Large Ensemble Bells,Boomwhackers,Handbell,Handchime,Voice,Xylophone - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.565251 By Sharon Wilson. By Various. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. 20th Century,Children,Folk,Instructional,Traditional. Score and parts. 176 pages. Sharon Wilson #3626293. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565251). This sheet music collection of 20 folk songs is notated for 13-note (one octave, C to C chromatic scale) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating an instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument). Handbells play the melody while the Boomwhackers® keep a steady beat with three-note chords. For each song, there is a combined score with both parts on a grand staff plus a separate 1-staff score for each individual part. A note and chord reference chart is also provided for each song. The songs in this digital book are ordered by difficulty with the easiest songs presented first. The songs progressively incorporate more challenging rhythms, some requiring rapid chord changes. Many of the songs include two verses. The first verse is “easy†with fewer notes. The second verse is “intermediate†and expands the melody by adding more notes (sometimes including harmony notes). If you want to learn (practice) only the “easy†verse, an optional ending is provided or it can be skipped to perform the two verses together. This set of scores uses black and white noteheads and is best suited for musicians already familiar with reading standard music notation. For beginning musicians, this same set of scores is available (sold separately) with color coded noteheads. Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter and eighth rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure. Lyrics and chord names are provided as well to aid in the learning and teaching of this song. The number of ringers and whackers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. Instrument assignment suggestions are provided for each song. Each of the 20 arrangements in this collection is also available separately with accompanying preview pages and audio samples. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1420548 By Ella Fitzgerald. By Lorenz Hart and Richard Rodgers. Arranged by Dave Gingras and John E. Dosher. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show. Score. 4 pages. DAVID LEE GINGRAS #1001981. Published by DAVID LEE GINGRAS (A0.1420548). Lover is a popular song composed by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Lorenz Hart. It was sung in the movie Love Me Tonight (1932) by Jeanette MacDonald.  Popular recordings in 1933 were by Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra (vocal by Jack Fulton), Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians, and Greta Keller. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. Most of the available arrangements of this classic tune are in 3/4 time, but the Ella Fitzgerald version is in 4/4 time, so John and I decided to create this version in 4/4 time. We also added what we think are some pretty cool left-hand fills that we hope you will like! It's a fun song and not too hard to play!

Brass Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792338 Composed by Wolking, Henryenry. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Ragtime. Score and parts. 56 pages. Gordon Cherry #4804655. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792338). As an adult I occasionally try to remember and or capture child-like experiences-maybe not so much the actual event, but the emotive atmosphere left from impressions long ago embedded in the psyche. Each movement of this work is based on spontaneous and uncalculated musical imagery of dreams and childhood reflections. I have deliberately avoided the professional composer’s bag of developmental tricks and worked for a more free flow of simple melodic ideas: they go wherever they want.Movement IInspired by the feelings I had growing up on Merritt Island Florida with my older sister Barbara. This music was a gift to her on the occasion of her 2004 marriage in Flemington New Jersey. It was originally scored for a brass quartet with which I performed. I have written three other brass quintets, and when I started thinking about this one (my fourth) this seemed like a logical choice for a first movement.Movement IIBased on a tune that came to me in a dream. It is dedicated to my wife Lois (we also married in 2004) and has a formal title of Wake Up To A Melody. I originally scored it for jazz band-more specifically for the excellent Salt Lake Alternative Jazz Orchestra, and it has recently been recorded by that group. I like the simplicity of this melody, and felt it would make a natural second movement for this brass quintet.Movement IIIThe third and most difficult movement is Tangoragrondo. It is literally a rondo with a turn-of-the century (19th-20th) ragtime melody/gallop occupying the A theme followed by a Tango (inspired by trips to Santiago Chile) for the B theme. The return to the rag (A theme) is then followed by a fantasy development (C area) with a return to to the rag (A theme) followed by a coda that recalls material from the first movement. The form is quite simple- ABACA-Coda.The material was originally developed as a movement for my double concerto Letting Midnight Out On Bail written for the Duehlmeier-Gritton piano duo and orchestra. It was recorded by the Warsaw Philharmonic and has been released on CD. A second version for two pianos has also been recorded and released by the Duehlmeier-Gritton piano duo. This orchestration for brass quintet will be the final resting place for this chaotic rondo.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.994950 Composed by Andrew Sheldon. A Cappella,Blues,Jazz. Score and parts. 76 pages. Andrew Sheldon #4887097. Published by Andrew Sheldon (A0.994950). This blues tune is an original tune for Lab III at The University of Northern Colorado. This tune is an Opus 1, as an introduction into UNC's storied jazz program. It was premiered November 5th, 2019 at UNC's University Center. This chart features alto, tenor, and bass solos throughout the chart as well as acapella sax and brass sections as well. Rooftop accents are meant to be kept fat and unclipped. It is important to keep musical momentum in acapella sections, as to keep the time with a lack of rhythm section. This is a fun one for the whole band! I hope you enjoy!

