My challenge when writing this piece was to incorporate two different dance styles, and I immediately decided it was time to face the disco music of my childhood. Yes, I had the Bee Gees on LP when I was a kid.…and ABBA…but I left them out of this piece.Obviously, this is meant to be fun. There are direct (if not always obvious) quotations to the following songs:              Anita Ward’s “Ring My Bell�              “Night Fever� by the Bee Gees              Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive� (Just had to be included)              Lipps Inc’s “Funktown�              and “Boogie Nights� from HeatwaveThe ancient dance form known as the pavane is, weirdly enough, the perfect pairing with the disco…in that their rhythmic structures easily go together, allowing me to spread the disco material around throughout the piece. In fact, the references to “I Will Survive� are in the slower pavane section, not the disco.The piece is basic A-B-A form (Disco-Pavane-Disco) with a fadeout ending…because in all my research I don’t remember finding a single disco piece that didn’t have a fadeout ending. It just wasn’t done. Please have some fun listening to this piece, because I had a great time writing it. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever written..pdf contains a complete set of score and parts. Published by Erik Cole (A0.996139). A double reed transcription of the Dance of the Hours from La Gioconda, made famous by Disney's Fantasia. The Night section has been cut, as it's the least famous and included many string techniques that weren't very practical for winds to mimic, but it is otherwise true to the original. The 3rd parts are significantly easier than the others, but it is a challenging piece to take up to tempo, regardless. All oboe and bassoon parts are divisi. I was pleasantly surprised at how well almost all of it worked, especially after lowering the key to an easier C/F major which suits the oboe/bassoon range much better. The numerous rubatos/tempo changes were tough to accurately portray in a multi-track recording done to a click track, but I thought it generally came out well without too many inconsistencies. It's a very fun piece to play if your group is up to the challenge.

I arranged it to sound much different than the typical vocal performances I've been exposed to, which seem to carry many of the same characteristics and embellishments across the board. For the longest time, I disliked this anthem, due to how I often heard it, but after singing it in four-part harmony with some friends I realized that it was actually a good piece that had a lot of potential if I ever wanted to arrange it. The next year I did just that, and I hope this offers an alternative concept of how this anthem can sound compared with the normal way it seems to be performed.~Sola Deo Gloria

I have arranged it for lever harp. l I have added all fingering and dynamics. The difficulty is around grade 2 to 4 level. It needs a lever change while playing and the lever needs to be changed back quickly. It also shows some sliding, so 1-1 fingering. But fingering is always optional so if you or your teacher don't like it, change it.  The key is G-major so you need to have an F sharp lever, and a C sharp lever for the lever change. You can use it for piano as well.(with different fingering).

It has become a jazz standard.It is also known as Interlude. Gillespie called the tune Interlude and said some genius decided to call it 'Night in Tunisia'. He said the tune was composed at the piano at Kelly's Stables in New York. He gave Frank Paparelli co-writer credit in compensation for some unrelated transcription work, but Paparelli had nothing to do with the song. A Night in Tunisia was one of the signature pieces of Gillespie's bebop big band, and he also played it with his small groups. In January 2004, The Recording Academy added the 1946 Victor recording by Gillespie to the Grammy Hall of Fame.On the album A Night at Birdland Vol. 1, Art Blakey introduced his 1954 cover version with this statement: At this time we'd like to play a tune [that] was written by the famous Dizzy Gillespie. I feel rather close to this tune because I was right there when he composed it in Texas on the bottom of a garbage can. The audience laughs, but Blakey responds, Seriously. The liner notes say, The Texas department of sanitation can take a low bow.The complex ostinato bass line in the A section is notable for avoiding the standard walking bass pattern of straight quarter notes, and the use of oscillating half-step-up/half-step-down chord changes (using the Sub V, a tritone substitute chord for the dominant chord) gives the song a unique, mysterious feeling.
