The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi is a song written in 1911.  It is one of the most beloved and popular of college fraternity songs. It's a favorite among ballroom orchestras and has been used in movie musicals. It is also a favorite of men's Barbershop singing groups. This String Quartet arrangement begins with the instruments in close harmony. The melody starts in the 1st Violin part, but eventually switches over to the Cello. There is quite a bit of overlap in the voicing - which makes for interesting chordal placement - and there is also a key change before the finale.
