In the original key from the LP Chase, this song is a fast, driving piece. One note about this arrangement...I know it's next to impossible to play both the melody and the chords in some parts of this arrangement. I wanted to keep the arrangement as it appears in the record as close as possible. I have a fond memory of this song and am sorry you can't experience this version anymore. I was working in a department store electronics dept the year Quadrophonic music came out. Quad was the precursor to Surround Sound. To stand in the middle of 4 speakers facing you and here the opening riffs of this song bounce from one speaker to the next is an experience that is hard to describe. Brahms composed his piano sonata in F-minor, in 1853, at the age of 20.  Markings in the piano music, such as 'like cello', or in another place 'like pizzicato', suggest he was thinking in orchestral terms.  Indeed, the earliest sketches of his 1st symphony come from the year his sonata in F-minor was published.  Yet he worked at least 14 years on his first symphony, finally publishing it in 1876, at age 43.  What if Brahms had orchestrated his sonata in F-minor, opus 5, publishing it as his first symphony, in his youth, rather than at age 43?  Attempting to answer that, I embarked on a big project, to orchestrate Brahms sonata in F-minor, into a symphony.  And you can listen to it yourself, as the music of Brahms comes shining through, as a symphony that 'might have been'.  Though the instrument choices and dynamics adjustments for orchestra are mine, the music is all Brahms.  See what you think.  This is the 5th movement, the Finale.  The music of Brahms is a long-time favorite of symphony audiences, and this could be a hit with your audience, as well.

Likewise, it appeals even to folks who don’t normally listen to serious music. This is probably because of his most noteworthy melodies. Above all, he writes with great emotion. This certainly makes a most noteworthy if not an unforgettable impact. Education First of all, He attended classes at the Russian Musical Society. Even more, He also attended the St. Petersburg Conservatory. There he studied music theory with Nikolai Zaremba. He also consequently studied composition with Anton Rubenstein. It seems like Rubenstein came under criticism from a group of Russian composers known as the Five. The Five The Five certainly rejected Western musical influences. They rather sought to use elements from Russian music. They furthermore wanted to use more exotic musical materials. Western Techniques More than other Russian composers, Tchaikovsky studied modern Western music. He certainly develops his music like the European masters. So, rather than repeating a motive, he moves to a new key. He then introduces a different theme in the new key. Hence, he maintained his independence from the Five. Even more, he became the first Russian composer of international stature. Influences Tchaikovsky was probably influenced in his ballet scoring by Léo Delibes. Richard Wagner influenced his symphonic writing. Tchaikovsky’s most famous works include the 1812 Overture, The Nutcracker Suite, and Swan Lake. Also famous are the Violin Concerto in D and the six symphonies. The greatest of the six symphonies may be No. 6, the Pathétique. Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a The Nutcracker Suite is a ballet that was performed for the first time in December 1892 in St. Petersburg. To begin with, the original ballet failed to attract a positive reception. However, the ballet suite became probably one of the most popular of all of Tchaikovsky’s works. The ballet suite became even more famous in the 1960s. It is now performed all over the world, particularly during the Christmas season.

It is the second of the Sechs Lieder (Six Songs), published in 1803, which foreshadowed the Art Songs of the Romantic Era. Originally for Voice and Piano, I have arranged it for Instrumental Quartet. My arrangement stays true to Beethoven's intent to capture the passion of the original text in the music. (The texts are all sacred poems by Gellert.) Without the presence of lyrics I needed to create musical interest and interpretation, so I realized inner voices and polyphony out of his original homophonic accompaniment. I added new shape to individual lines, altered phrasing, elaborated rhythms, and in true Beethoven style added more dynamic markings. The mood and meaning are now stunningly portrayed through music alone. Die Liebe, in such a short piece, has chant, homophonic, and polyphonic sections with varied articulations and dynamics as it joyfully proclaims that if you love God you must also love your neighbour.

Whilst it is written with a piano accompaniment in mind, the accompaniment is primarily there to provide rhythm and bulk. As such it can be played without it, provided that the block rests are ignored. Original piece of music composed for a Solo Euphonium player of intermediate experience with a piano accompaniment, ideal for secondary school students or beginner players looking to challenge themselves. Can be played by itself as a standalone performance, for example in a talent or variety show, or as part of a larger programme such as a school concert or brass band performance. The setting for the song in the show is a favorite night spot in which people often have clandestine meetings and the dark interior allows for that, so the song is sung sotto voce for the most part, more whispered, as if everything's a secret. This arrangement maintains that mood with only a few vigorous accents. It is playful and witty and somewhat mischievous. It makes for a good study piece for more advanced intermediate students because of the staccatos all over the keyboard with only isolated pairs of notes played legato for accentuated phrasing. The middle section will help to develop dexterity in rapid finger work. And it's just plain fun to do.

It is not a political commentary, but rather a reflection on the three stages that often take place during the negotiation process. The first movement Bombastic is filled with syncopation, loud dynamics, and strong articulation. It is at a fast tempo. Each instrument presents its point of view with different motivic material. The trombone hammers away at making its point through fast repeated notes and both instruments repeat their motives frequently in an argumentative manner. The second movement Compromise is at a slow tempo and is imitative. The imitation varies in some degree as each side makes small adjustments to what the other side has said. Sometimes the imitation is through alternating phrases and other times it is more canonic. Accord is the title of the third movement. This movement proceeds as if the two instruments are one with the trombone stating the agreement and the harp supporting the trombone. Tweaks are still being made as slight variations occur as the material repeats, but the sense of accord is present throughout and the movement and composition end triumphantly.
