Slowly it grew in me, to a draft version. Then, I moved to another country, and for almost 11 years I didn't have access to a piano or full length keyboard, so it lay waiting in my heart all that time, until recently, sitting at my new digital piano, the sound came forth. It is the sound of the darkness of battle, of Jesus wrestling the keys back from the devil in that one decisive blow on the cross, and then the exuberance of victory, and the cry, It is finished.

It is in the guitar friendly key of A minor and can be played as solo piece or used to accompany a singer. The arrangement starts with a four measure intro before going to the melody. The theme is repeated with some little variations in the second page. The chords symbols are added on the first page so you can make your own picking patterns while accompanying. This version is in standard notation and tab. I hope this arrangement is usefull for you or your students, I didn't include any dynamics because I think that by following the melody the dynamics will flow out of your guitar by itself. But you could start the intro pianissimo, gliding smoothly into the theme. Enjoy!

It was composed over an intensive four-day period in the summer of 2020 during a momentary lull in the Covid pandemic, as a result I think that there is a sense of isolation about the music. The recording came later in 2021 shortly after 'freedom day' in the UK.  Performed here by 9 players - as a result of the lockdowns I didn't have access to a symphonic string orchestra and certainly couldn't afford to pay one either!
