Bugs Bower composed several volumes of Bop Duets.  Like so many other jazz musicians, my roommate and I spent countless hours playing through the volume we had, him on tenor sax and me on trumpet.  Playing them is a masterclass in jazz phrasing, and studying them is a masterclass in the classic principles of counterpoint.  It's a little bit like a Bach fugue.  You start with a short catchy theme, and then let it go where it wants to go, but always building on that theme.  I allowed myself a third voice here, which allow a little more richness.  See also my Sundry Quartet, which adds a fourth instrument to the same basic music.  Level: advanced intermediate.  Duration: 3 minutes, 12 seconds.

This arrangement is created for ease of reading large print notes (modified stave notation). The notes, staff, and all elements are proportionately enlarged to 2 or 2.5 times the size of regular sheet music. This size is what the majority of our low-vision musicians have requested. You will find that some pages have 2 measures on a line, some have 3 or 4. This variation depends on the number of notes in each measure, as well as the difficulty of each individual passage. For example, if a measure has only a few notes, or a tie, that measure will be less spacious than a measure with many notes or challenging fingerings or other passages that would be made easier by roomier note spacing. The goal of our large print sheet music is to make the music easier to read, easier to see, and easier to play for the majority of musicians. There are many reasons why musicians look for large print music. They may be a low-vision musician, or they may have good vision, but be performing in a low light environment. Sometimes, music teachers select our large print music arrangements for students who are new to reading music.
