Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1043121 By Barry Manilow. By Bruce Johnston. Arranged by Kevin Riley. 20th Century,Pop. Score and parts. 57 pages. Kevin Riley #647831. Published by Kevin Riley (A0.1043121). I Write the Songs is a popular song written by Bruce Johnston in 1975 and released on his album Going Public in 1977. Barry Manilow's version reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1976 after spending two weeks atop the Billboard adult contemporary chart in December 1975. It won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year and was nominated for Record of the Year in 1977. Billboard ranked it as the No. 13 song of 1976. The original version was recorded by Captain & Tennille, who worked with Johnston in the early 1970s with the Beach Boys. It appears on their 1975 album Love Will Keep Us Together. The first release of I Write the Songs as a single was by teen idol David Cassidy from his 1975 solo album The Higher They Climb, which was also produced by Johnston. Cassidy's version reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart in August of that year. Johnston has stated that, for him, the I in the song is God, and that songs come from the spirit of creativity in everyone. He has said that the song is not about his Beach Boys bandmate Brian Wilson. Manilow was initially reluctant to record the song, stating in his autobiography Sweet Life: The problem with the song was that if you didn't listen carefully to the lyric, you would think that the singer was singing about himself. It could be misinterpreted as a monumental ego trip.[3] After persuasion by Clive Davis, then president of Arista Records, Manilow recorded the song, and his version of I Write the Songs was the first single taken from the album Tryin' to Get the Feeling. It first charted on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 15, 1975, reaching the top of the chart nine weeks later, on January 17, 1976. Cash Box said of Manilow's version Good work Barry describing the song as melodic, ballad-like beginning grows into an operatic crescendo, all done in clear production that all age groups will appreciate.

Woodwind Ensemble E-Flat Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1194302 By Kevin MacLeod. By Kevin MacLeod. Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. Comedy,Contemporary. 22 pages. Lisa L Ochoco #793677. Published by Lisa L Ochoco (A0.1194302). If you’ve ever seen a funny video on YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, etc., chances are that you’ve heard this tune before…many many times.  It makes cute and funny videos, well, cuter and funnier.Kevin Macleod wrote this cute and funny tune, and it’s written to loop until the video ends.  The longer the video, the higher it goes (I think, although having a cute video last more than 5 minutes may wear you out.)  While I could have modulated it 5 times, I didn’t.  There is one key change, and after that key change, this cute and funny tune goes Radio City Rockette-ish before definitely coming to an end at around the 2 minute mark.Scored for clarinet quartet - 4 Bb or Eb and 3 Bb.This would be a great recital opener, closer, or filler.  Or, you could have a few members of your group act out a cute and funny scene to it.  The possibilities are endless!Duration: 2 minutes.

Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928258 Composed by Vince Clarke. Arranged by Simon James. 20th Century,Pop. Score and parts. 5 pages. DML #5742517. Published by DML (A0.928258). Only You is a song written by English musician Vince Clarke. He wrote it while with Depeche Mode, but recorded it in 1982 after forming the duo Yazoo with Alison Moyet. It was released as Yazoo's first single on 15 March 1982 in the United Kingdom, and became an instant success on the UK singles chart, peaking at number 2. It was released again in 1983 in an a cappella version by the Flying Pickets and became the UK Christmas No 1 that year. Vince Clarke originally wrote the music for the song on a guitar, and transposed the riff into synthesizer notes. This is clear from the chord structure so I have arranged it using a constantly descending bass for the first two verses. For the final verse, to give a sense of drama which is clear from the lyrics, I have switched to a three fingered chord rhythm but kept elements of the descending bass. The little tune on the outro could be sung but if you have a second guitarist could also be played.

