However, the voices often alternate, especially when they move in eighth notes. When the voices do play at the same time, at least one has quarter notes. ~ Except for the more somber, perhaps more intense, middle section, this waltz needs to sway and smile.

Its constant arpeggiation and its basic melody combine for a clear yet luminescent effect. Our edition uses a 2/4 time signature, so that each measure has been divided in half, to provide for more clarity about accidentals, to insure there are NO clef changes in the middle of a measure, and to use metric groupings, especially in the left-hand, that are not 7's and five, but 2's and threes, which are much more familiar to the average player, for who ALL our editions are intended. A 7 can usually be broken into a 4 and a 3, and a five into a two and a three, avoiding the need to mentally or sonically integrate all these odd sets under a duple melody. The piece has its tempo mark at a conservative place, but could go faster should the player achieve that. The final set of arpeggios is reset for better hand-to-hand clarity. MBB.