Accordion - Digital Download SKU: A0.822476 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Julia Gordon. Celtic,Folk,World. Score. 4 pages. Julia Gordon #2859107. Published by Julia Gordon (A0.822476). Three Scottish airs arranged for accordion.  Full RH and LH notation, tempo directions and suggested couplers.Suitable for self-improvers and teaching accordion.Historical Notes:Kirkconnel Lea  Also known as Helen of Kirkconnel, Fair Helen and (I Wish I Were) Where Helen Lies.  This well known Scottish ballad is about the tragic death in the 16th Century, of Helen Irving who, intervening in a quarrel between two rival admirers receives a fatal wound as a result. The air itself is believed to be much older. The Fower Maries  This ballad, also known as The Four Marys, Mary Hamilton and The Queen’s Marys, dates from the 18th Century and is believed to be a hybrid of two stories - one taking place at the court of Mary Queen of Scots and the other at the court of Peter The Great, Tsar of Russia - both concerning a handmaiden who was executed for the murder of her illegitimate child.Sound The Pibroch  This is a traditional Jacobite song to which words were added by Mrs Norman MacLeod, senior, in the 19th Century.

Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Mandolin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1017671 Composed by Turlough Ó Carolan. Arranged by Gordon Jackson. Baroque,Celtic,Classical,Folk,World. Score and parts. 6 pages. Gordon Jackson #6434339. Published by Gordon Jackson (A0.1017671). Carolan’s DraughtTurlough Ó Carolan (1670-1738) was an Irish harper and composer. Carolan’s music does not sit comfortably in any one particular musical tradition. He was the product of a long line of Irish harpers dating from medieval times or before. He was also aware of Irish folk music, with many of his tunes having a ‘trad’ quality, particularly in his jig-like compositions. Finally, Carolan was influenced by the music of Italian Baroque composers, whose music he would have heard played at the great houses he visited. Carolan’s Draught is an example of the latter.Carolan’s Draught is a lively tune equally at home in folk concerts and sessions, early music performances, schools, weddings and I have also used it as a learning piece with my mandolin and mandola students.I have composed a counterpoint and a bass part. My arrangement has the tune played three times through: first, the basic melody is played on its own; second, with the counterpoint; third, with the bass part added. This arrangement is completely flexible. The parts can be played on almost any instrument and in different octaves. Have fun with it!

The short mesure off my Lady Wynkfylds rowndeIn English Keyboard Music Before the Nineteenth Century John Caldwell writes: ‘There can be little doubt that this music was intended for performance at the court of Henry VIII.’ Caldwell goes on to say that this tune may have been composed by Hugh Aston (born c1485 – buried 17 November 1558, so presumably – we would hope – he died a short time before that). It's a pretty tune to which I’ve composed a counterpoint. I’ve also added chord names for those who want them.

French Horn Duet Horn - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1445963 Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Thomas Jostlein. 19th Century,Romantic Period. Score. 55 pages. Gordon Cherry #1025785. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1445963). Brahms Symphony No. 4 in E minor for Two Horns has been lovingly arranged by Thomas Jostlein. This great work has never been arranged for such a small group before but Mr. Jostlein explains it this way:This arrangement of the Brahms Symphony No. 4 , began with my arranging the third movement of Symphony No. 3, completed in 1996 as a gift to my wife, Tricia, also a horn player. I decided to arrange the other movements, with Gordon Cherry's helpful encouragement. Now I have completed Symphony No. 3, also for two horns. While a reduction of such a large orchestral work for a pair of horns may seem trivial or silly, it works beautifully, revealing Brahms' masterful harmonic, melodic, contrapuntal, and tone-color artistry. It is hoped that horn players use this arrangement as a means of discovering these great qualities of Brahms, rather than as a performance piece. Have fun!

Published by Rebemolo Publishing (A0.1514790). DIES PACIS quotes the theme of DIES IRAE 'the day of wrath.' This musical subject is associated with death and melancholy. DIES PACIS is dedicated to the memory of Gordon Francis Blaney, Jr. He was a multi-instrumentalist and Berklee alum. We met through a variety of Facebook groups devoted to music composition and orchestration. He had mental health issues, autism, and epilepsy. Gordon died tragically in a car accident in 2020, at the age of 37. Gordon and I would talk about music, mental health, and spirituality on a regular basis. One of my spiritual views is that death is a form of relief from pain, similar to serenity or peace. (In Latin, PACIS.) Gordon's life was cut short, as evidenced by the unresolved music over notes G, F, and B (Gordon's initials).

Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792092 Composed by Stewart, Billy. Contemporary. Score and parts. 4 pages. Gordon Cherry #3420749. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792092). The composer's description of this fascinating, expressive and unique work: I wrote this piece after being inspired by the poem 'Colours' by Yevgeny Yevtushenko, an older contemporary poet who was of Russian heritage [recently deceased]. This coincided - of course - with the loss of my 'heart's desire'. I wrote one melodic note for each syllable of the English translation of the text. I came up with the melody in the left hand of the piano with right hand playing chords/lines above it. I re-wrote the chordal parts for the guitar [my true instrument] with the idea of a low voice singing the words below the guitar part. It seems the melody was not singable! However, I did not want to change it- I thought the melody was exactly as it should be. This work is about 3 minutes in length and appropriate for advanced performers.

Trombone Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1076363 Composed by Ben van Dijk. Instructional. Individual part. 108 pages. Gordon Cherry #680517. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1076363). This new 4th edition of Ben van Dijk's book Ben's Basics - Method for Bass Trombone / Tenor Trombone with F attachment is now available from Cherry Classics Music. Below are Ben's thoughts about the book, which is a culmination of ideas from his years as one of the great pedagogs of the Trombone. In this book, I’d like to give you some guidance in various areas of trombone playing. Of course, there are many more topics one could address, but I have focused on three areas in this book. 1. Breathing 2. Daily Routines 3. Warm-up It is my hope to give you some perspective and direction, but it is definitely not my idea to make you dependent on this book. On the contrary, I hope to encourage you to look for ideas yourself and be as inventive as possible. Most of my ideas come from many years of playing and teaching combined with all the wonderful contacts I have had with different experts on these matters during my career. It’s a combination of the ideas which have helped me to come to where I am right now. They also have proven to be of value to many of my students. During many of the master classes I have given in the past years, students and colleagues have asked me to write down my ideas and bundle them into a book.

Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.810983 Composed by Cherry Classics Music. Arranged by John, W., and Ware. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 63 pages. Gordon Cherry #4601711. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810983). This fine work has sat dormant for many years and has now come to light thanks to the efforts of Charlie Vernon, Bass Trombonist of the Chicago Symphony, who performed this virtuoso work as a young performer. The concerto is in the standard three movement form: Fast, slow, fast. This publication is a reduction from the original orchestral version (to be released at some point in the future). Here is a description of the Concerto by the composer, John W. Ware. I started on the trombone concerto in my junior year studying composition at Indiana University.  While working on it, I learned of an opportunity to make it sort of a thesis piece (though students didn't write a thesis in composition while an undergrad).  The original version was for trombone with string orchestra, and it was performed by the IU String Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Arthur Corra, with Robert Priez, trombone, as part of my senior composition recital.  I thought the performance was quite good (Priez played extraordinarily well), and the piece received a newspaper review in the Indiana Daily Student, in which the reviewer wrote that the work was almost too exciting.  I thought at the time that he had given me and my music a fine compliment.  I made a piano version of the accompaniment, shortening and tightening the first movement, for performances in 1966; I made a second revision in 1967 for a performance by E. J. Eaton, trombonist at the University of Tennessee at Martin, arriving at the form in which the work exists now. The first movement is in fairly normal sonata-allegro form, in the key of A minor.  It alternates between assertive and more thoughtful moods.   There is no introduction; the soloist enters immediately and dominates much of the movement. The main theme is--by some manipulation--a source for most of the other themes, and all of the themes are used in close proximity to each other, including contrapuntal combinations, especially near the end.  Originally the movement included a lengthy fugato, now much shortened and including a stretto that builds and subsides before a cadenza leading to a coda based on both the principal and secondary themes.  Key relations in this movement, as in the other two, are quite free and often chromatic, with frequent third-relations; but returns to the tonic at the end are emphatic.  The writing is challenging for both soloist and accompanist; the piece is substantial, requiring technique and stamina. The second movement is in F minor and is also built on both contrast and close relationships between the main and secondary themes.  The main theme is heard in the piano part before the soloist enters.  The mood is more lyric than in the first movement, but with dramatic episodes also.  In this movement are some definite derivations from themes in the first movement.  The ending is a sort of lengthened shadow of the opening. The finale returns to A minor, with themes slightly related to polonaise rhythms, but with strong echoes of first-movement themes.  Here, too, dramatic and lyric episodes alternate, with dotted rhythms frequently propelling the music forward.  The introduction is a brief and simple preparation for the solo entry.  Later in the movement, a very brief, slightly slower section is soon overtaken by the original tempo.  Toward the end, there is a second cadenza, again leading to a swift and energetic coda. The work is about 20 minutes in length and is appropriate for advanced performers.

Trombone Quartet Bass Trombone,Euphonium - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1347507 By The Beatles. By Bobby Scott and Ric Marlow. Arranged by Pete Thompson. Chamber,Pop,Rock,Standards,Traditional. 8 pages. Pete Thompson #932316. Published by Pete Thompson (A0.1347507). A Taste of Honey has been done in numerous different ways.  In this arrangement, I try to straddle that line between the super upbeat version done by some and the slow melodic version done by the Beatles.   The arrangement features the Bass trombone at the beginning and end; almost every part gets a chance at the melody.  Lovely and haunting, this trombone quartet will fit almost any occasion.