Small Ensemble,Strings Harpsichord,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.836700 Composed by Brian Joyce. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 78 pages. Brian Joyce #2881183. Published by Brian Joyce (A0.836700). An 18-minute concerto in three movements for oboe, harpsichord and string quartet. From the program notes . . . .I can imagine readers glancing over a recital program and seeing that it includes a work for oboe, harpsichord and string quartet. They steel themselves against the onset of what promises to be a dull and dreary piece played by unsmiling people in black suits. My imaginary audience may be pleased to find that this Petit Concert is nothing of the sort. It is actually a rather relaxed piece, combining something of the 18th century Rococo (which was never very serious to begin with) and Steely Dan-influenced Hindemith. But just as a chef will hide the most unlikely ingredients in his sauces and confections, I hope I have concealed these disparate influences in a piece which speaks with its own voice. Here, then, is a short concerto with little if any overt virtuosity; it is offered simple for the enjoyment of players and audience alike. In this it perhaps comes round full circle to composers like François Couperin who preferred to please their listeners rather than stun them.Relaxed the piece may be. To be sure, ranges and techniques are far from extreme and there are plenty of triadic sonorities and almost normal functional harmony here. But there are also moments of jazz-inflected chromaticism and frequent meter changes to contend with. It will take players who can hold their own in a mildly dissonant sound world to pull this off. Careful attention to dynamics, tight ensemble and flawless intonation are a must, but diligent players will be rewarded with an immediate audience-pleaser.A separate harpsichord part is included for players who prefer not to read from the score. Equal temperament and a=440 are assumed for the harpsichord. A two manual instrument is preferred but not absolutely necessary.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.984700 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by John M. Honeycutt. Baroque. Score. 8 pages. Music Innovators Workshop #4357045. Published by Music Innovators Workshop (A0.984700). This is a piano arrangement of the Toccata portion of the famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor. It is notated on a key map tablature. Additionally, this wonderful piece has been simplified by removing some notes, but it has not been shortened. In this arrangement, it is still a wonderful piece for those who have not yet gained the skill to play the full piano arrangement. This piece is notated on a vertically oriented tablature called a key map. Key maps are intended to SHOW you (visually) which keys to play by matching (mapping) the locations of the keys on the keyboard. >>> The group of 12 keys from Middle C up to B form what we call the green Octave Group. (There are 7 of these identical groups on the piano distinguished by their colors and locations.) The key map staff is based on an octave group of the keyboard. For each key map octave group, the 5 vertical lines of the staff stand for the 5 matching black KEYS. >>> Staff lines ARE SPACED to match the horizontal spacing of the black keys on the keyboard The notes for black keys are placed ON these staff lines. The notes for the white keys are placed BETWEEN the lines. >>> The notes of a key map move to the left and right to indicate change in PITCH and down the page to indicate the passing of TIME (rhythm). The vertical length of each note is proportional to the time (in beats) that the sound requires. If you want to know more about this beautiful key map notation, you might consider reviewing our article describing how this notation works, entitled: Getting Started With Key Maps for the Piano. It contains an explanation of how key maps work and includes a number of examples. 16 pages. It is promotionally priced at only $1.99. By Grace Chatto, Jack Patterson, James Napier, and Nicole Marshall. Arranged by Timothy Jaques. Contemporary,Pop,Rock. 41 pages. Timothy Jaques #974019. Published by Timothy Jaques (A0.1390492). This arrangement is a great way to involve a soloist or unison choir with a string orchestra playing pop music. It is a good choice for helpijg to break the stereotypes around string groups. It is also an effective showcase piece, and if you're brave enough to add some choreography, it is bound to leave your audience on the edge of their seats! The arrangement is realatively easy and quick to learn, as it is built around a few core rhythmic patterns. There may be a little more effort for beginners, but it is well within their capabilities, and the key of A Minor has been chosen deliberately to be as accessible as possible to both singers and string players.

String Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1095833 Composed by Ronan Bodisch. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and Parts. 5 pages. Ronan Bodisch #699803. Published by Ronan Bodisch (A0.1095833). This intense and emotional piece draws inspiration from classical/romantic composers, such as Edward Elgar, while also mixing in modern elements. Performance Notes: Dissonance is very common in this piece. It will not help the orchestra if the players cower away from it, rather than play it confidently. Don't second-guess whether or not the right notes are being played. Be sensitive to whoever has the moving line, as it is passed around the orchestra. At measure 22, the Violas and Cellos should soar above the violins. At measures 26-30, everyone in the orchestra should be playing as loud as humanly possible (go crazy, go bananas), while still remaining sensitive to the moving melodies; this is the composer's signature theme. Be mindful of the key change at measure 35 (F Maj/D Min to B-Flat Maj/G Min). In the end, Violins, Violas, and Cellos should decrescendo to literally nothing on the tremolos. The basses should emphasize pizzicato, but play it lightly, rather than thunderous. The chords in the Harp and Piano should also be brought out.

Yellow Envelope Publications #865003. Published by Yellow Envelope Publications (A0.1272805). Threshold is meant to portray time slowing down as you approach a black hole due to Gravitational Time Dilation. As such, I took a melody and reworked it in several different time signatures, to allow you to feel it stretch out or shrink, leading to moments where time basically goes out the window with prolonged moments of aleatoric metallic cacophony in the percussion section. Mixed in with the increasing and decreasing time signatures is something loosely resembling a fugue subject in the woodwinds. I’m not sure where it came from, but I love the feeling it gave this piece.By the way, I always thought it would be really cool if, during the end of the piece, the percussion could be spread throughout the performance venue to create a true surround sound experience, playing the aleatoric motive all around the audience.
