Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1125799 By Michael Swedberg. By Jean Baptiste Calkin. Arranged by Terrence Niska. Christmas,Contemporary,Holiday. Score. 8 pages. Niska Music Publishing #726539. Published by Niska Music Publishing (A0.1125799). I must admit that I was far more familiar with the 1956 setting of this poem as sung by Bing Crosby to music by Johnny Marks than I was to the one found in many hymnals. It was on several of the Christmas albums that would be played on the phonograph in our house during the holiday season. However, I chose to arrange the carol setting for this collection as it resonated more deeply with me and seemed to better capture the essence of the poem by Longfellow. He wrote it during the Civil War, on Christmas Day of 1863, and several of the verses make reference to the war. While I did not set any of the Civil War verses, there is an almost martial quality to the opening music and one can almost hear the brass choir ringing out in the first verse. With each subsequent verse, the rhythm of the right hand becomes quicker, moving from half notes to quarter note triplets to eighth notes and finally to eighth note triplets in the final verse. For the most part, the left hand maintains the steady beat of quarter notes, with the exception of the final verse where it begins to move in eighth notes setting up a two-against-three pattern between the hands. It is the most jubilant of the verses and feels like an explosion of sound as the bells ring out across all the land proclaiming God is not dead, nor doth He sleep; The Wrong shall fail, The Right prevail, With peace on earth, good-will to men..

Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1313790 By Ron k Wiggins. By Gerald Moultie. Arranged by Ron k Wiggins. Christian,Christmas,Classical,Religious. Guitar Tab. 2 pages. WigMusic #902505. Published by WigMusic (A0.1313790). The words to “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence†is based on the Old Testament book of “Habakkuk 2:20 and became part of the “Divine Liturgy of St James†in the fifth century and was chanted.  The melody had its origins by Gerald Moultie 1829-1885 who based it on a medieval French folk melody called Picardy. There have been other translations and arrangements, most notably by Ralph Vaughan Williams 1872-1958.This relatively easy arrangement for Classical Guitar is first in D minor with the melody in the treble and then a very creative version with the melody in the Bass.  It wraps up in E minor with a lot of open strings and going all the way up to the 12th fret.  The overall result is beautiful and if you can play the basic “F†type bar chord it is not real difficult to play.Note that the YouTube video has a slightly different arrangement (actually a performance error) but I doubt you can find it.  The audio file provided here is correct.

3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 octaves handbells - Level 3+ - Digital Download SKU: C7.CGB979 Psalm 23. Composed by Alex Guebert. Arranged by Alex Guebert. General, Estertide. With Flute. Score. 12 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGB979. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGB979). UPC: 749193024553.Uplifting and sweet, this arrangement of The Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want (BROTHER JAMES’ AIR) makes use of stirring crescendos and orchestral-sounding sweeping musical lines.  The quiet waters of the Psalm 23 text are reflected in the shimmering, peaceful first verse.  The second verse gains momentum (My soul He doth restore again) and the powerful crescendo into the third verse brings a confident sense of peace (Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale / yet will I fear no ill).  At the final cadence, ethereal, unusual harmonies give way to a serene resolution, symbolizing heaven as a final resting place, calling to mind the last lines of the text: and in God’s house forevermore / my dwelling place shall be.  The optional flute part sweetens the lovely soft sections and adds flourish and weight to the majestic third verse and coda.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.1000877 Composed by Traditional Spiritual. Arranged by Charles Griffin. 20th Century,Blues,Contemporary,Spiritual. Octavo. 11 pages. Coriolis Press #5989585. Published by Coriolis Press (A0.1000877). SATB with piano accompaniment and shakerca. 2'25 durationThis toe-tapping arrangement is based on a lesser-known traditional African American Spiritual melody that I fell in love with immediately upon encountering it. The arrangement is accessible to good high school choirs and average college/university groups and is sure to please all audiences. The shaker part can easily be taken up by a non-percussionist from within the choir.Wonder where is my brother gone?Wonder where is my brother John?He is gone in the wilderness,Ain't comin' no more.Wonder where will I lie down?Wonder where will I lie down?In some lonesome place, Lord,Down on the ground.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1311927 Composed by Jill Jackson and Sy Miller. Arranged by Thomas Gunther. Christmas,Holiday,Spiritual. Score. 4 pages. Thomas Gunther Music Productions #900801. Published by Thomas Gunther Music Productions (A0.1311927). About the song and the arrangementThis is my solo piano arrangement of Let There Be Peace On Earth, one of the most powerful songs about peace ever written. I arranged it with the intermediate piano player in mind. Although is not particularly jazzy, it includes some jazz harmony and voicings. I think its beautiful melody benefits from clean voicings and an almost classical accompaniment style. Having said that, I included chord symbols so that jazz pianists can do their thing.I recommend to everyone who wants to learn it to also study the lyrics (who I didn't include with the sheet music, because it is after all a solo piano arrangement. Knowing the words will undoubtedly help with interpreting the music more adequately from an emotional point of view.About the technical aspects of this arrangementAlthough the arrangement sounds simple,  it poses several challenges. For example, it has a polyphonic element to it which requires the pianist to use the sustain pedal and make smart fingering choices. For this reason I included my suggestions for both. Please feel free to use your own.FeelThe arrangement is meant to be played very expressively. I suggest you vary the tempo and dynamics. Bringing out the melody is also very important. At last, I hope you will enjoy playing my arrangement and consider including it in your recitals. The call for peace is never a waste.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802647 By Bee Gees. By Barry Gibb, Maurice Gibb, and Robin Gibb. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Dance,Disco. Score and parts. 23 pages. Peet du Toit #6197563. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802647). I've Gotta Get a Message to You is a song by the Bee Gees. Released as a single on 7 September 1968, it was their second number-one single on the UK Singles Chart and their first US Top 10 hit.The song is about a man who, awaiting his execution in the electric chair, begs the prison chaplain to pass a final message on to his wife. Robin Gibb, who wrote the lyrics, said that the man's crime was the murder of his wife's lover, though the lyrics do not explicitly allude to the identity of the victim. Robin said, This is about a prisoner on Death Row who only has a few hours to live. He wants the prison chaplain to pass on a final message to his wife. There's a certain urgency about it. Myself and Barry wrote it. It's a bit like writing a script. Sometimes you can sit there for three hours with your guitar and nothing will happen. Then in the last ten minutes something will spark. The song was written with Percy Sledge in mind to record it. Sledge did record it in February 1970 but Atlantic did not issue his version in the United States at the time.Barry recalled, In those days, the lyrics were almost pretty well done on the spot. I don't remember the fundamentals on how the lyrics were formed, except that we were writing about a guy on death row. That was it.Robin adds:It was like acting, you see, we said, let's pretend that somebody, his life is on the line, somebody's going to the chair. What would be going through their mind? Let's not make it doom and gloom but sort of an appeal to the person he loves. Because right now that's all he cares about. Regardless of whether he's done a bad thing, he is a human being, and he's sending out this last message. There's someone out there whom he loves. It's a torch song, but within a very sort of theatrical sense. Not sort of abstract, but definitely somebody in a very bad situation whose life is going to end. What would they be saying, you know? This is it: 'Gotta get a message to you, hold on.Revive this hit on your brass instruments and enjoy!
