I adore folk music, particularly from the era of the 1960s and 1970s, and I love programming it alongside classical repertoire. You may be familiar with this Bob Dylan song, or perhaps the popular Joan Baez cover; it was Baez's version that I first heard, and I was immediately struck by the juxtaposition of the sweetly lilting vocal line (and gently strumming guitar accompaniment) with the apocalyptic text. The words, while strange and surreal, seemed to perfectly depict the sense of unrest and violence that fills our world today. The intimacy of the repeated farewells to a loved one while the world literally falls apart feels especially poignant; the almost absurd contrast between lines like I'll see you in a while and the sky is falling reminds me of the feeling of wanting to draw inward and deny the frightening things happening around us while also being unable to ignore them. I began imagining what the music would sound like if it reflected the sense of chaos and destruction of Dylan's poetry, and commissioned Melissa Dunphy to compose such an arrangement for voice and viola.

Vivace For Violin And Hornfor the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry

I was so impressed while listening to some of the wonderful recordings of Elmira Darvarova on the violin and Howard Wall on the Horn. 

It inspired me to finish a duet that toke birth back in the times when I started playing violin. 

Now after 40 years I guess it is ready!!!

I am very grateful for their inspiration.

It is dedicated to - „Elmira and Howard

The piece requires high skilled and experienced artists.

I have used some interpretation symbols to suggest an interpretation and of course I tried to manipulate the audio file. I did very little Bowing. I prefer to leave it to your own interpretation, creativity, or school demands or preferences.

Feel free to experience your own bowing and interpretation. Remember that as an artist you can perform as it pleases you better. 

The score was written on Finale. 

The sound file For the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry, was performed with samplers from Garritan and conceived as an audio support for the presentation of the score.

This is the first time that this version is published in Sheet Music Plus or anywhere else!

I look at my last flower

It loses its scentand I do not know what to do

a witch and a wolf

and starts this magical storysweet

as ancient fable

in a forest with no place and no age

out of touch

 

and the time is stopped and does not move a breath

and the heart, explodes and skip a beat

and look you recognize

like not having never lost

 

and the wolf that is injured

a white rose in red has turned

He is bleeding along with drops of pain

his red eyes burning with love

 

and the witch instead hides

because she isn't beautiful and it is not important

nobody in the world has never belonged

and a caress he never touched

 

she care and caresses the soul

he looks at her and his anger dominates

and one year only lasts a moment

lost in eternity

 

and the wolf tells tales

and the witch makes magic potions

and exchange promises useless

that the night  guard

This is the lullaby that I wrote for my first-born niece when she was a baby. It was composed specifically for guitar, and this copy comes complete with guitar tab as well as traditional notation. I've used an interesting tuning combination for the piece, which is why it also comes with tab, to make everything clearer. Both of the E strings are tuned up by 1 semitone to F, and the B string is de-tuned by 1 semitone to Bb. The resulting sound is pleasant, and unlike most other music out there on the classical guitar market, making it a lovely little piece to learn - and of course to serenade an infant with! It's approximately Grade 4 in standard (ABRSM), so the tuning doesn't make the piece any more difficult to play, and of course, the tab is there to make it crystal clear during the learning process how it is to be played. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did writing it. Please do take a look at another of my classical guitar compositions, Summer Sunset, which would work really well with Holly's Lullaby as a pair. Thank you for your interest in my music.  .

I found this Passacaglia from Bach among some of my own handwritten manuscripts. It is a phenomenal piece.

Bach was definitive a great artist, a Genius.

Passacaglia is an Italian word. This music form was originated in early 17th-century Spain as a strummed interlude between instrumentally accompanied dances or songs. In this piece we can clearly experience this „Spanish strumming between „Bars 137 and 145.

The passacaglia was redefined in the late 1620s by Italian composer Girolamo Frescobaldi, who transformed it into a series of continuous variations over an ostinato bass pattern (which itself may be varied).

I added to this piece some interpretation symbols and rearranged it for the harp but every single note was left as it would be found in the original version. 

The piece is appropriate for advanced performers.

Most of the score is left to the interpretation of the artists involved, particularly the use of fingering. 

The piece is difficult but very Human. It requires focused endurance and some practice on certain passages. 

Once learned you will also be playing much better. 

Feel Free to apply in this piece the Art and technic that expresses entirely your individual skills and taste.

It is a piece that can be used in many different kinds of situations, from a serious concert hall to a marriage, it is perfect for Christmas celebrations and all other kinds of Spiritual events.

When performed Live It will give you back a great  feedback from the public, you will always want to have it in your repertoire.

In the mid 1960s, Roy Castle had a series of variety shows on BBC Television and Arthur Wilkinson was his musical director. On one of the shows, the celebrity guest was ballet star Doreen Wells who asked if she could dance to music of the Beatles. It fell to Wilkinson to arrange some of the hit songs for use by a ballerina. He hit on the idea of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite as a model; it was so popular that further movements were added for an EP recording and the complete Beatlecracker Suite is the result. The EP was issued throughout the world and was to be followed by an album if it did well enough, but it appears there was none.
