Hepburn was not a trained vocalist, and Paramount wanted to overdub the song. Mancini had to write something that would be comfortable for her range. A month and a half later, he began. Then one-half hour later, the music was finished. Then came the challenge of finding a lyricist. Mancini reached out to Johnny Mercer. And Moon River was born. This arrangement for Brass Quintet (with optional percussion) is a wonderful selection for concerts or weddings. Brass Band instrumentation has been included (Eb Horn, Bb Trombone, and Eb Bass).
