This is an easy harp arrangement of Wake Me Up When September Comes by Green Day.  It features a simplified melody line for the right hand and broken chords in the left hand.  Chord symbols also included for improvisation.  Can be adapted for smaller harps - simply play in a different octave.  There is ONE lever change on the C minor chord.  You can flip the lever down on the E to get the E-flat if your harp is tuned in E-flat, then flip it back up in the next measure.  If you prefer not to flip levers, simply leave out the E in that chord entirely.  Harps with no levers? Just play a C and a G on that C minor chord, and leave out the E/E-flat.

The piece begins with the solo tenor and piano, in which the tenor plays the part of the night watchman and expresses longing for the light, and anguish at the condition of the people in the darkness. The tenor solo ends with the words Why have you forsaken us? The choir then enters a cappella (in performance, the choir can be doubled on organ using soft strings if necessary--it's difficult for the choir to get its starting pitches), and a soaring solo soprano provides the answer: the Light has come, but more than that, You were never alone; you are never alone; you will never be alone. One staging idea for this piece is to have the solo tenor up front, and the choir and soprano unseen in the rear, especially if there is a rear balcony that will hold the choir. However it is staged, this piece provides worshipers with a powerful and unforgettable reassurance that they do not face their darkest hours alone. Originally written for a four-part chorus accompanied by a small orchestra, this selection has been arranged for 5 Euphoniums, by Regis Bookshar, without losing any of the vitality of the original version. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement will entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come. It is perfect for Christmas concerts and church services, is suitable for high school, college and professional performers and is one of my all-time favorite arrangements. Included are a score and a complete set of parts, written in Bass Clef (20 pages). Also available is a version written in Treble Clef if you would prefer. Handel's original version is written in the key of Concert G but this version is written in the key of Concert F, to make it a little easier for some younger performers. However, this arrangement may still prove to be a challenge for some players. Other versions of this selection, in both the keys of Concert F and the original key of Concert G, are available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. If you are considering having an organist or other keyboard player perform with this selection, I would suggest that you purchase the version in Concert G rather than the one in Concert F.
