rhythm and the minor key Manny uses created a very mysterious and haunting feel. From that feel, he then moves into Afro-Cuban Son to brighten the sadness at the beginning of the song. For your percussionist performing this song, care must be taken to play exactly what is written or your song won't have the correct feeling and impact on your listening audience!

Carolina Fox Trot by Will Vodery, arranged by Paul Burnell for duet - instrument in Eb or Bb, and instrument in BbDownload comprises both score and parts.Duration 3:00 Part 1 in Eb (Alto Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Horn) or Bb (Tenor Saxophone etc.)Part 2 in Bb (Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, Euphonium)The arrangement may be suitable for other instruments with the same transpositions.Score shows parts transposed with Part 1 shown in EbPlay cue-sized notes in brackets where main notes are out of range or inconvenient. The final section of Vodery's original piano score includes instructions to 'clap hands' and 'knock on piano with knuckles'. This arrangement includes similar instructions for the same bars, indicated by x noteheads. Players may choose a percussive effect such as key clicks, tapping the body of the instrument, stamping feet etc.The final four bars of this arrangement are an extension of the previous bars and may be omitted.'Carolina Fox Trot' was recorded by the Victor Military Band on 13 October 1914 with the Victor recording label ledgers noting: 34 bars per minute, equivalent to 68 bpm. A recording by the Pathé Dance Orchestra in late 1914-early 1915 appears to be at a faster tempo - reflected in this arrangement. Programme note:'Carolina Fox Trot' was written by US composer and arranger Will H. Vodery and published as a piano piece in 1914, with a sub-title 'New One Step', and with a front cover description: New Society Dance - Originated by Billy Kent & Jeanette Warner - America's Classiest Dancers. It is possible that the title of the piece was intended to be just 'Carolina', with 'Fox Trot' being a descriptive subtitle. The Fox Trot emerged as a new popular dance in 1914, and was initially danced to ragtime music. Will Vodery is perhaps best known for the vocal and choral arrangements that he created for the original Broadway stage production of the classic musical 'Show Boat' (1927).

Thanks, John. The Way We Were is a song by American singer Barbra Streisand from her fifteenth studio album of the same name. Its lyrics detail the melancholic relationship between the two main characters in the 1973 film of the same name. American composer and producer Marvin Hamlisch created the final melody for The Way We Were, which initially was a problem between himself and the singer. Streisand had asked Hamlisch to produce a composition in minor key, but he instead wrote it in major key due to his fear of the song's lyrics being revealed too quickly.
