During Malaysia's third Covid-19 Lockdown, in January 2021, I composed a short piece for solo trombone each day for 14 days, performing them each evening in an online stream from my apartment balcony. This work fleshes out the themes from Lockdown Miniatures #1 and #4. The first two themes, from Lockdown Miniatures #1 (subtitled Here We Go Again), reflect the angst and uncertainty of beginning yet another lockdown — with all businesses once again closed, police roadblocks preventing movement beyond the neighborhood, and all human contact reduced to a small screen. The third theme, from Lockdown Miniatures #4 (subtitled Loss), is meant to express the raw emotion associated with losing loved ones over the previous ten months. This piece was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Miran Vaupotic, on 26 February 2022 as part of a project by Parma Recordings. The album, titled Sparks: Eye of London, was released in October 2022 on Navona Records.

Machine Echo has been in the making for a couple of years, it was the first song that I created that I could say, a song, it has been one that I can play over and over, I even presented it to others of great standing, look I can create music, but I am not sure if then, can compare with where I am at now. The length of the sheet music is 6-10 minutes depending on how you play it. The MP3 Clip previewing the sheet music, this song, I played it for about 10 minutes. The YouTube video is about 10 minutes as well.

First of May is a song by the Bee Gees with lead vocals by Barry Gibb, released as a single from their 1969 double album Odessa. The song was first recorded in Atlantic Studios in New York and was continued in IBC Studios, London. Barry said in the booklet with Tales from the Brothers Gibb that the title of the song came from the birthday of his dog, Barnaby. Maurice recalled the session in which that song came about. Barry and I were sitting at the piano, he said, And I started playing the chords, and Barry started singing, 'When I was small and Christmas trees were tall' and I started singing along with it. We put a demo down with a vocal and we kept the piano track. Went back to England, and went into IBC Studios in London, added onto that piano track and Barry's vocal stayed on as well. We had a choir and an orchestra all on this one piano. This song was initially taped in demo form in New York City on 16 August 1968.The orchestral arrangement from maestro Bill Shepherd was featured on the second chorus. The song starts with a piano on the first verse and chorus. Shepherd's orchestra was featured in second verse and second chorus. After singing the second chorus, the singer repeated the first verse. The music was stopped when he sings don't ask me why, but time has passed us by, Someone else moved in from far away.It was quite a challenge to arrange such subtle music for a brass quintet. I am very pleased with the result though. Enjoy!

This area reminded me of the French Quarter in New Orleans architecturally. It is well known for its dining and nightlife scene with cocktail lounges, rooftop bars, and global restaurants. Approaching this song musically, I connected with the music of the old dance halls of Cuba. The music is definitely old school Latin. I felt like I was channeling that type of music with this song.The Panama Piano album was released on July 10, 2020.

It was inspired by a pelican that I videoed when I was walking along the Amador Causeway in Panama City. That pelican inspired this song. I watched as he flew and dove for fish. He made it look so easy. This song reminds me of Satie's Gymnopedie because of its simplicity and waltz feel. The Panama Piano album was released on July 10, 2020.
