As an author he published an essay on “The Evolution of the Boehm Flute� and composed a few pieces for the flute, including music for the alto flute with which he is shown in a well-known photograph dating from about 1895 in Adolph Goldberg’s ‘Portraits and biographies of outstanding flute virtuosos, dilettantes and composers’.
